As someone else said no, and good luck with the patcher dying a horrible screaming death tomorrow. I'd really recommend, if you know someone with the CE, see if you can borrow their account long enough to get your client patched today.

People can spin it all they want but open servers simply allow the ability to grief lower levels.

This game was designed for core rules, which in turn were designed for PvP (RvR) so they are more than sufficient.

The open vs. core ruleset thing has been beaten to death in this thread already, might want to go back through the thread a little bit if you're really curious about pros and cons.

So I'm one of those "loltitles" kind of person and I'm wondering if we will be able to get the CE titles on Thursday after we put our codes in IF we are already level 20.

I'd imagine doing the PVP ones will be semi annoying as a chicken but couldn't I just group with others and when my group kills people I'll get them done that way?

On the open vs. core, the sole fact that they removed a lot Open servers from tomorrow and added a flood of Core's means the players are not going open that much (so far, it is REALLY early to tell tho). Open has the same potential to be ghost towns as old WoW pvp servers - we like to hit where it hurts and I bet many will min/max the two tier difference to cause some real pain.

Glad the option is there tho, the more options for the same cash = win.

So as expected, Order/Destru ratio is terrible on most servers here in europe(SE already started). So much that we just decided to swap to order at the last minute. I was getting 20mins log in queues at 11AM on an open server today, and 15mins wait between scenarios, we switched to order, only had 20ish log in queues in primetime(about 10mins) vs 150+ on destru, and almost instant scenarios non stop the whole day.

The biggest issue was rechoosing classes, since some people didn't want to play their mirrors. Mostly, our chosen switched to warrior priest and I switched from DoK to IB. I totally hate how my char looks, but goddamn is this class fucking fun to play. Rest went from shaman to archmages and sorcs to bright wizards, so not much different I guess, but at least now we can get reliable healing reductions(via the bright wizards).

And starting lvl 6, we've been steamrolling guilds and pugs alike. After lvl 8, we just kept winning in under 4mins on Gates of Erkrund, for 5-7k xp I believe. Pretty fun I gotta say, this map is so easy with a full group. I think this is much more fun than what we'd have experienced on destru, waiting for queues by roaming in a giant zerg in rvr zones(hell when I went there to pickup some stupid hydromel in empire/chaos rvr area, I got hit by ~20people, lost the count but I'm not exxagerating, and there were a whole 3orders in the area). Also the level of stupidity from basic destru pug is really impressive, so much that playing with 6pugs every scenarios would be simply painful.

Now that also means destru will control the zones and the keeps for quite some time, since getting into scenarios is so easy for the order.

WoW PvP servers are the most populated ones. People have been begging for PvE to PvP server transfers for years(they just added them), because a lot of PvE servers are actually ghosttowns and it's much easier finding a lively pvp server. However, WoW is WoW, WAR is something else, open servers might end up as ghost towns. It's not quite a FFA server though, it's not like it's crazy pvp shit.

From what I gather.

Open RvR = open/flagged pvp anywhere and everywhere (aside from major cities) and there is rules in place to penalize/stop high levels from ganking lower levels.

Aside from the chicken/penalization how is this any diff from the WoW pvp servers?

Perhaps im just not getting it...

See there's this new invention called google, when I type in "warhammer server types" this handy link pops up with a description of the different server types.

Amazing!

guess i just fail to see why these open RvR servers will be ghost towns and whatnot.

Seems pretty straight forward and normal to me, thanks..

I don't agree either, was just pointing out they're 2 different games, so the results might differ. Why servers with more PvP would fail on a PvP oriented game though, I don't know. I guess maybe if it was full FFA, some people dislike those. But you can still level to cap without stepping outside a safe zone on an open rvr server so don't think it's too bad.

At least in europe, the open servers seem more/at least as much crowded as the core servers.

No one wants to get ganked lvling up. It's stupid even if they are the same tier level.

There wouldn't be "more pvp". All open PvP causes is to disperse where PVP occurs and raises the amount of ganking that takes place. I think most people would rather PVP in a zone that was designed for PVP.

Speak for yourself?

Having to constantly look over my shoulder due to the threat of other players is the only thing that keeps mindless grinding/questing interesting to me.

Argh, Amazon screwed me! "We'll have someone get back to you within 48 hours to tell you why your codes aren't there".

Does direct2drive consider Gmail a "free email address" for the purposes of ordering through them? I cancelled my Amazon order.

I dunno but I preordered from Amazon on a Saturday, emailed my codes on a Tuesday. Everything I've heard says that No, D2D does NOT recognize Gmail.
