| How did the Katta and Seru people end up on Luclin? When the Combine erected the Great Spires and left Norrath, Katta was their rightful leader, but a powerful faction of people opposing some of Katta's views was led by Seru. During a meeting for peace gathering all the races of the Combine Empire, Seru poisoned Katta through trickery (he had previously poisoned his glove and then shook Katta's hand). Katta was dying, so he was put into a stasis until he could be eventually cured. In his absence, Seru attempted to take over but was ultimately banished with the help of the Combine who had decided to stay neutral at first and had founded Shadow Haven. Seru and his followers went their way to build Sanctus Seru, while Katta's devout followers founded Katta Castellum, where his daughter rules. Note that despite their immense knowledge in translocation arcanes, the Combine did not anticipate that they would be drawn to the Nexus upon translocation, due to the huge ammount of Luclinite in the Nexus. That's why they "crashed" into Luclin rather than land in a safer spot. You can see the "crater" above the Nexus' central point. ______________________________________ Who/How/When/Why Mayong Mistmoore? Mayong Mistmoore was indeed a Dark Elf, but he was also the very first vampire. We can only suppose it was a genetic anomaly, and it spread as Mayong did more victims. Mayong's cunning, charm and powers allowed him to grow extremely wealthy and thus Castle Mistmoore was erected. Inside the castle, Mayong performed many twisted rituals and experiments, particularly on animating stone (gargoyles), creating new vampire breeds and other hybrids (such as the Drachnids). As was said before, Mayong then used his Drachnids as spies to infiltrate the Dreadlands and attempt to learn the secrets of Lycanthropy from Venril Sathir, who had gathered a huge army of wolf-men, the Drolvargs. Apparently the Drachnids were successful as Mayong managed to create several breeds of werewolves who were left to live in the Mistmoore Catacombs and fight for supremacy. Someone asked earlier whether the vampires on Luclin originated from Mayong Mistmoore. The answer is yes, as the current leader of the Coterie of Eternal Night on Luclin (Zaldanov Zevfeer) was formerly a Combine alchemist on Norrath who fell victim to Mayong. He kept his vampirism undetected until the Combine translocated to Luclin, and then he spread it around until a cult was developped. To this day, vampirism is still spreading on Luclin, and it has even begun to infiltrate Katta Castellum (and there are solid rumors that Katta himself has been turned into a vampire, but remains in control of his actions. In fact, his vampirism may be what saved him from death by Seru's poison). At some point in time, Mayong had an affair with Tserrina and though she fell in love deeply, Mayong's thirst for power was stronger. Eventually Tserinna was abandonned and left to haunt the Tower of Frozen Shadows as Mayong had discovered what would change his entire existence : Zebuxoruk. Indeed, Mayong was informed that a mortal had been condemned by the Pantheon of Power to the ultimate form of emprisonment for very nearly deciphering the Divine Language, which would allow any mortal to be granted nearly omnipotent powers. As the mortal armies unleashed assaults upon the Planes, Mayong waited patiently for the prison of Zebuxoruk to be breached (upon Quarm's defeat) and was able to learn the secret of the Cipher of the Divine Language along the way. Mayong was granted the knowledge of the Gods by deciphering their Divine Language, and he focused his immense powers on creating his own dimensional realm, the Demi-Plane of Blood (other mortals had been known to create their own Demi-Planes before in history). As is known, the interest mortals took in Mayong is what ultimately led him to become a true deity, and he has been amassing more and more power ever since, corrupting lesser deities and manipulating the greater ones through his unmatched cunning. ______________________________________ History of Norrath post-Planes of Power (Gates of Discord / Omens of War) While my personal opinion is that EQ's developpers did "jump the shark" a bit too soon by defeating the greater part of the Pantheon (though officially the timeline was reversed by Druzzil Ro), the story beyond is still quite interesting, and involves deep roots of "vanilla" EQ, such as the Priests of Discord. When the Queen of Thorns, the city-ship of the Wayfarers' Brotherhood, found the lost continent of Taelosia, they realized two things : the continent was inhabited by a previously unknown race (Taelosians), and two, said race was on the brink of extinction because a major invasion was taking place on Taelosia. Further investigations led to the revelation of the Legion of Mata'Muram and their immense army of multi-species Muramites. As the spies (players) sent by the Brotherhood delved deeper into the lost continent, they found out a great religious schism had split the Taelosians in two factions : the Nihil and the Trusik. The Nihil were peaceful and as such were easily enslaved by the Muramites, but the Trusik were dangerous zealots who worshipped a mysterious deity only known as Trushar the Ocean-God of Destruction. The Trusik were manipulated by the cunning overlords of the Mata'Muram invasion force and joined with the invaders to wipe out the unbelieving Nihils and spread the glory of Trushar to all Norrath. Eventually, the adventurers banded together to defeat the supreme overlord of the invasion force, and Taelosia was freed, the remaning Muramites soon extinguished. But in the mean time, the Priests of Discord scattered throughout Norrath felt a powerful disturbance as the eldest and most powerful amidst their ranks finally was able to create a breach between dimensions, greater than ever before. As was known previously, the "universe" was created by The Nameless, a mysterious and omnipotent entity that separated the universe in two realms, the Realm of Balance, and the Realm of Discord. The Priest of Discord had found the way to the entirely unknown Realm of Discord, and inquiring adventurers soon realized this dimension was the origin of the Legion of Mata'Muram, on planet Kuuat. Eventually, the mortal armies hacked and slashed their way to Overlord Mata'Muram himself, and as he was slain, the Legion of Mata'Muram was no more and their hopes for invasion extinguished, leaving the remaining, peaceful inhabitants of Kuuat to rebuild amidst the smoking ruins.

Tsaph Katta - THE Katta - was not in Luclin. He was still in his poisoned stasis. The only Katta in Katta Castellum is Lcea Katta. I don't recall her relationship to Tsaph, but Tsaph is the only one who is referred to by the single word utterance of Katta. His stasis chamber is in Katta Castrum (IE Atlantis) in the Buried Sea expansion, where he still sleeps. ![]() | |

+20 Internets | What about current lore? Why is there a robot dragon as my loading screen? And jesus Norrath is big if all this shit is really hiding underground and in tunnels and there are these undiscovered islands and shit |

| EQ1 Apologist | I dunno about lost islands or anything, but the dragon is Big Bynn I, a clockwork dragon that some random gnome made to fight against Meldrath. You never see him again after you help him test it, and it doesn't make a lot of sense, but you need to defeat it in order to progress onto Meldrath's Mansion raids. ![]() |

+20 Internets | So the loading screen dragon is just some random gnome built thing, weak. I meant that Kunark wasn't known about and Velious and then GoD. Seems like anytime they want an expansion at this point they can just have someone set out on a boat and bump into some new land. I mean they have the technology to port to the moon or build robotic dragons, but not to snap pictures of Norrath from Luclin I guess. |

| EQ1 Apologist | Actually, there's a globe of Norrath in Skyfire somewhere that includes a number of continents that we've never seen. http://www.graffe.com/graffe1.0/scre...shan_globe.jpg |
