| One thing in WoW that had the same epic feel as EQ style items/quest was the Quest to open the AQ gates. I was in the top Alliance guild on Uldaman back when we did it and it was tedious to grind silithus mobs for hours on ends for the things for our MT to turn in for rep with the brood, but going to all the different zones and doing the raid mobs like the dragon in moonglade, the guy on alcaz island, etc was very fun and seemed epic because so many zones were involved. Bring back epicly-long (but don't forget epicly-rewarding) quest lines that require whole raids to do. Put the MMO back into MMORPG for fucks sake.

| Item (generally useful) - Yalmaha, AO Item (class specific tool of godliness) - Aggression enhancer (jealousy augmented), AO Armor - Grid Armor Mk IV for fixers, AO Weapon (coolness) - Mawl of Gwyddawg, AO Weapon (overpowered) - Nippy John Stiletto, AO AO has all the coolest stuff. They always did.

The Epic Quest boat has sailed and sank though, it ended with EQ. I don't think anything anywhere competes with the 10th Ring Event, and the old school Epic Quests where all several times more badassed and rewarding than anything WoW has outside of Thunderfury/Sulfurion which at best equal them. As far as awesome items go though, Blade of Carnage/Scepter of Destruction from EQ. Not only where they both pretty much as good as it got during velious but you could let your close RL friends (that you know where they live) and little brother play with them, or give them to an alt and be the very reason that EQ put in level requirements on gear later on. | The cleric weapon was single-handedly the best weapon in the game when it was introduced and it probably still is, even if you don't equip it. I like to say "WTB Water Sprinkler of Nem Anhk" in WoW raids and no one gets it. I like to also say "rar Bladestorm, Katana of Steel Sleet" and again no one gets it. GAH why does no one get the EQ references. So with that... Favorite Weapon: Water Sprinkler Favorite Item: Amulet of Necropotence or Guise of the Deceiver edit: Quote:

| For me Id have to say the most legendary in EQ was Soulfire and Ghoulbane with Crested Mistmoore Shield. Being a Paladin those were standard weapons you got the momemt you could use em. Seeing a Paladin running around with Soulfire in NFP back in vanilla EQ you knew he was somebody. For Armor Id have to say its a toss up between Rubicite and FBSS. They were both godly items you wanted. Man I miss those days. For WoW there really hasnt been anything truly exciting for me. We had Thunderfury bindings drop for us and gave them to our piss poor Main Tank who was absolutely horrible. Only reason he got them was because he was a the guild leader and thought he deserved them. How we ever managed to get thru content with him IM still scratching my head over. Turned him into a mediocre tank. Could only imagine if the bindings went to someone who was a really good warrior or rogue. |

+5 Internets | Weapon: Quel'Serrar. There was a time when the Compendium of Dragon Slaying (QS quest starter) could drop from these little book objects in Dire Maul. Well if a book spawned in a certain spot underneath this treant pack, a Warrior could charge in with an AE fear and loot the book. Once this was discovered every Warrior in my guild was permanently in Dire Maul. I was the only one lucky enough to get one and I got it about 2 days before they patched it. Item: My ragebringer was the most significant jump in power but I still gotta go with my Eyepatch of Plunder. I stumbled on Stormfeather on my way to an 8th Shawl raid and kited him around while waiting for someone else to show up and help me kill him.

Good times. She really was a smile on her face, dagger hidden behind her back kind of bitch. With that kind of leadership, always wondered why were still a family guild. I'm going to be online in some game someday and see that name run by and it's going to be on. | |

+69 Internets | Staff of the Observers. I would RUIN your 1997 video card you were trying to use in EQ with this thing. SENTINEL BOMB. Also: Dual Wielding a Crude Stein and Stein of Moggok. ENCHANTER BITCHES.

| Sentinel was the devil. We had this guy on Lanys named Bakk, who would use it during Fear raids as a joke. Would lag out nearly everyone. And I think at the time I was using a 97 video card Think it was an ATI Banshee, but it's been a long time. |

+12 Internets | Gotta go with Swiftwind/Earthcaller combo. I was so absolutely bouncing-out-of-my-chair when I got those, it made my week. My first epic, first particles, first "status". Definitely a great memory.

A lot of the killer items were already mentioned so here's some more. I had a friend get a lot of mileage off this one, didn't replace it till his 2.0 I think. He didn't do gates. Weapon: ![]() I was big on shrink regardless of what I played. This one worked on the run and from inventory. Item: ![]() Honorable Mention: ![]() The stone was nothing but a PL tool once they ended the ability to bind where you fought. I miss being able to fuck myself with a bad bind here or there.
