Troub requires a LOT of kiting later. My dirge was slightly better, but once you get to RoK content prepare to get a nice bow and kite everything. But yea, whereas most dps classes (bards are still a 'scout') never seem to run out of CAs to use, I was burning my Dirge's CAs on a single mob and waiting for cooldowns to do them all again on most even mobs. Without severe twinking melee bards seem really weak for leveling. Make sure you get all the good AAs in the bard tree though, like DKTM, that poison proc and fortissimo, they help a ton.

Defilers are the absolute worst to level. I had one mid 30's before my regular group died on me; I always had a blast with it until I had to solo the fucking thing.

I'm playing a Mystic right now, but thinking about doing an Inquisitor/Warden too. Will probably get all to the 50's if I don't absolutely end up gushing over the Mystic.

Warden's have the best looking epic in the game though, IMHO.

Inquisitors solo like champs once they get about 30-40 AA and it doesn't take really a lot nowadays (with some effort, obtainable by level 30).
Best leveller for me was the fury, ports, run speed, good nukes, heals, you can't ask for much more.

EDIT: for bards: check the broker for rare-crafted weapons with damage procs (even a bow) and they become tolerable.

Just so everyone knows, we just signed up for the new recruit-a-friend EQ2 program (triple combat XP), and me and a friend have gone 1-45 in about 3 days, 13 or 14 hours played. Warlock/Guardian.

Just picking up Invocation Strike, Yaulp, and a Big 2hander were a big help. And that can be done around lvl 12.

Shit, my 13 inquisitor has all the CAs, Yaulp, etc..

Pause Combat and Quest EXP. Run through one hub, then the other, with quest exp on. Turn back off to finish up origional hub, use second hub to finish out (Theres a ton of places to level. Also; run around a buncha places. good AA doing that for discovery. Get some invis pots to make it easier)

Also in the stamina line you can pick up Auto critting with a melee weapon. Get a 2 hander with a big damage spread (like say 2-100, vs 60-70) because an eq2 crit is (i think!) max damage + up to 30% more. ie you'll ALWAYS hit for the max number.

THEN you can pick up the str line end power to be immune to interrupt and stifle...and bam, instant solo machine. you can survive damn near anything. Just chain heal yourself while you auto attack things to death if nothing else.

Triple XP? That has to really suck for Achievement Points because you would outlevel everything at such an insane pace, you couldnt possibly cover all the disco / nameds for the first 5 or 6 tiers. You would have to spend a lot of time with XP turned off to cover all of the bases.

Though with a pile of repeatable quests at 80 that give aa each time, and shard daily quests giving aa each time...It's not as bad as it used to be to catch up on aa if you zoom to the top.

On the offchance that I decided to resub, any recommendations on a casting solo class, kiting-centered or no?

Last free trial I had was a couple of expansions ago and tried a troubador. Fun class but the chat in the starting areas was Barrens-quality. Would like to give a casting class a shot, even if it's a healing class.

Plus, PC's in the shop, so this will give me time to research.

Kiting has been all but removed from EQ2. I suggest Wizard or Warlock they rape all. Healer I would go with Fury, slow starting but once they get the big DD they golden.

What Hatorade said. But i'd like to add Coercer and Illusionist, if you are into enchanter classes. Coercer for charm soloing and illu for root sickpet nuke type soloing.

If you go coercer make sure to get Master level charms at each available level. You're in for a world of pain if you try charming stuff with Apprentice level spells.

Thanks for the tip, I was leveling a troub and decided it wasn't for me, so I started a coercer. It's my first time playing an enchanter class, so I probably suck heh. I'm only level 12, but I seem to have the basics down. However, if any of you guys group with me, you've been warned--I'm probably horrible compared to what you guys are used to .

Its pretty simple; Stun/Mez/Power Feed in a group, DPS other times. You won't be charming in a group.

Charm solo is win.

Warden/Fury are great kiters. Fury is a ton faster, Warden gets a LOT more control options, though is much weaker. They also have the melee line, and a lot of flexibility.

If you want a trophy soloist class, Fury/Enchanter is your best bet, with Coercer edging out Illusionist. All the priests are pretty good at it though.

For levelling fast I'd suggest any high dps class; AE classes are easier than single target classes.
