Paladins should go back to their roots. They should be able to make zone-wide church-bell/ding noises while they one shot Death Knights. WC2 was the best.

Somehow, I feel that people are just arguing to argue right now. Most of us played EverQuest, where the only real quest I can remember in the beginning of that game was to take beverages back and forth on that boat (what was that zone that you could get the oracle robe in?) to WFP or something. I got a few levels on it and then got tired. Gods all of a sudden showing up, and the moon falling out of the sky... nobody really gave a damn.

I think that WoW has offered the gaming community quite a bit. I'm one of the first to start bashing on battlenet kiddies - because they're annoying and need to all die - but the game has been pretty awesome thus far. If we're to the point of arguing over implementation of lore, then either we've all played the game for too long and are extremely bored with it; we're nit-picking; or we're that enthralled by it.

Either way, I don't care if the Draenai wiped out the dinosaurs on earth and then fled bob dole's wrath and crashed onto azeroth with a bag full of smily-faced stickers as motivation. It's there, and it's better than a panda. You can beat your head into a wall trying to dig through all of the lore, and to try and find issues. Just keep in mind that you've probably had several people/teams working on the lore over the years, and nothing is going to be perfect.

Edit: Apparently Lucas is a WoW fan, or something. That last Indiana Jones movie... worse ending than any of the wow lore fuck-ups you could throw out to challenge it.

WoTLK on the other hand uses a dark, natural pallet. You have a lot of greens, brown, black and if there are bright colors, they are subdued with an "earthy" feel (Halls of lightning/stone.)...It all feels like the place was carved from the "earth", as though it were built without technology.

That is the main difference..When I see a floating necropoli it looks like its built with steel, mortar and bone. It feels very low tech, even if its flying, again, because I don't associate the artwork or color scheme with being unnatural, even if it, itself, is.

Then there is tempest keep...Whoa, pink, glowing towers, shiny, neon metallic underbellies? These colors only exist because humans make them, they are byproducts of technology. Whether that was intended, or not, it is what it is. Half the time I was in TK it felt like I was a nightclub.

Unfortunately, this pallet even extended to places like SSC and BT...Dark swamps with bright ferns, bleh. It just felt artificial, and you know what? That was probably by design, they wanted it to feel very alien, very "artificial". Unfortunately, that isn't something that turns a lot of fantasy people on.

All in all, I think WoTLK's two biggest improvements were the color scheme and music...I know it sounds funny to say that those two things could affect my perception of a game so much, but they have a bigger impact than most give credit for.
This is how you put together a decent argument. All valid points, IMO.

Because you missed the entire game Dumar:

Scourge armies are in Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, Azjol'nerub, Zul'drak, Sholazar Basin and Icecrown.
They didn't invade Borean in huge numbers because there is nothing there, one necropoli would have been enough to subdue the warlrus and mammoth men but a stupid lich crashed the one they sent.
They are in the process of invading/fighting in Dragonblight.
They got defeated in Zul'drak so they only have half the zone.
Icecrown Glacier is DEAD.

They are being held back in Azjol'nerub by the Old God.
They can't enter Wintergrasp, 3/4 of Sholazar and most of Storm peaks.
YOU KNOW, THE OTHER TWO STORY ARCS!? The entire reason the players have been taunted into going over to northrend, to handle this stuff for the scourge?

Scourge leaders are controlling things behind the scenes in Howling Fjord and Grizzly Hills, because if you kill everything there is no freash meat and bones to make more minions.
BECAUSE IT WOULD BE FUCKING BORING OTHERWISE.

Please enlighten us on what you wanted to see? The entire expansion just like Dragonblight and Eastern Plaguelands?? More skeletons? Even more skeletons!?

I have no clue why people keep responding to Dumar, let alone take him seriously.

Oh yeah, stop quoting the nutcase!

Zeste: T6/Sunwell gear is better than most of the gear until lvl 80. I think I upgraded one item until I started hitting heroics and Naxx since I was in full Sunwell gear.

You're a rogue, you have absolutely no room to complain about pvp on any level right now.

I don't think he's complaining. He's got a point. There are a couple classes right now that can do 10k damage with you having absolutely no recourse and mages are one of them.

Well here are my stats at 80:
  • Bonus Damage:1227
  • Bonus Healing: 1227
  • Hit Rating: 133
  • Crit Chance: 5.85% (fire 14.8%)
  • Haste Rating: 215
  • Mana Regen: 152

That 70 warlocks sp was over 1500, his crit was like 30%, and hit probably double.

So what I am hearing is that a 5man mage with average gear should stick to Frost for a while since I cant support or sustain the crits needed for a FFB spec to work?

You need haste and crit for frostfire bolt -- iirc. Basically, yes, you should stay frost for a long while.

edit: And are you sure the warlock had over 1500 SP with T6? Seems kind of implausible with the damage to spell power conversion.

I don't want to link his armory, but here is what he had:
  • Bonus Damage:1322
  • Bonus Healing: 1322
  • Hit Rating: 219
  • Crit Chance: 28.3%
  • Haste Rating: 31
  • Mana Regen: 171
Demonology

15 / 46 / 0

He had just about every Illidan caster item and a full set of Malefic gear.

Obviously the warlock was an endgame TBC raider, and apparantly I was gimped for this instance trying to FFB through yard trash at level 80 in a level 70 instance.

Also while I am here - what are the soft goals for Mages for SP and hit?

Besides, your gear level at 80 is underpar considering the quests available levelling up to that point. There's a cloth helm from an AD quest that yields 60 or so hit right there as well as the trinket from Wyrmrest which has around 55 hit on it.
