I still remember the day I forced my parents into buying my EQ. We were visiting a town we used to live in, and dropped in on the brand new mall, and picked it up at the "Electronics Boutique"... man Gamestop sucks.. I wish Babbages and EB still existed. Anyways since we were on vacation I couldn't play the game right away, so I became absorbed into the Prima guide and everything that came with the box.... then my parents didn't have to see me for the next few years.

| LOL you guys shouldn't be so harsh on Treesong. He was living the dream (if 'living the dream' is defined by not getting pussy for a decade while enjoying the greatest of all time MMORPG experience [Not knocking him, I should know]). Nothing will duplicate the experience we shared when EQ was fresh and new. Some of us just hung on longer than others. Personally, I played from early release in '99 on Bristlebane, split to Saryrn, and played intermittently from 2001 - 2005. I know in my heart of hearts that no MMORPG will ever replace the greatness and epicness of original Everquest. I traded so many good years of my youth to that game. It's sad, but in the same vein I think back on those memories and know I was part of something truly special, something that will never be replicated by anyone to come. I mean, how do you replace that feeling of first zoning into Crushbone as a level 6 Wood Elf piece of shit and getting trained into oblivion? Camping Lower Guk for the FBSS? Or slaying Vox for the first time (winning the roll then selling her precious loot in NFP for obscene amounts of plat)? I still remember the epic posts by Furor and company while they marched their way through NTOV, slaying uber, mythical dragons and collecting the fattest lewts known to man. Those memories will never be matched. Nothing that has come out since has even been close and I wager nothing ever will. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that most of us will remember forever.

+1 Internets | You guys wanna hear some crazy shit? Back in the day, my friend Bazazu, Lytic and myself started a guild named Reviction on Morell Thule. We were in some dungeon one day raiding when this Iksar monk walks up with THE best gear in the game at the time trying to roleplay with us. So we roleplay back and he comes with us on a few more raids. This guy had super-powers. I'm not talking like best-in-gear superpowers, I'm talking UNKILLABLE. We took him to Plane of Sky, we took him to Hate, we took him to Dreadlands and this mother tanked EVERYTHING. In the end, we went and did Ragefire, some rival guild saw and and reported him and then he told us he had to go. I'll never know who the hell this guy was, maybe a bored GM or Smed, but it was the craziest shit! |

We are just chatting it up and doing some killing and she is like "want to go kill some Hill Giants in Rathe?" At the time we were all about lvl 24ish. I told her there was no way in heck we could take them down that we would just die. She said to trust her, so I was like what the heck its only death and we were off. So we set up camp by the hill giants in lake rathe and she goes off to pull. I am a Mage, Vithe is a Paladin and she is a Druid. She gets back to camp with a HG following not far hehind her. As soon as she gets into camp I see a huge red con Magician Water pet pop out of nowhere and start attacking this hill giant. I am completely floored, I have no clue where this huge red con pet came from to fight for our party. Next thing I know I see the druid casting and the elemental emotes something about "frothing at the mouth." The druid was buffing this elemental, it was her pet! She was healing the pet as it fought and after a minute the HG fell over and we had won. We were all pretty low on mana, as I had said low mana in group and everyone else said basically the same. This druid that somehow reclaims the mage pet, insta-casts another pet, reclaims it for mana, and repeats a few times and says "Full mana, pulling!" This went on for awhile until she asked to see Vithe's weapon. I don't remember what he was using, but she is like "I know where you can get better, lets go." At this point we were not going to argue with anything she suggested and went along. She brought us to the rivervale area and had him do a quest that had a few steps to complete to get an amazing sword. She knew exactly what to say, who to talk to and where to go. After he got the sword which basically was on par with high end drops and useable in the 20's (I forget the name sorry) I looked it up on the internet and could not find any infos on it at all. I questioned her how she knew about this quest when there was no information on it available anywhere. She informed us that she could not say who she was. After some prodding she admitted she was a "room mate" of one of the 3 leaders who made everquest. After more pushing she said there were over 1,000 quests in game that people ghad not figured out and that this was just one of them. She said some of them were doable at low levels and gave amazing items. As an example she said she knew of a quest that gave a +10 regen ring that was not lore. That would be +20 regen and kick the heck out of a fungi tunic which was pretty much the best tradeable item of the era. Next she said as a mage that I needed to have my focus items. We went to solusek and perma and she got all the drops fast as heck with her "pet" than we went back to the temple of solusek ro and she just happened to "have" all the gems I needed for the quest in her bags. Like I believed that haha. Now this was only test server and we only saw her a fe more times, but that was some fun and eye opening hunting. She said the pet item was a drop from beta but was removed from the game as imbalanced (ya think). It gave any class an insta summoned lvl 49 water pet, her was unlimited charges. But some of the info we got from her that was in-game was very useful ![]()
