| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | I've been playing EQ2 now for about 6 weeks and I'm having a blast. Got a fury up to 35 then tried an assassin and it's just too much fun. In a great casual raiding guild with REALLY friendly and helpful people without being a prissy "family guild", a rare and refreshing experience. The assassin really is just a great class where every fight can be different. Also loving the tradeskill system. All the *2 levels (12, 22, 32) just have these awesome set armors that really are some of the best pieces of gear in the game. If I hadn't quit playing it when it came out to play WoW, I really think I would have stuck with it until present day, and I plan to keep playing for a long time to come. |

| Rerolled my bard to a drakkan. It's definately far easier to level. My only gripe is I forgot about those hour long debuffs you get and all the mob stuns. If I didn't have a fungi tunic + regen song I'd never be able to regen health without multi boxing or having someone cure me every five seconds. I'm having fun. Been bouncing around zones every couple of levels to try them out. Had a bunch of good items and $$ on a mule character and everything I needed to upgrade was super cheap. Can deck out a char for 100-200k easy or really rock out a new char for 300-400k on bertox. I've spent about 70k and sold about 100k plat worth of stuff. Plus buying low and selling high still works wonders it seems since there isn't some sort of dedicated value on old world items anymore (which is all I really know) so I am making decent money off reselling old world stuff at a mark up. Do wish there were some people to play with but oh well. Used to soloing in EQ anyway =] |

| EQ1 is fucking tough for returning players. Almost impossible to play with 320 AAs and 7k hp when the game is ballanced for 2k AAs and 25k hp. Back at lvl 40 I had around 800 hp and mobs were hitting for 40-60 in the easy areas of Guk. Now at lvl 76 I have 8.5k buffed and mobs hit for 1.2k while everything else is pretty much the same. Absolutely zero margin for error.

Those guk mobs may hit hard but they drop 350 hp/mp items you willl have allot more then 8.5k buffed hp after you are done with gearing in guk.

how can you honestly say the game is balanced around 25k hp and 2000aas? it is only if your game is called "Hghest-end". im a warrior with 700AAs with Anguish equip (22.5k hp full buffed). With this stats i have hard time tanking Crystallos stuff but thats the damn highest end zone of game, where trash hit for 3k+ and nameds for 7k and drop 520hp stuff off non-raid mobs the rest of game is easy for me Nowdays, stuff comparable to Anguish (less hp/ac but more stats) drops from random trash all over the game, including Bastion of Thunder where exp is amazing up to lv78. Or go to Dragonscale Hills and stay couple days at farm. 3 nameds mob with 300hp items, plus the mentioned random stuff. you can deck any n00b to Anguish level easely nowdays you dont need 2000aas to be effective. hell, 30 more AAs and i have completely done all my defensive AAs and i have bunch of offensive ones. 500/600 is more than enought to get the important stuff out of the way, the rest is just increasing your general effectivness get back to EQ is a joke now

You're trying to play the game as a level 76 geared like a level 50. That doesn't work. Go slum it for a little while to get some upgrades. P.S., Neric, are you playing a Necromancer? You shouldn't be getting hit anyway, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Are you trying to solo guk as an undergeared necro?

| First of all, I am not talking about soloing in Guk. Second, as lvl 76 you usually get a group with other leftovers who are either undergeared or in the worst case totally clueless about the zone. So there is wipe written all over it. Now I may survive this better than other classes, but I cannot dodge the CR timesink. So overall it is possible to spend a full evening camping bedroom (icebone alert), spiders or even moving down to the better areas which are usually camped or try live side with frog shaman that see invis without getting anything accomplished at all. There may be easier areas and I am sure amongst the 82475 new zones there certainly are some of them, but in any case it is pretty rough for the returning player. The reason is that level alone doesn't matter anymore. It is all about former "secondary archievements" like AAs and equipment these days. I am not even complaining about it. It just shows me that I won't be able to catch up again unless I want to spend half a year to grind exp in deserted zones (spiders in Icefall for example) and gear up somehow. If I am honest with myself, I have to admit that I enjoyed catching up in WoW more than EQ and that's why I will stick to WoW once EQ freetime runs out.

Gear is pretty easy to obtain now with the introduction of the Defiant line of items. Really, really helps, and the stats are fucking incredible as well. SOE still needs to do something about the lack of population across the board; another round of server merges is long overdue.

| So about 8 hours in and I'm almost 44 all solo. The defiant gear is really kickass and after learning how to aug those crafted rings my HP is pretty damn high for the level. I do wish I saw more people but the only zone I've really been through with people was blightfire moors which took me from 25-35 in like an hour. Stonehive is kinda meh with all the caster mobs and I couldn't find dulak ;O. I'm in skyshrine now but can't decide where I want to go after. My bard is super sexy though now. When can you pass the 255 stat cap? I've been sitting at 255 in almost everything for a few levels now and once I grow into this tier of defiant I'll definitely hit it. If anyone wants to start fresh on bertox I'd be happy to help them out if they are going to play for a bit and it'd be quite easy to catch up to me. Would be fun to get a duo or something going =] |
