Those 3rd Tier talents are intended to stack with each level, just as the others do (hence the increasing point costs). Of course, you'll need to be at a high RR level to even see any, so that makes sense.

+12 crit is pretty big, especially for healers if you consider some of the tactics out there for them.

Combine +12 healing crit from renown with the +10% heal crit tactic Archmages and Shaman get with Restorative Burst.

With +22% heal crit and each crit heal restores 40 AP over 3 seconds, they can spam the group heal for a long time.

Yeah it is going to make them pretty amazing back up healers at least. Rune Priest focusing on single targets, with Archmage spamming group heals would make for a brutal group.

I'm more intrigued whether HoTs can crit (DoTs can and there's much whining about it) and then whether those crits trigger on crit-effects...

Looking back 30 pages I am really in awe of the progress Mythic has made. Anyone that got into wow for the PvP will at the very least check out warhammer. That should be a ton of people.

Yes, HoTs can crit, and they can trigger critical dependent effects. HoTs can also proc effects like Pass it On.

One issue I had was with Willpower's contribution to HoTs. It seems to be operating purely off of the instant cast coefficient, and thus the +heal contribution to HoTs was much smaller than the big 3 second heal. I'm not sure if that's a bug or intended, but hopefully it's a bug.

that one thingthat restores action pts does say it only works on direct healing.. its kinda cool i guess but i think there are better things for archmage to put tactics in.

Anyone know what are the real differences between Swordmaster and Ironbreaker later on?

Everyone thinks IB's are OP but haven't seen Swordmasters at high level in action. There is a pretty big difference in CC power which IB has all over SM, however SM's are pretty much the elite dps tanks in the game because they have great spirit debuffs and do a lot of spirit dmg.

A brand spanking new 31 bolstered up SM fighting a 40 tank of any class is a joke. Other tank classes are doing physical dmg which any tank is good at mitigating while a SM is doing spirit dmg and raping everyone.

So real differences, IB's get better CC, SM's get a SHIT TON better dmg.

From my experience so far (limited to the Public Weekend stuff & later with the open beta since I pre-ordered), WAR will be to PVP what WoW is to PVE: Defining moments in each.

To me, WAR gives me all the PVP/RvR I wish WoW could offer me (and no the stupid Arenas bullshit isn't PVP). But what WoW does excel in, is it's PVE offerings. THAT is where you'll see each games grow and expand upon.

I can easily see some PVP servers (and PVE server PVP'ers) leaving WoW for WAR and never looking back. Some PVE'ers will leave as well (some will return to WoW as the constant PVP/RvR will be too much for the Blueberrys out there).

But for me, I'll definately be there. I still like WoW & aren't ready to completely move on. but when I want to PVP/RvR, I'll have a place to go to, instead of a queue for my 800 millionth AV match or an Arena I couldn't care less about.

Interview with Mark Jacobs about MMO's competing with WoW and what it takes. A bit cocky but fun read.

Quote:
Mythic VP and lead “Warhammer Online” designer Mark Jacobs said it wouldn’t take a billion dollars for a competing MMO to take on “World of Warcraft” — maybe only $100 million.

“When certain people throw out ridiculous numbers, you know they’re throwing out ridiculous numbers because they want to scare off competition or they want to make themselves seem invincible and that sort of nonsense,” he said, referring to a statement Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick made at an investor meeting earlier this year.

“Realistically, if you’re going into this space for the first time, and you want to compete with ‘WoW’ and you want to compete with us — because we’re going into that same space — you’ve got to make sure that you have at least 100 million dollars,” he said.

He's under the impression that half a million subscribers (what he assumes FFXI and EQ2 are at) is the #2 spot in the industry? Lineage much? MMO much?
