+1 Internets | The idea of a superior resources pvp zone sounds good, but I almost guarantee that the most dominant pvp'ers will just own it, build their keep 3x as fast and everyone else will go to the steady but slow places. The only way to make people pvp for resources is give them no choice. But that would probably drive guilds to change servers if they could not continue making progress due to the nature of the gathering. Or they would quit. |

+5 Internets | Depends on your server environment, I suppose. The most aggressive PvP servers have plenty of guilds that will jump at any chance to PvP for a minor advantage, even if they could get equivalent returns just playing it safe. Look at Keshatta on EU-Fury or US-Deathwhisper for example, it's a bloodbath, even though most people would level faster just ignoring the PvP and grinding in some suboptimal spot. |

+4 Internets | Kheshatta is hilarious. I don't have many guildies in it yet so I basically roll around with a very small ganksquad usually taking on double (sometimes triple if the opposition is really horrible which is usually the case) our numbers. It's actually fun pvp for the sake of pvp currently but we do need something done soon. The clipping issue does really suck balls. I don't know why Kheshatta is so much worse than anywhere else in the game, but I don't think it's caused by # of players on screen. There's certain lines that people will always disappear behind, high load or low.

+8 Internets | Some good suggestions in this thread. Agreed that it would be disappointing if AOC copies the the WoW BG route: repetitive, instanced PVP for points for gear. I don't think it fits into the game world at all. If you ask "Conan, what is best in life?", his answer would not include capturing the red flag. In any case, they should capitalize on making the PVP aspect distinct from WoW (mainly more non-instanced world PVP stuff). Thus, there would be 2 clear choices in fantasy MMO: - WoW: PVE game, with PVP sideshow - AOC: PVP game, with PVE sideshow Choose one. =) Last edited by Froofy-D : 06-05-2008 at 12:37 PM. |

+5 Internets | Which facets are these? If you had said "it's clearly a leveling game, not a PvP game" I would sorta agree with you, since leveling is the only part of the game that can be considered mostly complete. As far as PvE vs PvP goes, we don't really know shit yet. Both aspects just have the bare necessities added. |

| It is almost identical to the situation DAoC was in at release. PvE is mostly but not entirely complete and has exploits and balance issues galore. PvP is fun but largely pointless and has even worse balance issues. It also really isn't even close to complete content wise. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out actually, although I'll likely drop sub and check it out again in a few months. |

+8 Internets | Tuco's guild and our's are, unfortunately, on friendly terms. We get together and "Take over" an "instance" of a world zone every night. Doing this means that: A.) Install all of our EXP groups in that zone at the various camps by killing any competition. B.) Our level 80's patrol the zone and curb stomp (literally one of my fatalities) anyone that comes in the zone without being in either guild. C.) Corpse camp the living shit out of anyone dumb enough to try to kill one of our exp groups out (this happanes usually when the patroller's go to the friendly instance about 2 minutes from Kheshetta. D.) Encourage other guilds to leave ours alone by not only corpse camping them at the GY, but by chasing them into other zones and repeating the process there. Anyways, it's good fun. Tuco are you 80 yet? Slack ass...

| I've heard from a guildy that the Borderlands are currently empty. No mobs, no resources, nothing. If this is true, then this definitely needs to be addressed in the coming weeks. I rolled on a PvE server (due to the guild I was in voting on the server) and have been looking forward to the Borderlands as the only place where I can PvP besides the mini-games (not interested at all in these..been there and done that with the BGs.) I think Tuco is dead on having the best resources spawn there. I would also like Boss mobs that drop better than average loot as well. The more carrots to step foot in the Borderlands, the better. So far, Funcom have been really good with cranking out the fixes...let's hope they are just as good rolling out the missing content. |
