| I'm really trying to get myself hooked on this game so I'm going to try and set myself up for success. I've read alot of impressions by people can someone tell me what class you personally found the most fun from 1-10. I'm thinking maybe BW since I've heard good things about the class and the empire starting zone. I'm also going to try out Shaman tonight. |

| It'd be a shame if the game flops because of all those bugs ![]()

Chosen is really fun for PQ's for me. Had a great time last night with one, they would be the opposite of Warrior Priests at low level, a lot of 22222222 business going on.

| Heh, I kept getting destroyed by people as a Swordmaster in RvR. Switched to a shield/1hder, and it feels like I have an 85% chance to block. I'll have 5 people beating on me at once, and maybe, just maybe 1 out of every 10 hits will actually land. I held a tunnel full of 10 people beating all on me (all while my healer was standing in the background, morons) and just sat there and held them the whole time while we capped both the flags. It was fun sure, but I expect blocking to get a serious nerf. Another thing I've noticed as Order, does every single Destruction class have a lifetap of sorts? I've encountered many fights where the minimal dps I was putting out couldn't beat the regen some of these other classes had, which just led to an endless fight. Whatever class the little Dark Elf half-naked dual-wielding bitches are, are the ones I seemingly have the most problems with. Edit: Oh and Shaman too....FUCK Shaman. I can't even fucking solo kill a Shaman. |

The below system runs with the clunkyness that you talk about mainly in large rvr battles. Where the animations are culled back to improve performance thats part of the engines design. Meaning if you have a system near that spec wise your going to have that issue till you upgrade. Amd 3700 9600gt 2gigs corsair ram raptor drive win xp The below system is my main gaming system now. I have zero lag, zero clunkyness, and zero animation culling. Basicly I run the game full out with zero problems. Obviousy this is my personal experience but another RL friend also runs two systems with almost identical specs and we have the same results. | I am going to call bullshit on the no clunkyness. I see no mention of the engine scaling back anything automatically based on your computer especially when all video settings are set to maxed out. Can anybody get see any official confirmation of this? |

, most don't in 1-10's). Still, I strafed constantly to ensure no attacks coming in from behind where I'd lose the benefit of the shield and my block triggered shield attacks felt like they come up constantly.Do Swordmasters get a knockdown? The only way I've been able to kill Zealots and Shaman are by attacking them as an Ironbreaker, snaring, use the attack that boosts my STR for 20 seconds, then Taunt. By this time they've noticed me and have attacked me with spells...this triggers their auto-attack, which causes me to block (I attack from behind preferably, and as soon as I taunt I strafe to be in their front view, usually easily done due to snare), and as soon as the block triggers, I use my knockdown. This leaves them on the ground with my Taunt still active, so then I start whaling away with my +30% damage bonus. Clickclickclickclickclick (I swear it seems that even though the GCD isn't done, you can attack faster..i know, crack fantasy). By the time they get up, I re-apply snare (the timing usually works out perfectly for this), and start the whole thing over again. Usually only need to do this 2-3x to kill one. If I have a real dps melee with me, it usually only takes one. Come to think of it, this works against most Destruction.

| No. The default, top of the line, best animations...suck. I don't care about scaling back. They suck by default. And I don't know if swordmasters get a knockdown, but I don't have one yet at 10. Makes me want to switch to ironbreaker. Knockdown + knockbacks = good times. And the shield seems balanced since, you do almost nothing with it. And while yes, you can hold 10 people beating on you, which I've done and it's hilarious...if they attack your healer, they'll win. It's mainly just idiots. See WoW. When you run a warrior out in a field and start owning people with a healer hiding in a bush, you dominate. But when they notice the healer, you lose. Same deal. People are just, on average, complete morons. We got into one of those endless fights, they had 2 shamans and 2 black orcs and random dps. We had a runepriest, archmage, swordmaster, and ironbreaker, and some random dps. We had us tanks focusing on the shamans, and the dps killing the dps. They couldn't keep everyone up, so their dps started dying, and we'd kill the shamans. While they all attacked us tanks. Last edited by Zerai : 09-10-2008 at 10:01 AM. |

| It's definitely not scaling, it's a permanent on thing. Any animations within a few feet of me run at their full frames and everything else seems to have half their frames cut out (like say 10 out of 20 frames on everything moving in the distance). It looks really silly for a game coming out in this day. It might just be the only thing that is making this game look horrible in motion and if they remove this robot animation thing then this game will look MUCH better in motion. |

| Agreed completely. I was totally psyched about playing one at release, but after playing two now (during the PW and open beta) I just don't think I'll be able to stomach it. The class definitely suffers AOC Assassin-syndrome. IE light armor, low hit points, but is required to be in the thick of things. I honestly think our DPS is somewhat subpar for the tradeoffs, at least at the levels I've played. (15 and lower) Executions don't seem to scale very well. The DD execution is pretty much pointless after a few levels as it does maybe 10% of an even level healer's health, which is what? One tick of their HoTs? That leaves Burn Heretic, which again HoTs pretty much counteract completely. Once I got to T2 scenarios I just plain could not take out a healer. Their hps was > than my dps. I'd like to believe Mythic will tweak WH and WE post-release, but they've made it pretty clear in the past during DAOC that the devs just downright dislike rogue archetypes. That was the reason for no real stealth, afterall.

WAR's stated that there is an intentional distance animation cut-out to reduce lag and increase drawing distance, which I personally prefer to not being able to see someone in the far distance.

Gameplay > Graphics in this case. Besides, gives me favorable flashbacks to the old days on Nintendo where some games with battles had sprites continually doing 2-3 frames of fighting in the background to make it seem like a bigger fight.... ![]() That being said, it did feel herky-jerky at some points last night when I was fighting, but I attribute that to the game having been on 6 hours straight at that point....
