Looks like the sorceress icon, which I guess is just some kind of Dark Elf emblem. Sauron's eye is actually quite different, at least in my memory.

Anyone else having the issue that when you alt tab out and come back you get a black screen and have to close WAR out and log back in to get a picture again?

I am hearing that from a fair number of people, never hits me though (I don't do it a lot, but I do it once or twice per login). Someone was saying it has to do with underpowered computers? I don't know.

Have read from people saying though that if they uninstall then reinstall from DVDs it clears up a lot of performance issues including minimizing issues. Haven't gotten my retail yet so I can't tell myself if there is indeed a performance increase.

One of my problems is that after a while of playing, 1-2 hours?, NPCs lack the symbols over their head and spelleffects are missing.

With my retail copy, I get less alt-tab/minimize lag than I do with WoW on my laptop (nothing special, 2gb ram, intel core2 duo). The only significant issue I have is right now on my girlfriend's wireless, if I lose connection to the network I crash-to-desktop and have to reload, and re-enter the queue.

It seems like a lot of people are enjoying the game. I wanted to ask (and will promptly receive negs for this) if this game is worth buying for someone who is completely dried up with WoW and won't be buying WOTLK? I can't sift through 310 pages for when other people asked.

Turn off Forced AA.

They really, really need to add anti-healing shit sub T3. If the other team has lots of healers, forget it. I love seeing 5 dps on an Rune Priest and barely hurting him thanks to the other healers you'll never get to because of chain roots/snares. The only class that can put the hurt on them that I've seen is Witch Elves and they die faster than you can say "Fuck this targeting system sucks."

I see big nerfs coming for Swordmaster. They are almost always at the top of the damage chart and they are tough as hell to kill. I'd imagine WH's are going to have some serious envy issues as they do what WH's are supposed to do but better.

On the flip side, Squig Herders and Shadow Warriors could use a buff. SW's are more annoying than anything. I consider them the smallest threat of all classes... hell, I kill Ironbreakers before I bother with them. Magus/Engineer seem pretty weak so far as well.

Not bored yet, but it is getting really repetetive and has a very limited scope.

Not much to really adventure around and see due to such small racial areas, and that will probably end up limiting the appeal of the game.

BTW I don't see where the scenarios are much different then WoW. For example, you all zerg in and capture 3 flags and hold try to hold them until you gain enough points to win...gee so original

FWIW, I have already been able to get into several unfinished areas of the game so there is more land out there they just haven't opened it yet or populated it. You can just walk into one of them up above the Norse controlled town in the Empire lowbie area.

If you like PvP, yes.

If you only want PvE, absolutely not.

I love PVP, but not the way WoW transformed it from fun-getting ranks-awesome time to grindfest.

Does War do a better job presently?
