+3 Internets | The fact that they aren't outright lying to us by promising anything other than fun combat is the best sign that this game won't be shit. That's not to say it's great news that we have another game that doesn't seem to amount to much outside of combat, dungeons and instances but anything decent coming out is a welcome and needed change for this fucking awful industry.

| No, it just means that the game's not trying to be all things to all people, and they've learned that constantly lying to one's player base isn't a good way to make money. The game could still be shit, or it could be great... we won't know until we try it.

| SDCC 09 Report! Looks like the animations are just placeholders. I really hope they don't limit power selections to just a few buttons on the PS3 controller. Quote:

| Rumor has it that the reason why there is no release date, and that news on this has slowed down, is that SOE is considering cancelling the game. This is in light of Champions not doing well; supposedly SOE thinks the genre might be oversaturated. I wouldn't be surprised. Think about it - the last post in this thread was six months ago, and since then, SOE has released almost nothing new on it. If SOE isn't cancelling the game, they sure are doing a poor job in keeping interest high. There is an adage in business that if you don't give your customers enough info on what's going on, they'll fill in the blanks themselves. The total lack of communication as to how the game is progressing, lack of release date, and seemingly lackadaisacal answers as to when the game will launch is causing rumors to fly.

| It's SOE. They fucking suck. I just don't see them being a player in the mainstream MMO market ever again. They should just outsource EQ3 to someone with an ounce of passion left and focus on Free Realms and similar projects.

+16 Internets | They've been releasing character profiles of known heroes, Green Lantern, Power Girl etc slowly but surely. It's a bit late in the game to be cancelling, and DC has poured a pile of cash into this by now so it's pretty likely they and their parent company want to see something pushed out the door to try and at least recoup some of what they've put in. I've no real trust in SoE and that it's also a PS3 game doesn't really help. It's a shame Sony every got their hooks into this game. |

| There is a game there though. I saw it at NYCC in Feb'09. I even got a chance to play it.

| This game better be MMO Jesus for the amount of time and delays on it. Seriously, unless SOE devs have been using DC's money to snort cocaine off of hookers from Tijuana's behind, this game better be complete (as in not lacking content, balanced gameplay, and not alot of bugs). It feels like this game has been in development for five years. Fragland.net V4 :: Still a lot of work to be done on DC Universe Online DC Universe Online's senior producer told Official PlayStation Magazine that while they're still on track for releasing the game by the end of this year, a lot of work still needs to be done. "We still have a lot of work ahead of us," "The good feeling is that we can look behind us and see the mountain of work we've done, and the stuff we have ahead of us is definitely smaller. "We're really happy with the progress. But as far as dates go, we want to focus on one milestone at a time." The PS3 MMO was first unveiled in 2008 and was supposed to be in stores beginning this year. Now release is scheduled for end of 2010. "A lot of work ahead of us" sounds like we should start thinking about seeing it get delayed again.

"We still have a lot of work ahead of us," Its been a while since I've read these boards. I've noticed a few minor things I thought I would comment on. 1) we're the developer and the publisher. That means we fund it ( not DC). We licensed the DC IP and work very closely with them. 2) these games take a while to make ( as an example WoW took over 5 years, EQ2 close to that same time). 3) It's a massively multiplayer action game running on the same server for both the PC and the PS3 with full physics.. it was hard. But we pulled it off. The team has done an excellent job. It is truly unlike any other mmo out there including Champions and CoH. You can pick up a bus and use it as a weapon. You can freeze another player and turn them into an ice cube and pick them up and throw them at someone else who's flying, and knock them out of the sky. 4) we will be making announcements about the beta soon. Yes the game is coming out this year for both the PC and the ps3. 5) lyrical you are automatically invited to the beta, if for no other reason than allowing me the pleasure of reading whatever you write. 6) there has never been a single solitary moment of time where canceling the game was ever discussed. Simply put - it's a great game that's taking time. 7) we have released a very steady stream of information about the game including having people play it at a lot of events and allowing them to videotape it.
