+1 Internets | [Runes of Magic] Looking for some MMORPG veterans Hello, I'm Wilfried "Papillon" and I work at Frogster Interactive Pictures for the upcoming MMORPG Runes of Magic. While the game follows a Free2Play model, it is in no way what these games used to be in the past. Many of the developers are old school Diku Style MMO fans (including me) and I think you can feel that in the game right away. As I'm also an old fan (but mostly lurker) of the FoH forums and have great respect for the talk and experience of many players over here, I would like to ask if some old school MMORPG veterans would like to help us in extending on where we are right now in the Closed Beta Test? We are not there yet, don't expect the Holy Grail (yet ), but for myself, it was indeed a feeling I missed for a very long time, when I was first introduced to RoM. I would be very happy if we could extend on that and I'm indeed looking for help to do so.I would like to invite a few people to help us. If you are interested please send me a PM and let me know what MMOs you played and for how long and which ones you liked for what reasons. I don't know how many will be interested and I have only a limited number of accounts. If you could register for Beta and tell me your Account Name and E-Mail address used for registering in the PM, I will activate 20 accounts, by random as I see they fit to what we are looking for, by 10am (EST) tomorrow (2008-10-10). Thank you very much and I hope to see you soon in Runes of Magic, wilfried "papillon" P.S.: I asked for permission to post this in advance, it's not my intention to do some kind of marketing over here. I would really appreciate the help of some experienced MMO veterans and we will listen closely to what they have to say. |

+165 Internets | You should put all the names up and we get to vote on who gets in. My votes are for Makata so we know immediately which classes are the most overpowered and Dumar so we know just how terrible your game is because he can't cut down tree's and create logpiles behind his cabin. |

+1 Internets | Thanks a lot to everyone who offered to help. The selected people should have an active beta registration by now. I'm really looking forward for your feedback. Feel free to use the Beta forums (I will notice your names) or send me a PM in here if you like. Thanks again and I will let you know when we are ready for more testers. Sorry that I can't invite all of you right now. I'll try to add some more with one of the next waves. |

| Looks like another LotR/WoW game. I really like the animations though. Hope it works out for them. Whoever made that vid: When making gameplay videos don't make the first 25 seconds the loading screen, just skip it and get to the action. |

| I'm a big fan of imagination and free enterprise, but do you seriously think you're going to get more than 271 North American subscribers to something like that? I'd love to help out in beta, right after you remove the click-to-move bullshit that nobody is going to want to have anything to do with. |

| Click to move just doesn't appeal to most North American players. I don't understand why time and time again, MMOs brought over here are not 'localized' for the audience. /shrug

| Agree about the click to move stuff. It's just a horrible "feature". After trying many games that use it and hating it every time, I've finally given up on it completely. It could be the next coming of christ but if I have to click to be saved, I'd rather just go to hell.

+36 Internets | Hadn't looked at this at all. Took a look through its features on its official site and it has some interesting facets, which have been discussed on here in the past. Multi class system (though only six basic classes) Listed under features : Server vrs server PvP Epic (!) crafting system with the ability to improve existing items Its obvious that vast swathes of the game are mimicking other games, which I've no problem with. Its going out on a limb taking it to the extent they have in naming places to be reminiscent of existing zones in other games eg Silverspring, Howling Mountains, Sascilla Steppes, Aslan Valley. I like the combat animations in the vid Hat linked. Its almost FF combat graphics in a WoW setting - I hope this is built upon as the game develops. I'll certainly set up an account and give it a go. |

| It seems intriguing. I like the combat animations and the ability to switch classes and level them up. I have doubts that this will make it, but it seems like a worthwhile effort. I do think they should find an American with writing skills to write the text for the web page though. The sentence structure is a bit off in places, and overall it feels a bit juvenile... like a 6th grader wrote it. Maybe I'm just overly picky, but when I explore a website that represents a product, I expect a more professional presentation. |
