I love the classes in Daoc. Always thought if you couldn't find a class to enjoy in the game then it just didn't exist.
This. DAOC had a great selection of classes, some of which were really creative and fun to play. Also some that had spells and abilities we still haven't seen in an MMO since.

Many of us who played years ago asked for this after TOA and New Frontiers was released and we were flat out told "NO" by mythic. This is too little too late, and tbh a little bit insulting that they suddenly think it's a great idea that can lure players back. With the tank controls this game is pretty much unplayable to me these days, anyway.

I am looking forward to WAR, but just don't have time for this game anymore in my schedule.

I hope Warhammer can recapture the RvR feeling of daoc. I'd drop any game I'm playing for that.
This sums up my hopes as well. Better controls + RvR/siege of DAoC and I'm all over it.

I'm going to be the only thane just so I can relive the glory of trying to cast the aoe hammer spell only to get 1-shooted by some scout before the 4 second cast time is over.

Why? They're FPS standard controls just like WoW. Binding abilities to non numeric keys is a little convoluted, but still not that hard.

ToA was a good idea, just horribly designed. Before ToA, DAoC was pretty much just Guild Wars. The top gear was attainable by everyone, you couldn't get an edge over the competition gearwise, the only way to get relatively stronger was to succeed in PvP, and then the abilities you got were only good for more PvP.

It's mostly the camera. Granted that may have changed in the years since I've played, but I recall it being bad compared to WoW & the newer generation.

See, I felt exactly the opposite. I thought ToA had some pretty damn cool ideas and encounters, but it was completely the wrong direction for the game. People wanted more RvR, not PVE.

Friars are the best class in any MMO, ever.

This does sound neat. I might dig up my old DAoC box and CD. They offer the expansions for purchase online, right? I always wanted to try out that Necromancer class.

Oh, and how do friars get in higher levels? I never got too high but I wondered if their healing kept up, or if it was better just go to with avoidance crap.

You totally missed the point of this game. The game was about RvR not PVE. PVE was just a barrier to entry to the RVR/PVP. People didn't want competition for gear in this game. You farmed money for 99%-100% quality player made gear and then added custom stats to that gear(which what prolly the best idea ever implemented to the game beside realm abilities). It gave people a ton of flexibility on how to gear their character. Yeah, it was a PIA to farm the money but in the end it was pretty rewarding to have gear specced out how you wanted it so you could compete in RvR.

PvE wasn't what 90% of the player population wanted. They wanted more RvR shit and Mythic completely ignored their playerbase and they payed dearly for it.

Also Armor Dye ftw....

A large vocal number of people on the boards didn't want to get the ToA gear. There were plenty of people who didn't hate ToA.

I agree with this. If DAoC had any resemblance of balance of caster vs mellee I would still be playing.

Add caster push-back and make it so anything higher than you doesn't resist 90% of all your spells and take only 4 damage the other 10%. Its retarded casters had to staff things in the raid content to do any damage.
