Yeah, what happened to that mechanic? They put it into SWP and I thought loot would be heading in that direction, but it looks largely abandoned. I suspect Blizz thinks they've fixed it in other ways, which they haven't.

Tanking and healing require different skills really, but the fights in WOTLK currently are more difficult to tank than to heal. But that hasn't always been the case, some fights are the opposite (Archimonde for example) where the healer has to do all the positioning and running that the dps has to do, while overseeing 25 other health bars, and maintaining 40 yards from the tank as much as possible, and possibly being on a fear ward rotation.

There's no reason Blizz can't put somekind of mechanic in to make sure the shit that drops is useable by at least one person in the raid. If you have no warlocks in your raid no BoP warlock shit should drop. No Holy Pally's then no holy pally shit should drop. They should have it at least on a class level as spec level may be too much of a filter.

After 3.0.8, the only item type in the whole game unique to one class is spellpower plate. Anything else can be used by more than one class.

Having armor types period just complicates things. Bring back EQ1 style armor where it simply had usable classes listed on it. They could have the visible graphic change based on class if they wanted so Paladin's aren't running around in robes and bam, problem solved.

Really don't know why they don't just un-randomize loot entirely. Let the players choose what loot they get after it drops, add triggers to unlock better/higher tiers of loot, call it a day.

You could add really specialized loot then. Tauren arms warrior only weapons that are basically tree trunks. Perhaps an undead rogue with the dreadhawk haircut only headpiece. A wild stallions guitar that can only be looted by characters named Bill or Ted. I mean do whatever the fuck you want then.

EQ2 did it. Spec dependent is tough though, people like offspec stuff sometimes.

I started tanking heroics at 20khp. Don't fucking forget where we all came from like the dipshits in LFG on my server. You do not need 40khp to tank a fucking heroic, period. If you can't heal a 7k hit, then just put the healing gear down and start auto attacking something in the vain hopes to get some gear the easy way.

And yeah, after I started leveling up my holy pally, I can say without a doubt, that healing is just as much of a snore now as tanking is. I don't think I've dropped below 80% mana doing any instance yet, and half the time I'm healing tanks with very little defense gear since they're all retarded.

Really, only feral staffs and spellpower plate are the problem. And feral staffs are being fixed. Leaving just spellpower plate.

They need to either make it not plate or have it so you can turn it in for something else.

Nah, SPriests do quite well on DPS if the trash is AE pulls. Mind Sear is an amazingly good spell.

20k seems quite low. Pretty sure I was pushing 24k just from crafted saronite shit. My hp goes down as I upgrade since I have to use more gem slots for defense and shit because all the purples are lower.

They did acknowledge the problem and stated that what they're probably going to end up doing is making paladin healing based on dps gear rather then having spell power plate.

Balancing/tweaking it has been an issue though (see the rubber banding with retadin nerfs/fixes).

You're a DK? I'm sure you have a higher stamina ratio than warriors. I was wearing all the saronite that made sense to wear when I hit 80 and we started running heroics immediately thereafter, and I was between 20 and 21k when we started. I've seen 76 DK's with 18k hp too, so I think there's something off in the stamina calculations. Nexus was one of the first we finished getting all the drops from and we never died on the dragon.

Regardless, he's wearing blues. Blues are what you go into heroics with. You don't get fucking purples from normals.

Which means you'll see it more than anything else! Or maybe that's just my guild. 1/3 of the drops from each of the past two Naxx-25 that we've run has been spellpower plate.
