2 Internets | Kaos War at TC50 and your feedback Tech Crunch 50 3:30pm PST, SRI and KaosWar, click the above link to watch live. It will be on after causecast, TC is running behind. SRI = Us Kaos War = MMO we're developing Tech Crunch50 = Event with startup companies, like ours. You guys = give some feedback on our presentation and MMO based business model. Have a lot going on today forgot to specify the basics! Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that we're presenting at TechCrunch50 today, and we're pretty excited about it. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's a gathering of the most promising startups around the world in front of tons of VC, Angels, other Entrepreneurs and a panel of experienced business types. Long story short, we've gotten the chance of a lifetime from this event, and it's mostly thanks to our business model. We've gotten tons of interest/meetings already and hired on a new CTO(Who is awesome!) as well. I'd like you all to watch our presentation (it's only around 10minutes and it's live streamed) and give whatever feedback on what you see/hear. Bear in mind that it's being thinned out a little to give the information to people who don't understand the industry, so some of it will seem simplistic or silly. We know =) What we do want feedback on is 1) The business model. Is it a terrible idea? I'll save the second post to describe it after the show, since these TC guys are pretty strict on releasing details before the presentation. Hopefully the presentation will describe it well enough =) 2) The community oriented approach. Obviously we're big fans of these and similar forums, and the approach is going to involve asking the playerbase what to do next. Everyone sees the polls and whatever else, but our approach is going to be more direct. It's a big selling point for these investors, and quite frankly I think it's a good idea to take playerbase opinions into account (but only so far, too far either way on the (VISIONtm) ------- (PlayersWant) scale is a bad idea) So yeah, it's in about 30minutes, and I'd love to get you guys watching it. Damon is the guy on stage, you might remember him from our Creating Kaos reality show. Thanks newbs, appreciate it. Even if you hate it ![]() Last edited by WillzZz : 09-10-2008 at 04:01 PM. |

2 Internets | Sorry for tech problems! Haha, we'll try to get a private demo up. Tech test worked last night. Basically our model is building things small. Like I said the specifics don't make perfect sense (pvp, battlegrounds, whatever) but we're starting small and building from there using the players ideas and suggestions. We're not dumping $100m into a game to listen to everyone bitch about how it sucks for 4 years because gamers are pretty good at knowing if something is going to suck. Obviously that means less content released at launch, and yes you heard right it will be free to play. Most of our advisors and people we've spoken to are pretty down with free to play and releasing in this way. And just to clarify, this isn't user generated spore penis monsters. It will be largely a user ratings and suggestion/feedback system. We give options for making a new raid zone, a new 5man dungeon, more items, more quests, more story content, what have you and we go from there. It's just that there will be a much larger focus on it than some previous games exacted. Last edited by WillzZz : 09-10-2008 at 04:56 PM. |

49 Internets | In response to the negative internets on Will, SRI can "advertise" here all they want because they're cool. You wouldn't bitch about Scott coming on here and posting a link to him speaking live somewhere.

16 Internets | The premise of Shattered Reality Interactive is basically this, a hardcore gamer decides to build his own game revolved around the old school environment. Holding hands and giving you Valentine's day cards every time you die is not what they are going for. Rang-rang graphics yet western gameplay is what they are going for.

16 Internets | I'm looking forward to Damon Grow speaking, he is very good at grabbing your attention. He can talk forever if you give him the chance. I would 100% recommend you watching it in about 20minutes. Here is the finale of "Making Kaos" the tech demo isn't up to date as they are using the Crytech engine. +32 Internets | how did you guys get categorized as a Vertical Social Networking and not placed under Games? they're up now uhhh you're already losing me with your MMO gameplay pyramid. BG's, Arenas and PvP aren't necessary for MMOs. Last edited by Zarcath : 09-10-2008 at 04:35 PM. |
