A liberal scripting/UI mod system like in WoW, but in a PVP game, scares me. Though without giant coordinated raids, maybe I won't have to download so much crap just to be raid-competent.

I'm still not seeing any 700+ MB patch. I got a small patch, but nothing big like some people are reporting being able to download.

This is true for most of them if your a small grp doing it. If its a big zerg(like the first PQ's are with all the lvl 5s doing it) you get less influence per PQ completion but you do them alot faster so you get alot more bonu's per stage completion.

Example, We had a group of 5 doing t3 PQs. We did about 2 and a half, as when your just learning them and they have these hard to see fucking objectives, and you run around for 8 minutes looking for the last little brown root that matches the surroundings, you don't get much done. We finally found a nice PQ , and with 1 group doing it , you max the influence fairly fast(as the influence per kill is only split 5 ways, and you can just AE down the first stages 95% of the time). Some zones have 3-4 influence area's each also, so you may max one, then move 300 yards to another camp and its a whole new influence.

Some of the rewards are very worth it, and better then the renown gear you can get. There's a very nice 59int/49 wounds, llv 24 staff in the chaos t3 zone, which is better then the 21 renown staff you can get.

Thanks Much.

Finally figured it out...jeez I'm just a fucking dumbass.

I had a small 9mb patch as well, I'm thinking maybe the client we downloaded (assuming you arent in CB) was more up to date than the CB one and they needed to DL a new patch being pushed before the preview weekend starts.

No, it doesn't work that way. At all. You can group just fine through all stages. Works even better that way.

Yeah because we all want to start PvPing naked each tier. PQ's are great for gearing up. Not only through reputation which everyone gets gear from, but the PQ loot is damn good as well.

Stop posting.

Yes, in a pvp game, god forbid, you actually need to conquer their city before you kill the King. I know some folks want to logon at level 1 and raid the Emperor, but it is a pvp oriented game. And I'd rather have the final PvE raid instanced rather than Joe Cool and Johnny Headshot lurking around soaking up reknown and end up getting the loot Guilds earned.
I think you misunderstood a lot of what I wrote. The T4 content (call it the higher end content if you want) felt very shallow to me while I played through it. The 3 zones that make up T4 (Reikland, Praag, and Reikland) felt smaller than the previous Tiers, especially Reikland. Sure each had lots of quests to do, but it just didn't feel as large as the other zones I played through. As for the dungeons...I know only of a few; 2 in each Capital (different levels, I think), then Mt Gunbad, Bastion Stair and Lost Vale. Right?

About the PQ's, again you misunderstood. Most people leveling up will do the first stages solo, its just better for gaining rep/inf, but if there are no other people around, that will be as far as they can go with that PQ. Yes, the loot from the "Massive Loot Bags" is nice, but it pales compared to the Renown gear you can get easier and quicker. You really will not need any other gear other than Renown past RR6, unless you don't take part in RvR at all and just level up to 40. It is very easy to level up quick in PvE, but the gear you get will not help you much in RvR due to lower stats and low resists (if any).

So, since the best path to gear up past mid-T1 is from RvR, I think it may be difficult to find a lot of interest in doing any of the dungeons (more than once), but we've not seen the quality of gear from the big bosses of those dungeons. If that gear has good resists and good stats great, it will be worth using in RvR.

Saying the biggest raid in the game is a PvE raid is a bit misleading, since it is a locked encounter that requires PvP victories to open up. So call it a hybrid encounter.

So what server are the goons going to?

They made Horde side Mal'Ganis unbearable. I'm not looking to accidentally join the zerg again.

There's a lot of good weapon upgrades, that you can get from influence, that fill gaps between renown gear and even some that will beat out renown weapons at the same level req.

Armor I agree with, as its pure stat based and has next to no resist ever, not bad for pve gear, but not something you want to run into RVR with.

As for the PQ's past stage when your solo, pretty much spot on depending on the stage 2, some are easy and soloable, some have the champions, and then only a few classes can solo them. But PQ's weren't designed as a solo thing you can hop into, they should require a group if not more to complete, allow for some social interaction.

This doesn't stop you from soloing influence if your past the leveling curve or in a desolate area. Most quest will have you killing in a PQ, so your going to be gaining influence anyway, and grinding some of the influence places in t3 and beyond is not bad for the rewards/money/loot table. Just mainly have to stick to stage 1, maybe a stage 2 depening on the PQ, and either go quest nearby to wait for a reset, or hit another PQ(there are so many, its quite easy to get to another one).

How does the group battles/cc work? I loved DAoC to death, but losing b/c of one ae mez sucked ass. Also does there seem to be a good balanced in between having ranged or melee. Some games definitely lean more towards one or the other in group combat.

Most of the CC comes from the tanks and its all mostly short snares, knockbacks, knockdowns, disarms, silences etc. The highest CC comes from Morale abilities that require you to be in combat for a certain length of time to execute.

I still would prefer that they would have left the 4 melee classes in the game that the cut. But the balance isn't terrible, but at the moment it seems that ranged people are more abundant. But as far as abilities go they seem evenly matched mostly.

It seems like the PvE dungeons have gotten very little testing. Only Elder server people have really been able to do the high level ones and unless they purposely were doing focused testing them, which I think only happened one time, they didn't see much action at all. However, every person who has talked about them has been very positive. And we're looking at what? 5 dungeons per side, 7 in total at release? That's pretty great if you like some PvE content. I know I love PvP but breaking it up every few nights with a good ol' dungeon crawl is great fun.

They have been and still are focus testing the dungeons and probably will keep testing them right up until release.

I downloaded about a 10gig file from fileplanet then patched about 9meg and as of now I am good to go for the weekend assuming no more patching. Painless.
