| AoC and WAR werent the anti-WoW/second coming, so they try to alleviate their depression with memories of the time when a MMO-market didnt exist but only MMO-games made by unknown companies i suppose im part of the crowd too since i still play EQ /shrug

+1 Internets | Remember when they introduced item links in chat text? It was buggy as hell; you could crash clients by using malformed html. Of course I was just trying to learn how to use the new system properly, but I think in the process I inadvertently crashed everyone in the serverwide paladin chat. They took the servers down awhile later to patch that. So I started trying to put together other strings that could crash the client. Typing i!i!i!i! alot worked pretty well, but for whatever reason only crashed the client sometimes. Had some fun with that for awhile, including crashing about half of the people in the serverwide paladin chat again. And the EQ devs didn't fix that one for weeks. Never heard about #3#3#3 or whatever though. |

| This thread is fantastic. To contribute: A good friend of mine got his first character banned waaay back for duping manastones. I had no idea what he was doing at the time, or truly how it worked, but it had something to do with the first four letters in a name, the system apparently only checked the first four letters for you to loot a body, but if the character IDs or something didn't match, the real body stayed. So you would make a character: RAFA Give RAFA the Manastone, he dies, log in RAFAA, loot the RAFA body with RAFAA and then RAFA, boom, two manastones. Same with RAFAB, RAFAC etc Easy money, before he got nuked by a GM, but not before laundering over 20 manastones across various mules. |

| Registered User | bard castable items were considered "songs" and as such stacked with the player "spell" casted version of the actual spells. So seeing how mage and druid DS do not stack, you casted mage DS than used the bard (druid) clicky version and than overwrote that with the real druid version leaving the mage version there and than reapply the bard actual song version for 3 dam shields. You could take it even farther but you get the idea. Worked on wep procs also, on tough to slow mobs chanter would tash and than bard would use tash stick and double stick it. Worked with most any right click items or procs when used by bards. I remember our first roy kill, the shaman and chanters just could not slow roy no matter what we tried and we kept wiping. Finally I pulled out my truncheon of Doom and tanked him the whole fight with my trunch while keeping him slowed from procs. When I called "Roy Slowed" in chat everyone was like WTF... | HorrorFK | Not exactly a sploit. That's how AoW pretty much died also. Not to mention, a few years ago they released an extra mage DS buff that lasted about 5 hits but stacked an extra 300 damage. Now there's a few of them you can chain-cast which indirectly makes mage DPS completely rape. Death to any who doubt them!

+4 Internets | I don't know that it was an exploit, but my necro friend and I used to xp in Velk's by going to the top camp where the ice wall is that looks in on the castle. We'd make our lowest level pets and target the nearest mob which was one of the guards on the other side of the wall. Send the pets to attack and they would shortcut to the guards and die immediately. Once the pet dies you get summoned into the area and are set for some easy and fun xp It sure as hell beat the rat race that was going on in Velks. |

| There once was this guy who pushed a player vendor that was selling items in the bazaar, all the way into the bazaar arena (before revamp). I think the crazy fellow used some sort of KB to very slowly push the vendor, and then he killed him in the arena. If I remember correctly, the vendor stayed online -afk - and his corpse poofed. The best stories and rumors I read in EQ were about Plane of Mischief and kunark epic weapons. When people were trying to figure out the quests, what had to be done, using the obscur quest text, the [braquets] and the crazy lore. Most immersive mmo quest system ever, even when it was only about copying and pasting allkahazam lines ![]() |

There was also a bard on BB called Ganodor (one of the funniest guys I met in my EQ time). He changed his surname to that particular string of text and it would crash people around him. Can't remember exactly how that worked, I think it was if people targetted him..and cause he used the ST gnome mask he always got targetted. | |

| Pushing people into the arena wasn't hard in the bazaar; I think there were several ways but the easiest was just to simply buff the person with spirit of the eagle and then push their character while they were levitated. They had that buff inside that zone that made it so you weighed nothing (But zone out and you couldn't move a muscle if you had too much plat or items) and it was very easy. The initiated a change a bit later that you couldn't buff people while in vendor form or something like that. As for the text that you could send someone to LD them, rumor was back in the day a rival guild sent all of another guild's clerics this text in tells and it DC'd them all on a specific boss so that they could then go in and swipe it. They fixed the text bug later though. One of the biggest rumors I remember was that Queen Cristanos Thex was in Neriak Third Gate, and there was a secret room to find her. I never did, and even got so desperate for this bit of lore that I ran my wood elf druid into neriak third gate to track. Never found her. I hear she now does exist in the game but as a killable npc? |
