| Hrm, I dunno. As it is, WAR's had quite a bit of bad press in the last half a year or so. That on top of it having graphics on par with PoP era EQ1 and I can't see it beating out AoC's opening month, no matter how fun the gameplay.

| Decent fan made trailer I think it does a pretty good job of representing WAR as it highlights some of the key components. |

On a side note, I just got back from PAX. The Warhammer booth had a pretty good crowd around it, it about matched WoW's booth population (at least in people per sq.ft. WoW's booth was 2-3x the size). Unfortunately it seemed like all the characters were low levels, I think it would've been more interesting if they gave people some higher level templates to play around with. People seemed to enjoy the cinematic before the keynote as well. I only wish I wasn't missing the Warhammer presentation tomorrow. ![]()

I know that the Warhammer miniatures and misc. are not entirely what you were referring to, but then in reference to DAoC players, that's currently around what... 100k subs? WAR could do well based entirely on DAoC and Warhammer fan-based subs but it's unlikely to see a large amount of subs from anywhere else. Yes, entirely because of it's Y2K grade graphics. I know, I know. You all vehemently disagree with me and wish my soul eternal damnation etc etc and it's all an artistic choice and nobody can pay more than the $200 it would take to buy a computer that would play this game anyway(ATI 9800's are bitchin expensive), and so on and so forth. The fact of the matter is we're supposedly in a new generation of gaming possibilities and if your character's face is back to 64-bit, nobody is going to give a damn unless they really really want to. As an aside, I didn't say the AoC kept their subs. I'm saying it'd be surprising if WAR did even that well. Edit: I should say that I very well recognize this game as a good game and that I personally have no grief with the graphics or really anything else within the game (aside from technical issues). I am just speculating on the projected success of the game and the bull-shit the dev in the previously mentioned interview was throwing out. You'll notice my involvement in this thread was initially limited to 500k subs =! 2nd placelol.

But yes, Jacobs typically leaves out the primarily Asian market MMO's. You can argue if that's fair or not, it's just something he's done previously.

| Registered User | No computer will be able to handle hundreds of characters on the screen and expect more than a crawl in fps with the sort of detail you want. Just ask anyone that did AoC keep sieges on a mid range computer (that had a cap on how many was there also). The new generation isn't here yet. Also note the graphics sliders weren't available in Warhammer beta. Warhammer will definitely do well for the first few months. The question is whether it will continue to after that. | Yes, because only games with amazing state of the art visuals have success in this market right? Just how retarded are you? WoW had dated graphics the day it launched and we all know what a horrible fucking failure that was right?! Gameplay and fun factor are what determine a games success. If graphics was all important to the masses then WoW would of been a barren wasteland the day AoC launched. Also, lets not over do it and pretend like WAR is some 1990s graphic design. Its graphics are at the very least comparable to WoWs, if not better which I believe they are. If you are one of those special ed people who puts graphics on the top of their list then I am going assume you don't play MMOs right? Any MMO that has been released with "great graphics" has pretty much bombed. Wait.. your not one of Vanguards 5 players are you? |
