+79 Internets | Starting new again I would def go with Bard, saves cash on mounts and all that. As far as Duo, bard/disc or Bard/Shaman I think is better then bard/cleric but cleric works just fine. |

+2 Internets | To this day the Vanguard bard has to be the most "fun" class I have ever played. It was done right in so many ways. I know it has been discussed 1000 times, but some person needs to port the bard (including the composing interface!), blood mage, and disciple to a new mmo. Those 3 classes were just badass. Yes I know EQ had a bard before, but it was no where near as fun as the VG bard. Atleast in my opinion. |

| I never played a bard past level 5 or so, but my main was a disciple. I loved the class and it was an absolute blast to level up, it's too bad Vanguard had no end game. For all the hate VG receives here, I had more fun leveling my disciple than any of the time I've spent with EQ2 or WoW. It's too bad it got released prematurely, you could tell the team was hitting their stride the last few months before release. With another year of development, it would have been a solid game. Oh well.

| I just looked up the stats of a bunch of Vanguard items. It looks like they made the same itemization mistakes of EverQuest, in that every single item adds + stats, + hps, + mana, + resists, + proc/effect/clicky, etc. Don't they realize giving every item in the game blanket stat increases worsens character diversity/specialization ? Classic EQ - Velious was awesome, MEANINGFUL: Cloak of Flames Item Glossary MAGIC ITEM Slot: BACK AC: 10 DEX: +9 AGI: +9 HP: +50 SV FIRE: +15 Haste: +36% WT: 0.1 Size: MEDIUM Class: ALL Race: ALL MEANINGLESS: Fabled Cloak of Flames Item Glossary MAGIC ITEM NO TRADE Slot: BACK AC: 20 DEX: +25 STA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 AGI: +25 HP: +205 MANA: +185 ENDUR: +185 SV FIRE: +25 SV DISEASE: +15 SV MAGIC: +20 SV POISON: +15 Shielding: +3% Stun Resist: +5% HP Regen +5 Haste: +45% Required level of 70. | I know its been like over 1 year since Vanguard itemization was smashed and bashed, but you couldn't have forgotten or missed it. There had to have been a few hundred posts on it, and that was during release and following release for the next year all the way to APW. A lot of things are wrong with Vanguard, but all the in-depth posts have already been made. You can save yourself a lot of time and energy by just posing "VG itemization sucked". Nobody will fault you for it. And yea, they got the picture.

| I agree with the point you're trying to make, but that's pretty much every MMO these days. Mudflation runs rampant as a result of welfare epics and easily-obtained loot. Not just in WoW. As for classes, everyone harps on bards, BMs and disciples but really every class in Vanguard was just really well done. With the possible exceptions of Warriors and Rogues they were all fun to play, had nice skillsets, etc. That's what sucks most about the game failing. |
