On top of that, you didn't have welfare gear that randomly drops off any mob in EQ like you do in modern MMO's. Every item was either crafted, raided, camped, or quested. All 4 were a fucking bitch to complete. This caused huge power swings because upgrades were huge given how rarely they occured and that there were no welfare greens to dampen the effect.

Some loot wasn't replaced for 10, 20, even 30 levels. Some shit NEVER got replaced.

My favorite item was the quest earring involving Seru. Right click see invis/ultravision was gold as a non-dark elf warrior on a PvP server. The earring was a great status symbol too given how lame the 3rd quest report drops were.

When I saw the Warrior's epic for the first time I was amazed. I quickly logged out of my ranger and rolled a warrior hoping for one day to get those swords, never happened but I was wielding BoC + SoD heh. And BFG was a sweet weapon that had one of the few (if only) animations for a weap at the time

Yeah its funny how MMOs since EQ have items with bigger stats, better graphics, etc. but still the most memorable ones are from EQ. Every MMO since has almost universal BOE/BOP and clicky effects are either useless or non-existent.

Favorite Weapons: Singing Short Sword, Edge of Eternity

Favorite Item: either JBoots or Guise of the Deceiver. Both items that, after getting them, you could never part with.

Honorable mention from WoW: Arcanite Reaper and Dark Edge of Insanity. I'd say in early WoW the Arcanite Reaper was nearly as game-changing an item as something in EQ. As soon as a Warrior or Shaman got one they became an extreme threat in PVP. DEOI is still one of the best looking weapons from any game.

Weapon: Cleric Epic 1.0 any day of the week. I got it much later than most people when I returned to the game, but it was still a blast to get. EQ community ftw, had a bunch of strangers helping me farming for that shit in Skyfire, with a bard pulling half the zone at the time and two wizzies AEing 60 mobs in 15 seconds, it still took me probably 200 hours in the zone to get those four fucking pearls.

Item: Fungi Tunic, highest character when I got my first one was 43. I saw what people could do with this fucking thing and I said fuck leveling, I'm hittin' EC until I got enough change for this thing. Gathering 40kpp at level 40 took a while , but shit if I didn't get that bad boy.

fucking eq man

Scimitar of the Mistwalker - not that I ever had one...but its cool to know this thing existed.

I had a certain attachment to my Ivy Etched Tunic and Short Sword of Morin

For an item, has to be...

Saw that on the front page of Alla's shortly after Luclin came out, and was like "I NEED THAT!" for my enchanter. have no idea how much time passed, but eventually before any other expansions came out I got like 20-30 friends and we spent an eternity killing him. Had a damn bajillion HP.

Weapon...

Finished that epic off while my wife, another couple we were friends with, and another friend of ours were all working on ours at the same time. It was WAY after Kunark, so we were able to group a lot of the raid mobs. Most satisfying end to a quest ever. Loved the item, too. Long lasting awesome haste that wasn't level restricted.

I always loved my Fiery Defender the graphic was awesome. So few paladins went through hassle to ever get it made it that much more enjoyable to have.

I will also second the Talisman of Vah Kerrath, I was basically in awe of that necklace the first time I saw it. I can't even remember how happy I was to my guildmates when I finally got the soul essence off Aten Ha Ra. I was so scared shitless on turn it in to the skeleton in The Umbral Plains since there were different opinions on the amount of faction needed for the hand in and I was worried that he would just eat it and give back nothing.

In WoW there was only two items that every gave me that same feeling and that was Thunderfury and Asscandy.

As a rogue, I loved my Mask of Deception. Since it had a long cast time and cool spell effect, I'd cast it then run around people with the green bubbles HAHA that was so fun. Also, I would cast it then crouch, cast crouch, etc. and get a bunch of bubbles! WOOHOO BUBBLES!

A VERY close contest for me, among the many pieces of gear I loved from EQ, but it came down to these two:

The Runner Up;

The Winner;
