[EQ]New Server Poll Up! - Page 11

The problem with EQ at the moment is that it is an awesome game, even to this day, but there are so many cock-blocks to doing fun stuff that it just makes people sick when they think of coming back.

My favorite example: The maximum level in the game at the moment is 85. I have a 76 Cleric that I go back and play periodically for 1-3 months at a time. My problem isn't leveling, or even AA's (I only have about 100), its getting the god damned spells for leveling. After a new expansion comes out with a level increase, put all the Rank 1 spells on a vendor in PoK, not in fucking zone_040847 that I've never heard of and have to read an encyclopedia to figure out how to get to.

The way it is right now, you can get about 30-50% of your spells while leveling, and half of those you have to buy at the Bazaar for a retarded amount of plat, that you ultimately end up buying off of IGE unless you have massive help from a guild or the like.

There are just so many slowdowns to the fun you could be having in the game. Let me get my fucking spells. Let me not have to run back for 30 minutes to my body (or to the group) if I die. For all the things people hate on WoW about, no one can argue that the core mechanics of the leveling game (Graveyards, Ghost Form, Spell Trainers, Primary/Secondary Tradeskills) is very good.

Like everyone else, I'm currently playing WoW right now. EQ is my original love, but they'd have to actually do something to bring me back. Put a vendor in PoK with every god damn 1-80 spell in the game for every class.

Did you miss where he said pull rank 1 spells of a vendor? The standard version (better than the previous expansion) of the new spells are vendor bought. It's like gear for casters almost, there's rk2 and rk 3 drops that make them even better and better. Now to bitch about them not being in PoK is another thing all together and just downright lazy since you have to do it, essentially once a year. It's like bitching you have to run to Org from Thunder Bluff to get the flight path

Eh...I've never cared for the rank system they've used. Just give us the fucking spell and be done with it. The ranking system blows. There's enough gear to collect for casters as it was.

Original Progression Server was released right when WoW released the original Naxxramas. Thus precluding me from ever having the time to play on it (which I wanted to).

New Progression Server is probably going to coincide with WoW releasing Ulduar, and again, I won't have enough time to get involved.

They were not shut down, and the project is still very much alive. They simply ran into brief image copyright problems on their website which have since passed.

Only bad thing about those emu servers is noone plays on them,and EQ needs people all over the place to be any good..otherwise it is kind of boring.

Yeah - but those are your average poorly run emulator servers with nothing to offer that the real game cannot.

Before taking down their forum, they had as many as 3000 users registered in a very short time span, based on nothing more than hearsay and with no client or timetable to show. I seriously doubt there will be user base issues upon launch.

A good long while. At least it's still progressing, unlike most projects after a month or so. Really, nostalgia isn't going to be wearing off anytime soon, so it's not that big of a deal.

For those of you wanting to experience classic EQ, buy a mac. Today is my third day on the eqmac server and I couldn't ask for a better classic server. The only downside is the low population which can be overcome if you box well. I tried 3 boxing and it's a bit much for me. 2 boxing wasn't horrible but you gotta stay on your toes. The server has a 20% experience bonus as well.
