Pff yeah I got all that imba MC loot for free. Working though BWL to Naxx didn't count for anything.

Important question! I know they are making potions and procs work in feral forms. Are the new engineering items going to work in forms as well? I was going to drop engineering on my druid since I really don't use anything from the profession. However, if I can belch rockets out of my bear's mouth, I'll have no choice but to keep it.

What many priests (myself included) did was the shadow/disc/holy hybrid that took advantage of the spirit -> dmg conversions. Something close to this: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Depending on gear this could give you a 100~200 +dmg boost. Between that and meditation + spirit tap giving you roughly 80% mana regen even when casting.

However, it falls apart because there are just too many filler talents you have to take that don't boost damage output and no crit damage modifiers hurts as well. Plus in a raid environment, you're not getting the killshot every 15 seconds you need to maintain a build like it. I like it more in a non-raid environment because shadow just took too long to ramp up to appreciable damage (though the changes to shadow weaving may help). A spell that takes 24 seconds to run it's full course is useless on mobs most people can kill in 2~5 seconds.

So while it's relatively fun while leveling where everything dies in 2~3 hits, it doesn't see much use anymore because you have to be 60 before you can even really start to take advantage of it and by that point you've fallen asleep on your wand/mindflay macro that you wake up 2 days later and you're level 70 and you don't know how you got there and why the fuck is there a guy sleeping on my couch oh fuck oh god.
I'll think I'll respec tonight and give this a try. I like the versatility.

So I was on PTR and...

No gear on and no buffs, so that's my base mana pool. Am I missed something or should I be getting 332 more mana back than that?

I'd imagine one of your talents raised your mana above base.

What was your mana at when it was cast? It might just not show 'overheal' or something. But otherwise yeah, it should be returning about 1300 mana.

Just did it again to double check, still got 974 mana back even though I was at a 4000 mana deficit (cast consecration and spammed my SoCom button to get myself low). Something is fucked, it's giving back closer to 25% mana than 33%.

Base mana - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

base mana is w/o int (i assume you have some gear on with int), it says base mana is 2951 for 70 pallys and 4394 for 80 pallys. So that number is right.

thats pretty crazy though, you get back 1k mana every time you judge? nice. i assume all pallies get that, i think im gonna keep my pally prot for tanking but man ret seems nice too.

Guess my understanding of base mana was off, woops. Assumed it was whatever you had without gear, talents, and buffs. Not including int in there is pretty shitty.

I'm not good at the napkin math, but isn't that getting pretty close to the point of not being able to maintain a Ret DPS cycle?

Ah, you're only level 70 then? That makes more sense.

If you don't include consecration in the dps cycle it's close to maintainable once you factor in regen from JoW proc's, BoW and whatnot.

In fact there was a pretty big thread awhile back on the paladin about asking for a dps alternative to consecrate. It's 100~170 dps for a -massive- mana commitment. Great when you can use it but on any long distance fights increadibly iffy. A glyph similar to the Avengers Shield glyph for protadin's was the 'best' idea I saw. Would reduce the mana cost of consecrate significantly but make it so that it could only hit one target at a time or something.

Theres nothing to report, just because he is naked and untalented does not mean that his base mana. Even naked, no talents, thats not your base mana. You must subtract 15 mana for every int you have (yes you indeed have some base int even naked) and that will be your base mana.

Paladins base mana is 2953 according to wiki ( dont have one to prove it myself) but when you divide 2953 by 33% you get...wait for it...wait for it...974.49, rounded 974 which is eactly how much mana it returned.
