More like mostly empty as people have taken things as they left. There are still people that sign on from time to time. Hell I might play a little to see some RoK stuff.

Braen who all is still playing? I know you said you've only log'd on a few times, but is there still people getting on daily in MW?

Last I looked last week there we about 7 or so people that logged in in the last week.

Like I said, this isn't to revive Mistwalkers and give raiding in EQ2 a go again. This is to give some FoH board members a place to talk and group up and have a bit of an advantage over starting a new guild.

Never said any thing about raiding, but thanks for the update.

Honest question for those of you playing eq2. is it even worth picking up now?

I am burned out after 3 and a half years of wow, tried vanguard and loved the game and combat but the bugs just made it more frustrating to play then not. Gave AoC a spin and tbo the combat system bores me, and i just can't seem to want to log in even when i have free time. The only other option realistic for me right now would be eq2 since EQ has changed so much since i left i wouldnt want to jump back in.

It's arguably* the second-best "high fantasy" MMOG out there at the moment. Go get the "Play the Fae" trial and give it a go.

Having never played EQ2 before and this Living Legacy offer applying to EQ2 even if you never purchased EQ2, I decided to give it a shot. So far I leveled up a toon to 24. It is certainly enjoyable to play around solo and explore to see how they decided to change Norrath but I certainly can't see myself playing the game long term. It just doesn't seem as polished or fun as WoW and I can't see it holding my interest long. The zones largely interest me due to nostalgia factor but the quests are rather generic and boring. Perhaps most importantly is it seems like no one is really playing, so grouping for a low level instance seems nearly impossible. A giant zone like Butcherblock Mountains has like 7 people in it at any given time and it covers a large level range which has numerous quests for both good and evil factioned people. The impression I get is that I'll have to solo to 80 which honestly doesn't appeal to me that much.

I'm also having difficulties finding a class I really like to play, I'm playing a Troubador atm. RIP Beastlords...

That's like the worst class if you have to solo
If you are not AB, better reroll there if you want groups. And these groups will start to come reliably only at level 30+ if you are not in a guild.
All classes can solo but the bards are really not good at it. Very good class if you want to raid but else better pick another.

But anyway I am not sure EQ2 can be fun without a guild or at least few friends. The solo leveling is more a revamp than an initial design and so is far less fun than in WoW. Without a group it will be very dull, not many HQ can be done solo, most long quests need a group, and all dungeons and instances require a group (or 2-3 twinks knowing the game).

When EQ2 came out, I fired it up and had fun for a few weeks until WoW came out, at which point I abandoned it. All of my friends had plans for the longest time to hit up WoW when it dropped, and I went with them. Since the free EQ1/2 trial came out, I fired up EQ1 for nostalgia factor and just couldn't do it. It felt weird having to relearn just how to get to places, especially when considering I knew it all at one point. Plus, having 10 people in PoK at 8PM on a Friday was very demoralizing, knowing groups would never be found.

My roommate was really into EQ2 for the longest time, and recommended I try it out. I created a Wood Elf Fury (All Salshun's have ALWAYS been druids) and I'm currently 23. I am having an absolute blast. My roommate got me into his guild, all friends but still grouping/raiding kind of thing. The trade skill system is just bad ass, and all of my gear is great for its level, and all player made. The population is there, as I got 3 different 6 man's last night at 3am with no effort. The guild is very friendly and has made all of my gear. The nostalgia is there but in a different way, as I remember all of my stuff, but I'm learning it in a new way. I can't wear it, but I just completed my Dwarven Ringmail Tunic quest. I'm going to be doing my Manastone and Bag of the Tinkerer's quest soon. I like the magic and melee system, and the game has a ton of personality, something AoC doesn't, as I feel the game is way too mechanical with no heart or soul. MMO Virtua Fighter FTL.

My only real complaint is traveling, as the game gives you NO help finding most things, but in a way I can look at it as a "glass half full" thing, because I know where EVERYTHING is in all zones I've been to.

If anyone is interested, I'm on the Befallen server, if you join both me and the guild will do whatever we can to help you out. Here's is my character thus far:

Indeed. I knew that sounded wrong when I typed it but that goes for most of the shit I type.

Does any body here play a 70+ necro here? Are there any large noticeable changes to the play style?

A small help is given by EQ2maps, I believe their site is EQ2Map Sometimes it helps with frustrating, well hidden mobs.

There is also a mod that adds several link buttons to items and quest items to all the major websites with info EverQuest 2 Wiki:Main Page - EQ2i (was eq2i) is the best imo, sorry but I can't remember that mod's name.

In my opinion eq2 is the best game out there if you play the right class for you and with the right people, but starts going downhill when you reach the raiding portion of the game and even in single group setting, sometimes it gets on your nerves, but it is generally speaking, an awesome game to play 1-70, sucks a bit 70-80 for the levelling part and starts to be good again at 80, but once you start raiding... meh.

Fury is an excellent choice, it's one of the truly well made classes for what concerns the combat flow. I'd have made a fae, a high elf or a dark elf, permanent safe fall is a blast in that game, adds a lot to the fun

Yeah, I'm hearing the raid portion is a bit lacking, but I'm having a blast soloing and even with small group stuff. I think once I hit 80 I'm just going to petition the server's resident uber guild. If I try it with them and I still don't like it, at least I know I experienced the best the server has to offer.

Because of all my veteran rewards, I'm popping an XP potion every time I log on and getting 4-5 levels a session.

Probably cause everyone hangs out in the guild hall to grab buffs there, and other things like grabbing your corpse for a res.
