New from SOE - station cash

Didn't find it posted so...

STATION CASH

Station Cash is a new virtual currency from SOE that has been created to allow for the purchase of premium in-game items within EverQuest II.

To get started, access the "Marketplace" from the EQII Window within the game. Click on the "Add Funds" button to purchase Station Cash to fund your wallet and then select items to purchase.

Mostly fluff items similar to LoN card items but experience booster potions for aa/trad/adv. rather blunt end of a wedge though?

So, how long until you can just send in $$ for Plat on every server?

Then they'll have an excuse to increase the cash sinks in game 100 fold!

Didn't they already do this with Station Exchange or whatever it was called in the past? Or that was player-to-player trading, wasn't it

In any case, pretty evil considering you access it in-game. Falling asleep camping that item, or get fucked out of a raid drop? stationcash 2 clicks away... lulz

It's basically just stuff they were giving away anyway, xp pots, mana pots, fluff pets, consigned armor. You can't buy endgame gear with it or anything. FFS you get bags, defiant armor+weapons, xp pots, 3 mounts, etc... just for playing EQ1.

None the less it's a slippery slope, and yet another move from the purist controlling these games to the MBA looking to squeeze out a few more bucks.

It is basically $1 for a double exp potion for 30 mins. Who really cares.

Is it really any different than the WoW RAF program, which again was the company using real life cash to get people to pay the game maker to get faster exp. I bet 90%+ of the RAF people are not new customers, just people who wanted to level alts faster.

Its all the same damn thing. It won't affect the game any more than IGE or anyone else selling plat that you than use to buy the potions in bazaar except maybe now they will have more Dev cash.

The bitching in the public channels in eq2 is freaking epic.

A person mentions it, then another says "wait, they can buy mythicals?" then it turns into a circular arguement that goes on and on.

everyone thinks it's a sign of doom to come.

Smedly is a fucking money grubbing whore that is all.

Just to let everyone know whats happening its now 10$ for a two hour 50% exp potion thats lasts through death.

Guess we now know why exp rate in SoD sucked so badly.

It's retarded to even think about buying that shit at that price. You get a stupid amount of experience in normal hotzones as it is. If it were 10 bucks for maybe 24 hours of double? Maybe.

Do you really think they will stop here? Do you honestly think that when they originally implemented the Station Exchange that they planned to stop there?

Of course not. What they are doing is incrementally implementing systems which allow you to get in-game perks for cash. As the old expression goes, you don't throw the frog into the boiling water; you turn up the heat slowly. First they introduced the concept but say it's only going to be on specific servers. Now it's on all servers but only for "fluff" items. Will you be there to defend them when they offer the option to buy the equivalent of Tier 1 items? It's only newbie shit anyway right?

As Jait said, it's a slippery slope. If you don't see this as just the second step in an overall plan to implement a widespread RMT system then I think that you are incredibly short sighted.

it's a slippery slope in full motion already. The Station Exchange was the first stop, this is the second one. Buying actual loot is just a year away now.
