This game will be a hit, Blizzard is pushing wotlk so much (with a new free content patch for TBC) because they are really afraid of losing more subs to WAR.
Once the combat issues are fixed, this will be the 2nd most popular MMO.
Blizzard released the same type of content patch before the last expansion (talents, new spells, etc), not a big deal.

Why would Blizzard be afraid of a game that at most will get 500k-750k subs? And alot of those will be from people that will keep their WoW accounts open - it's what everyone I know is planning to do.

Pre order

Thanks for the info about pre ordering from Amazon guys. I canceled my Best Buy pre order and will use my gift cards another time. I went ahead and pre-ordered two copies from Amazon and got the codes within minutes so me and my cousin should be ready to rock for the open beta. We are going to try two Shadow Warriors I think with another friend possibly healing.

I don't think Blizzard is "afraid" of War, however no company wants to lose even 500k of people paying $15 a month. (and these are real subs, not the ambiguous Asian sub numbers)

I'm of the opinion this game will have over a million playing in NA after launch, how long they retain this base is really up to them and how they manage the game from that point forward.

Smart money is on having both a WoW and WAR account at the same time if PvE is your thing. Best of both worlds.

Like I said, alot of those people will have both a WAR and WoW sub at the same time.

I will keep both WoW and this. WoW really shines when brand new content is released (expansion) but gets boring toward the middle to end of the expansions life cycyle unless you raid, in which case I dont. I will play out my characters to 80, do some BG again to get geared up semi well and then there really is nothing left for me in WOW.

Well I can see restarting my WoW sub sometime in the future to burn through WotLK as well, but I'm certainly not paying for it until such time.

Then again, if War manages to hold my interest, fix their outstanding bug issues, and not go the way of most mmo's and nerf the ever living hell out of classes post release I may not have the time to pick up WotLK.

I'd say the most interesting thing about WotLK to me is the ability to 10 man all the raids, quite easy to put together a solid 10 man group. I've given up on WoW pvp ever being good again.

Yea, I was mostly referring to what was mentioned in that quote (hand bones). If the animations are getting as bad/jerky as folks are making them out to be, it makes me wonder which bones they believe to be "non-essential," how many bones they have in total and how they are handling their removal (ie, if they're removing them completely, how the kinetics are set up for each of the bones that the removed bone was previously rigged to). Guess I'll see soon enough for myself

It is going to get more than 500k-750k subs. Doesn't mean Blizzard should be afraid b/c WAR is too niche to rival them but this game is going to be a large hit and will be entrenched as the #2 MMO for a long time.

If they can fix combat lag there's no reason this game won't have 2 mil subs between NA and Europe. Many parts of the game are just plain better than their WoW equivalent. It's just that right now the combat issues keep the whole package from coming together really well.

I played one to level 8. It's a strong class, tanks are great in this game. My problem with the Chosen is the aura mechanic. Twisting is not fun to me. It is tedious and annoying. I don't like going into every fight having a 4.5 second clock in the back of my head that reminds me to change aura. Not fun.

However, b/c the UI is so customizable expect an addon soon that is an elaborate macro that does a tripe aura twist for you. Of course that will piss me off too. I have addons that make every super easy. I actually wish they'd just tie the auras to their core abilities and they'd trigger for a few seconds each time you used an associated skill. That or get rid of the aura lingering so the twisting can be done away with.

#2 is good enough for me. Anything to light a fire under Blizzard so they aren't so damn slow updating the game. Everyone talks about how many subs and how much money Blizz is making. Imagine what their numbers would be if people like me stayed subscribed year round instead of cancelling while waiting on content patches.
