| done, and better for it. ![]() Actually I've probably pretty much got all the WAR fanboys on ignore at this point. (All 4 of them) What pitiful tools, they are kind of sad.

| I understand all most people have to go on is the 1-20 WAR game. But I promise you if you had access to the elder server and could log on a level 40 for an hour of pvp and compare it to the same class at level 20 you would understand what a disservice you are doing to yourself and the game. I have always been a PVEer who loved to PVP, but this game has shifted me entirely. I absolutely love the PvP in WAR. LOVE it. Over the course of the preview weekend I did probably 15 keep sieges(at one point we managed to control every keep but Mandred's) despite being outnumbered massively by order(on my server the greenskin area was down for the first day, so destruction was at a severe disadvantage). I can safely say the experience at level 12 in WAR was better than any pvp I ever took part in in WoW. I can also say my toolset at 12 was miniscule compared to what I had at my disposal by the time I hit 20, and that's only the halfway point of the game. Hell it's less than that when you consider 80 renown levels. I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you even remotely enjoy PvP in a staged environment, an open environment, or in a keep situation you must play warhammer at release. Level at least one character to the cap and see how you like it. It is 50 bucks, and the month by itself will be worth it, but it may be so much more. The pathing issues are new and will be fixed, the combat has improved massively recently and the way the devs are talking that will only continue, and if this weekend is any indication you will spend every hour you play in the game learning a new way to use your class. Hell, we spent two hours outnumbered 35-10 basically just luring people as tanks into range of our cannons and blowing them to smithereens. The game is fun, period. Sure it has its flaws, but if you think you'd be better off playing WoW and doing things that will be rendered obsolete in a couple of months your brain works differently than mine. Give it a shot, at the worst you have a time killer until WOTLK comes out.

| I'm going to try it. Worst case scenario I'll spend a similar amount of time on it as I would most single player games these days and be done with it, but I suspect it will be more than that. For fuck's sake, I still enjoy wow battlegrounds, it doesn't take much to come up with something more interesting than those. |

