Funny, I'm the opposite. My wife is saying "I don't want you spending extra money for a pet for me..."

Shadowknights and Velious?

Time to preorder. And to think I wouldn't be paying for Sony's ideas once I quit EQ .

On a serious note.. is the collectors edition worth it? Since I got bored at 70 I started collecting pets and I want the stupid frost wyrm, but not sure if I feel like spending extra money for that, cause I don't care about the nerdy discussion of how dev's feel about their game. We all know you love rogues, move on.

This is so not going to be a polished release...

Servers were night unplayable for the last 3 days due to lag and the servers crashing then on sunday morning northrends (the server in beta) "Northrend" (the continent) went on permanent vacation and has been offline for about 27 hours now.

Adding to that:

many dungeon instances are not itemized let alone tuned
Bosses in some dungeons are broken encounters and just sit there as they are being beat on
Obsidian Sanctum is a joke (free loot FTW)
Naxx needs a once over from a low end guild so that it gets properly tuned
DK's are beyond broken (in a bad way)
Client crashes often
World server crashes often
Talents that do nothing
Talents that do 1000 DPS just spamming the talent

and that is just a short list...

Oh well, I wonder if I can put a bet on them pushing the date back about...a month or two.

TBC beta was the same way, it's just debugging software. Of course itemization and class balance is a different story.

RvR isn't without its own pitfalls, but an open ended world to PvP in seems to have much more replay value than anything Blizzard's come up with. (to the average player...raiders don't count, they're 5% of the population at best)
As evidenced by how DAoC handily trounced EQ in the subscription race.

No, hang on....

Not discounting the other issues, but the server issue is because they let in 10 servers worth of players, and obviously, everyone is going to want to log in and play.

I really wanted to try out a deathknight. Ended up playing one on the pvp server since it was pretty good lag wise. The pve server was a mess and the premade transfer server was also a mess (shocking).

If they were going to let this many people in, they really should have opened new beta servers. I'm not going to bother to log in and test until the servers don't have 5 seconds of lag on them. It's ridiculous.

You guys should count yourselves lucky with 3 servers and 5 second lag. EUs single server is running around 10-30 seconds lag most of the time, even at stupid o'clock in the morning. The only saving grace is the fact that the instance server seems fine.

The PVE server deathknight area has 2-3 second lag, on the PVP server though, I was running just fine.

EQ was a much smaller game than WoW, and its fanbase was made up of obsessive compulsive types who'd camp a mob for a week. I have no doubt that part of the WoW playerbase will like the WotLK endgame just fine. As for the casuals, or even just people who don't like doing stuff over and over and over again, I think WAR has a chance to lure them.

Guardian, Sanctum goes from joke to awesome if you do it the hard way. However, I think if you kill off the 3 drakes ahead of time then Saltharion needs to be buffed in some way to make it less than ridiculously easy.

There have been times of the day when playing on Northrend I had no lag delay at all. I agree that indeed it has to do with the " Lets give out 50K Beta slots to try to counter some of the Warhammer hype" concept. I find the best times to play are in the morning, and that is about it.

I have no idea about the bugs because honestly I have not been interested in trying out the Beta all that much. The expansions get old plenty fast enough without adding a timeframe that does not even really count. I will enjoy the expansion when I buy it. Guildmate of mine was telling me that he wanted to learn the fights before it came out. I just replied " Who are we racing"? If Blizzard released expansions once per year, then perhaps I would understand the need to "learn" the content at a faster rate. In my mind, there will be plenty of time to enjoy it.

I did have to try out the DK though and I must say that I will be giving this class a shot. It helps a little having a wife that plays a Holy specced Paladin though . Will make for easier times forming up groups for instances.

I always get the CE, purely because I love the art books + sound tracks.

Besides, do the normal releases even come with DVD install? F having to use a ton of CDs.

And as for Ebay...you'll get jackshit if you Ebay it near launch day. There's too many stores that carry the CE that don't pre-order and they get alot. If you're looking for a better return, you're best bet is to hold onto it for awhile.

Although I don't think anything will match the original CE in terms of values, purely because of the pets alone (Diablo, Zergling, or Panda).

Got in beta like the 9th or something.. last couple of days ive been trying to play some instance on murmur. Crashed out of strat 2/2 times in one day (locks up my character 30mins for my DK and hours for my hunter). I hear people in my guild saying WG is lagfest. Dalaran also lags like shit though its a town so it doesn't bother me that much. There are also some minor annoying bugs like dismounting flying over buildings. This is from playing the game in under 4-5 hours. It doesn't seem like the game is good shape for release.

So is DK in really bad? I did try playing one with a blood and frost build but they seemed to lack fun.
