Been trying to gear up my non-hardcore raiding friends in heroics since they hit 80. And the two biggest upgrades for both of them just WILL NOT drop. Pulled kill numbers off my armory stats page:

14 Mal'ganis kills: 0 tank shields
13 Keristrasza kills: 0 healing maces

RNG crits you in the face for "SON OF A BITCH" on ventrillo every run.

When I think of spaceships, I see Star Wars or Star Trek ships, my first thought isn't a huge crystal with energy beings controlling it.

The concept of extremely advanced crystal technology exists in various media such as Stagate SG-1 for instance where most advanced species have developped crystals that are used for many things, but that hardly qualifies to make Burning Crusade look like a sci-fi show..

I'm pretty sure Blizzard will go back and forth between traditionnal, medieval, gothic fantasy and high fantasy now and then with expansions, especially because I doubt that the Warcraft story will end without us wiping out the Burning Legion throneworld, Argus (where the Draenei came from in the flying castle lulz!)
They could've done a little bit to try and not get people to think that they were going in a sci-fi vein. What I mean by that is Netherstorm is chock full of SF references, which is also the first zone in which you encounter the vessels (er, unless you rolled a draenei.)

Going through most of TBC was fine, up til I hit Netherstorm and then it was just a big 'wtf' for me. Compare, say, Nagrand to Netherstorm or any other zone and you get what I mean. It just felt really out of place compared to the rest of the expansion.

Not saying that automatically makes it SF, just that they didn't do a great job of streamlining things.

Vardisk: Your local blacksmith can craft alternatives to both of those items, so you don't *have* to farm heroics for them. Look up the Titansteel Shield Wall and Titansteel Guardian.

Just to say that the first zone where you encounter a vessel in Outland is Nagrand, since Oshu'gun is a Naaru ship that crashed on Draenor long before the Tempest Keep came around, there is still a dying Naaru at the very bottom of the Oshu'gun. Note that Oshu'gun is also circled by Nazca lines, so you see there are references elsewhere too, they are just more subtle.

Not to mention that 14 Mal'ganis kills means the tank picked up twice the number of badges required to just buy the shield that's easily better than both titansteel and the dropped one.

The bonuses alone make it far and away the best tradeskill. Not just the extra stats from the three unique gems, but also the fact that they are prismatic and allow you to get the socket bonus on items you normally wouldn't plus the ability to use any meta you want without socketing shitty gems.

I know for a fact i'm 0/15 on the legs from UK (Interestingly enough its actually 2/15 xbow 1/15 leather belt 12/15 ring) and i'm left to assume that I have to be somewhere around that ratio in H-CoT for the ring and tanking wrists (I defaulted to the tank one time for the tanking wrist since I was DPS)

So yea, RNG is a bitch. I got my loken trinket third try. It actually dropped my first time through and I lost it to a hunter. Yes. A hunter.

Also lost the +110 sta trinket from H-AN to a shaman who "wanted to build a tank shaman"

Fucking people.
Those legs have dropped our past 4 UK kills, I'm wearing one on a tank set just for the +hit, and I've sold atleast one other pair.

On the topic of Loken.. I'll go with draegan fuck you loken fuck you.

HoL normal runs suck ass just because noone wants to do it. Not to mention he won't drop the damn trinket for anything.

On a side note we did Heroic HoL today, (Tank Unholy DK-Me, Holy Pally, Sub rogue, Shadow priest, warlock). We steamrolled all of it till Loken, I assume the 3 dps didn't really know the fight. We went over it and engaged the 3 dps died on the 2nd Nova. The pally and I owned his ass 2man style while they sat face down and watched. Was one of the more epic moments in WoW that I've had. 80% - Dead with just two of us. I'm pretty sure there is no way in hell I could have tanked him like I was as a war or pally.

You could have tanked him as another tank class, loken is a fucking sissy his only real source of damage is his aura and obviously the nova. I've duoed him too with a terribly geared healer. Some bosses are entirely about their gimmicks and do shit for damage, another good example is that boss in occulus, 2nd drake guy, with the lasers. I soloed him from 40 to 0, and another time duoed him from 80% to 0, the other being a DPS. Death Strike was enough healing to keep myself alive(but I'm pretty much outgearing heroics).

I haven't found an issue with finding people for normal HoL. The issue is finding people who won't roll on the trinket. I can find like 3DKs to DPS on that, and a paladin to heal who also wants the trinket because he's going prot. But finding mages and shit? Not too common. During weekends you can find lvl 76s who simply want the quests and shit, but then you have to deal with total fucking retards doing anywhere between 250 and 650DPS. If I bothered lvling my fucking druid, or my paladin on my 2nd account, I could probably solo HoL dual logging and get the trinket. But I've pretty much given up on it and simply wait for the naxx trinket instead, which coincidentally, hasn't dropped in a month. I'm also past the actual need of the trinket, it's more to have in my bank in case of, or to swithc in certain fights for specific things(like getting crit immune on thaddius' adds while keeping 4T7 DPS to pewpew the shit out of thaddius after I'm done tanking the first 2 guys).

Just a word of warning.

Swear it's a conspiracy. Blizzard hacks accounts internally just to build up demand for their authenticators. I ordered mine this morning since if my friend can get hacked, I'm definitely at risk since I'm no where near as paranoid about it as he is.
Does he go to net cafes? It's quite easy for someone to install a keylogger on a netcafe computer and rack up a bunch of free WoW accounts.

It's funny because I've been playing for 4 years over multiple accounts, buying/selling/trading, tons of addons, I use IE, don't run any kind of firewall or security programs, download porn and music religiously and have accidently clicked suspect links on the WoW forums at least twice, but I've yet to have an issue with account security. In fact the only thing I haven't done is played at a net cafe, so it makes me wonder how large a factor that is in all these 'omg I didn't do anything wrong how did I get hacked' cases.

I've been playing mmos for over 10years, been hated by a lot of people in my early years as an immature pk, and I never had a password issue. My secret? I don't give my login info to people I know IRL because "we're cool yo". Pyros Institute of Statistics showed that 70% of account "hacks" are just friends/relations using the login/pass you gave them before, or using the same info you gave them for something else because you're an idiot, 30% are from downloading trojan because you're an idiot, and 65% are from high profile hackers who can crack the pentagon systems and go around stealing mmorpg accounts of people who are totally safe and responsible.

There's plenty to talk about. Like the fact that Yogg-Saron is slowly oozing across Northrend like a plague, and we, like the saps we are, are falling for it, because we <3 Saronite apparently (which also seems to produce violent reactions when exposed to the energy of the Light). It's a wonder he isn't trying to drive Arthas insane or subjugate him there in Icecrown Citadel with how the whole thing is made up of Saronite.

Yeah, exactly. Oshu'gun didn't leap out at me as being really out in left field, while most of Netherstorm did, if that makes sense.

No he doesn't do anything like that. He knows how to protect himself, doesn't play outside his home, doesn't click on misc links, use IE, share info, etc. His computer is clean. We're all pretty baffled as to how the account got compromised. Guild bank stripped, all characters, etc. He ordered an authenticator last week but it hasn't arrived yet.

Well either his security isn't as good as he thinks, or more likely he gave someone else his info and they took advantage of it.

There's wierd shit going around right now as far as the account hacks are concerned. My guild leader over on Nazjatar got hacked without doing anything that would likely put his info out there as well. He was almost certain it was a personal attack but I'd put money on it being something within a mod.