| ------------------------- Folks, Okay, it was a wild and crazy weekend in WAR and while some of you might be tempted to go all Samurai on us for a couple of the bugs, overall things went very, very well. As long-time readers of my notes now, I won’t do a Nick Winters and we are anything but pathological liars so we’ll always own up when we make a mistake and we made a couple here. So, let’s talk amongst ourselves and have a little chat about the top nine list of the biggest issues and where we stand in regards to them. (1) Client Crashes – I’ve talked about this as one of the reasons why we didn’t release the NDA until recently. Here’s the current status. - Just a little too many currently. While we are better off than we were in beta, we must do better still before release. - A number of players will lower spec machines had more CTDs than higher spec machines. - Number of fixes already in pipeline. They are working their way through our testing servers and will be pushed to the players once they have been vetted internally. - Engineering time for CTD issue has remained heavily committed; our top engineers are working on the various issues. (2) Monster Pathing and AI – Well, what can I say other than not even all of King Tut’s wealth could have made us feel better for messing up on this one. Well, maybe all his wealth. - “Yes, that monster seems to be behaving a little oddly”. Monster responsiveness was very sketchy, odd pauses and tethering issues. - “Oh, was I supposed to go in that direction?” Pathing sometimes wonky - mobs get stuck or go in wrong direction. - Utter confusion at times as both monsters and pets will engage and disengage seemingly at random - Internal server optimizations last week broke the pathing/AI. And I mean really, really broke it. This truly was a “Opps, we broke this code” moment for us and we don’t have many of them. - Going to ensure that this problem is fixed this week. As I said in my first Preview Weekend, this is a major concern for us. Fortunately we have no underwater combat in this game or some of the NPCs may have been appropriately dubbed land sharks. (3) Pet Responsiveness – With similar issues to Monster Pathing and AI, this was not our finest hour. - Need to transfer "combat responsiveness" fixes to pets - have pet move immediately on button press. - “Oh no, Mr. Bill!” Pets suffer from same pathing and lack of response as general monsters. Pets hopping around like they were headed to Del Staters. (4) Global Cooldown Timers –This seems to be a hot topic for players to talk about. However, things aren’t always as they seem. - Reality and perception are two different things, Warhammer has a GCD of 1.4s, WoW has 1.5s - “Ability not ready” messaging needs to be improve, a sound effect if Global Cooldown in effect, maybe more cowbell? - Need to improve on the feeling of sluggishness of the GCD and UI. Bug with display where our timer shows 2s when it is really 1.4 - The next best thing to a queue is? We will add in better "slop timer" to allow players 0.3s extra to pre-queue a second ability followup. (5) Better animations - So much more coming in the next two versions of the client. We are currently incorporating serious amounts of new animations into the game. Hopefully nobody will sneak a coneheads model into the game. - Look at what my XXXX does now? Over the next month we will address many class-attack specific issues across all 20 careers. - “U think you can dance?” Nope, but we have added new racial animations for movement, fidgets and redid some emotes. (6) Texture Blurring - Textures are currently cached in a manner that results in blurriness on entering a region. - We will look at adding a client scalar. (7) Client Performance – This is one of those issues - Need better scalers on effects, sounds, graphics, etc to help lower end machines (already lots of additions to coders) - This thing loves memory like Dan Aykroyd loves bass. We have already improved the memory consumption of the client and taken 100M out of current test best. (8) Targeting, Camera, etc - Currently our targeting system differs from many MMOs in terms of our features and how we go about things. We will identify and make a more standard initial setup but allow flexibility. - Will add additional keybinding selections to allow flexibility (9) Renown rank gear - Unfortunately, a new bug (well an old bug we fixed and then managed to break again) which allowed Rank 10 RR 6 players can go to Tier 2 to get better gear and then come back to Tier 1 and own scenarios. We are currently working on a fix. I hope you enjoyed the Preview Weekend and we thank you for your interest and we hope, patronage of our game. Guess what folks, that’s the news and I am outta here! | i feel like im the only one who is going to play the game just for the PQ quests. That being said the pvp (which i usually hate in other MMOs) i kind of enjoy in WAR though i think this goes with what most everyone else is saying. I'm just a poor man so I might be off base with my enjoyment of gaming.

+66 Internets | Gonna wait for a trial or play using someone else's account. Once new game smell wears off I often regret having paid for a game (DAoc/FFxi/Lotro) and trial periods were enough to convince me to not buy others (VG/AoC). It doesn't look like a bad game, and a lot of the idea's/mechanics are things I've wanted for a very long time (no mana? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.) But it's a pvp game at the end of the day and those only hold my interest for so long. After a year if they are still kicking out new area's to fight in on a monthly basis I'll pick it up but pvp gets stale fast when you only have the same handful of maps to play 3 fucking years later. So I voted I'm going to wait and see how WoTLK turns out. If PvP remains terrible even with Lake Wintersgrasp and a year from now I'm still fucking doing warsong gulch I may pick up warhammer to get my pvp fix. |

+4 Internets | Will absolutely be playing. Anyone who likes MMO's should at least try it. Anyone who likes PvP absolutely should play it. Even if you loved TF2 or CoD4 or similar games, you should try WAR. On the PvE side, Public Quests and the Tome of Knowledge... in addition to the various dungeons and standard quests... will keep you engaged. |

Warhammer: I queue at any time and when I lose I still have fun, and get a decent amount of xp and renown. After a scenario I am teleported back to where I was and go back to what I was doing. Open world RvR is very real and has some vibrant, siege play (beyond the AI which needs work). Yeah, the PvE content isn't as solid as WoW, but I am freaking done raiding the same content. Its glacial speed in all its glory. I would rather grind up a few toons, and I use grind lightly in Warhammer's sense since it flies by with the RvR, than do HMGT or Sunwell or Arena sitting around in Shatt wondering what sidegrade item I want to shoot for. Even adding content at a moderate pace would keep a lot of people interested for soooo long considering the alternative. Yeah WotLK is a big bag of content, but that'll be blown through in two months.
