Fanged Skull Stiletto, just for the months and years of hunting, rumor-mongering and discussion it caused at the safe house.

lol, Worker Sledgemallet, yeah.

And on further review I want to add Mod Rods. For whatever reason they had a good ratio, so for a few weeks it was really fun giving them to low levels and telling them to right-click.

I can remember thinking how cool the Benediction conversion animation was going to be and feeling gyped the first time I did it. It wasn't really even an animation, it just looked like the game lagged and then the graphic "corrected" itself.

Still though, to this day I have new players ask me to stick around in a city and wait for the recast time to expire so they can see it. I feel bad, knowing its not going to impress them, heh.

Favorite Weapon: The Cleric Epic 1.0 I don't how many millions of experience points its saved people.
The cleric summonable stun hammers they added also kicked ass. I remember getting that thing and suddenly feeling like i could kill lv. 40's instead of lv. 30's at 65.

Favorite weapon: toss up between the Blade of Carnage and Perdition's Blade. It took me eons to level and gear my EQ warrior. So when I was finally geared enough to tank the AoW, it felt damn good to both tank/kill the AoW for my first time and also get a BoC. I never did get a Bloodfrenzy, although I did get a Darkblade of the Warlord before I quit. In WoW my guild could down Rag pretty easily, but it took six months of raiding to get a Perdition's Blade to drop.

Favorite item: AoN! WoW's clickies suck.

Weapon: Tranquil Staff

Item: Journeyman's Boots, easily. No item in any game has every given me the same level of satisfaction.

Guise of the Deceiver would be my runner-up.

Oh yeah, and for an honorable mention: my first house in Ultima Online. It was a crappy one room affair, but it felt like such an accomplishment.

The even sadder thing is that WoW *DID* have these. Remember all the nifty lvl 30-40 weapons, armors, and rclicks? Burning War Axe, Deadman's Hand, Black Duskwood Staff, Dog Whistle, Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator, Hydrocane, Manual Crowd Pummeler, Thrash Blade, etc.

Some designer had the same love, but drew a short straw and got stuck on worthless levels rather than endgame.

EQ1 Paw of Opolla - low-mid level epic-style quest for sweet item, back when there weren't spoilers, just people exchanging tips and clues on forums. Good stuff.

That's not quite fair to say. Retail WoW had fantastic items, but they were the exception rather than the very boring rule and they were entirely too rare, random and stupid to get. The bulk of fun items were world drop epics. My favorite?

Hand of edward the Odd:
Not only was it great damage for its time, but the proc on it made your next spell insta cast. Add in the fact I was on a pvp server, and the weapon was designed for my class (shaman) and I never replaced it. Ever. I sold him off before I would deequip that item.

As for EQ...

Robe of the celestial fist. It was a beautiful graphic, and an amazing effort to get. The monk epic was basically giving that away for some stupid gloves that made your monk uber. I didn't care for that, but I did love my robes.

So many great weapons have already been named, but one that was always special for me was the Green Jade Broadsword.

As for item, after an epic 47 hour straight camp during which Stormfeather popped and killed me on hour 13 when I was in the bathroom, my Eyepatch of Plunder was my most treasured item.

Weapon: Cleric epic 1.0 for all the reasons state above and more.
Item: AoN, clicky skele form was the best thing ever. Fuck wow clickies, they all blow serious ass compared to clickies in EQ.
