Third person cam works fine for me (mouse wheel zoom out from first person view, not the other shitty third person cam modes available.) Functions the same as right mouse view of WoW, just gets annoying in some areas with clipping. I hate playing in first person view now, especially in up close fights, can't see anything going on and hard for targeting.

I'm pretty sure the devs have said that that will never happen. But a new Progression server is supposedly planned at some point. The game has changed even more than last time though, and I hope they revert some things for it. Like, in that interview someone linked a few pages back, a dev said that it now takes 10 kills per level from 1-30, and 20 kills per level from 30-50. Which is fine for the new EQ I suppose, but it would just kill progression-- people would be 50 by the end of day 1.

After Butcherblock with you, young man, and do the quests by the docks and by the zone to GFay, and then move into the middle of the Irontoes and the dudes by the bridge. Proceed to enjoy EQ2 once more. And do your best to group into Stormhold and Fallen Gate for some great AA and the odd trinket of value.

It goes back to the old expansions after TD. Continue in BB, which is where TD leads you towards or take the boat to TS or Nek. I hated Nek and would avoid that whenever possible. I prefer BB of the other 2. I do the easy TS quests for easy AA/Xp when able but spend most of my time in BB if solo. Get a good dungeon group going and it's possible to hit 10 levels in a nite. WC if you still under 20, probably outleveled if you finished TD tho. And your pick of SH or FG and sometimes LFGs for CBK. I've picked up 3 levels in CBK in about an hour with a competent group.

As for quest rewards, forget about it. After TD, nothings gonna replace your gear til your 30s. Even the good drops in the dungeons are worse then TD rewards. Only general equips upgrade would be a 32 mastercrafted set depending on your class.

I started playing my 65 Pally again on Solusek Ro(whatever the merged name is)... I like it a lot. For some reason I enjoy the sit in BOT & pull grind. Most of the time I'm just chatting about how I was in a guild and we would come here to kill the Storm Lord and all the old raids. I am a bit WoW-spoiled with the need for maps and ! quests, but all in all I like EQ. I'll play until the free period ends. Hoping to reach 70 by then?

I logged my wiz in last night and went for a run around PoGrowth and was thinking the place was looking empty. Then it hit me like a brick that the zone isn't instanced and the mobs could be down for up to a week. As a Euro on a US server my guild was usually lucky with targets following patch day but I don't know if I could go back to empty raid zones and lack of viable targets anymore.

So I hear from my bro that folks in EQ2 are claiming the speed of the kill = more likely chance at high quality chest drops. For example, kill X named in 2 minutes = treasured, kill in 1 minutes = exquisite. That kind of thing. I don't know the specifics and I can't find any info. Is that fact or fiction? I never heard about it when I played way back.

Absolute bullshit. That shit doesn't even make sense. It would just encourage someone at the maximum threshhold to plow through named.

I've killed mobs in <30 seconds and received a treasured...then took over two minutes on the same mob the next day and received an exquisite. So yea...doesn't even make sense :P

I use to tell my raids to kill shit faster for better loot all the time. We would even stopwatch/count down in raid chat to see how much harder we could get the raid to perform. Is it true, fuck no. Did we clear instances/raid mobs faster - hell yes. We just happened to get "better" loot when stuff died faster so it worked to my favor.

Playing eq1 now that i'm back from Uni...
Holy shit the exp is insane. Got a 30/36 2hander, spamming ds pots and heal pots and with a 36% haste cloak, my bst got to level 40 in about 6 hours /played by just staying in hot zones. Nice low level augs too

Hit 80 Alchemy / 80 Conjuror and got my epic (group) in EQ2. I guess now I can say I have "Beaten" both EQ1 and EQ2. Really really fun game and would love to spend more time on it but with the mass amounts of great games scheduled for release I don't think I could ever strap myself down to a single permanent game where I raid constantly like before College.

Was a blast playing!

EDIT: Pics were taken on my laptop where I play with settings pretty far down, nearly anything "Cool looking" is turned off.

Dawn of Marr

Few weeks ago I took SoE up on their free EQ until July 25th offer and have been having a blast. I recently joined a progression guild on The Combine called Dawn of Marr. We're doing the old world + first two expansions (kunark, and velious). Last night we had our first failed attempt at bringing down CT. We only took one shot as it was a week night and we didnt form up to start clearing out Fear until after midnight. Frequently there's about 30 people online all under level 60 or course. The only down side to playing EQ again though is the revamped gear. As cool the idea that I can buy gear that is equal to PoT visable is, it detracts from the game play.

As a response to my negative outlook on the revamped gear I've been farming my own old school gear, actually broke into the 4c camp in CT with a group to knock out the adept (fleshgrinder named, fleshgrinder = mini Scepter of Destrution). Farming rep and armor in kael. Its a nice change from WoW because gear aquisition is not always easy. Pull a caster who is stun immune and will/try to gate at low hp then promptly start summoning your group 1 by 1 to their deaths...Good times. Also porting into Walking Lands to find Wuoshi up and killing you before you finish loading in is also kinda humoring, seriously though.

If you're considering coming back then consider The Combine server is a good place. There's roughly three progressive guilds on the server, what that means is that there are 3 guilds with members who all agree to only do certain content. Like I lead a guild back in '07 and we did vox/naggy in only old world gear. Dawn of Marr, The Forgotten Travelers, and Lords of the Combine. Each have different rule sets but all have the same goal in mind, to reexperience the old content. I can't speak for the other two, but in Dawn of Marr we recently recruited nearly 10 lowbies (all around level 10) and most of them have hit 20 we still have a few that are low level enough that if you start a new toon you can hop into some groups on.

Even if you're not interested in a progressive guild but want to be on the progression server I can say that I've seen a lot of low to mid level group activity going on, mostly in the hot zones, but i've seen over 20 level 45-50s in velks killing spiders in the last week when while i was camping lower spiders.

Anyway, would love to see more of you in Norrath again.
