| Herders aren't necessarily bad, just for the preview their pets were totally fucking bugged so they sucked. They will be the most underplayed class at release b/c of the horrible experience from preview weekend though. That I can guarantee. |

| I almost wish some game would decide not to have pet classes at all. Pet pathing almost never works correctly, and balancing pet classes is a pain in the ass as well. I guess enough people like playing them that you almost have to have them in your game, though. |

| I though this game wasn't going to have pets :/ When they were talking about the classes, they said that instead of controlling a pet, you would wear it, like armor. (and like the cinematic trailer) |

+4 Internets | I can understand the reasoning, but it is kinda unfortunate that every class has an exact or near exact mirror on the opposite side.

| Yes, because the cluster-f that every game devolves into when classes aren't matched becomes a "that side has [x] and is overpowered in [y] situation WAAAAH!" is really what we want here.

+4 Internets | After playing both a Squig Herder and Shadow Warrior to 16, I'm pretty unimpressed with both, although I like the Squig Herder more because 1) it's not a high elf and 2) you seem to get more flexibility on what abilities you can use and don't have to deal with stance dancing. The Shadow Warrior has some annoying bugs right now that decrease the fun a bit, but I'm more disappointed with their overall mechanics and power. Both classes do considerably less DPS than a BW or Sorc in exchange for a bit more survivability and MDPS options. However, they're not survivable enough to really make much of a difference being light armor wearers and the MDPS options are pretty limited and obviously a lot less powerful than a true MDPS class. They seem to be stuck in the middle between a MDPS and a nuker. They aren't terrible or broken, but mediocre would probably be the best way to describe them. Then again, I only played in the lower levels, so I can't say how they stack up in the later game. Quote:

| I played both a RP and DoK, and I have to say that the DoK's survivability is rediculously bad. You're somehow supposed to stay alive, DPS and heal with a rather limited ability pool while being more flimsy than any of the pure casting healers, like the RP. With my RP I was able to keep my people alive, stay alive myself and do more DPS than my DoK could've ever dreamed of. That's not to say I didn't have fun on my DoK, but only on the PVE side of things. |

Shadow Hunter != Squig Herder Marauder != Witch Hunter Witch Elf != White Lion Chosen != Ironbreaker You could make an argument for bright wizard/sorc, black orc/swordmaster, goblin/archmage and rp/zealot, but they are still a far cry from 'near exact mirrors', something that becomes increasingly obvious as you level up.

| I noticed the same with the DoK, there for a while we were a beast and they did a lot of changes to "adjust down damage" of the DoK slowing the killing in PvE. It seems in PvP we are a wet noodle or more likely I just sucked. I changed over to an archmage for this weekend and had a great time. Good dps for solo play and great healing, I have to try the warrior priest again and decide on caster or melee healer. |

Shadowhunter mirror is marauder, Squig herder mirror is White Lion. They're actually the exceptions, since one is melee while the other is ranged, but they use the same mechanics(stances for first couple, pets for 2nd). Witch Elf are the mirrors of Witch Hunters, and Chosen are the mirrors of Swordmaster while Black Orcs are the mirrors of Iron Breakers. Chosen and SM don't mirror well, mostly because the chosen mirror and the SM mirrors were removed(black guard and knight of the blazing sun).
