Initially it told me I had to patch for 3 hrs, then it slowed way down on Luclin files for some reason and had to be restarted at about the 4 hour mark, but it was done when I woke up this morning. Looking forward to loading up the old dorf cleric tonight and seeing if I can find any recognizable names.

Is Luclin (formerly Veeshan) still a server? Or is it merged into something else?

I agree... completely. The instance hiding is disgusting. People made the PvP server unenjoyable. However, there were moments when it was really, really good. It was sad you could see the potential in their PvP. SoE/EQ2 came so close sometimes to getting over the hump on their PvP but they continually took more steps back. It had real promise and some glimpses of hope several times. The people kept getting worse in protecting their titles, kill counts, etc.

I finally got logged back into EQ last night on my old 60 Rogue who is basically naked apart from his epic and a couple of pieces of crap armour.

I was kinda hoping this free armour would be a full set, instead I received 3 pieces of armour that I didn't need as I already had stuff in those slots!

I ran around PoK for a bit and realised I had no money, not much gear and had no idea wtf to do

I might log my Druid in tonight on my other account, at least he has cash and equipment! Shame he's on a different, crappy server.

It's all kinda lost on me really, I left some time during Luclin, came back briefly after PoP and that's it. I haven't really touched EQ since then so I have no idea what's going on.

I briefly logged on to my 62-63(I forget) level necro this morning before work and it looks a bit better graphically, but where the fuck should I go level? I feel so lost and clueless on where to go....heh

And are there custom UI's for EQ1 too?

Look at the hotzone list on the forums, go there. Buy plat for peanuts and pick your purchases -smartly- and you can gear up for less than the cost of the box. No clue what server would actually have people to group with at any level less than 75+ though.

The equipment thing turned out lame - one per account, but its bind on equip and thus people are selling them everywhere. The stats I saw were complete shit, though. I think I saw a 12/20 rec level 70 dagger, are you fucking kidding? I think you can pick up 23/19 weapons off the ground at that level. What the game -really- needs is NON level limited uber twink loot. Log on, claim some 125 hp shit at level 1 and go to town. Oh well.

The AA changes and extra hotzone XP are pretty nice, but I still say the -only- way for EQ1 to revitalize is to let people skip 60 levels or more. Its a group game and there's nobody to fucking group with, duh?

I could be wrong, though, I didn't exactly go to each hotzone and take a census. If this try at it doesn't work then maybe it could happen.

I am in the same boat. I feel absolutely lost. Played for 4 years and knew everything I needed to know and now I am just looking at the screen dumbfounded on what to do. Oh well, at least its free.

Anyways haven't logged in like 4 years, gonna try and duo places with friend "hopefully" tonight, had like an hour half left on download last night. We'll be lost like everyone else but should be fun to explore like the 6 expansions or so we missed lol.

They should have offered one time free transfers for characters too for all the merges they did. Hmm would they have that still if you didn't take advantage of it in the last server merges? Guess I'll find out for sure tonight.

For some people it is, for others it's hitting 20 different buttons in a fight.

That's mostly EQ2. That said, I prefer 5-6 buttons for 95% of uses as in WoW and EQ vs EQ2's 15 different abilities with 15 different more emergency uses.

I started over on Xegony only because I have a few friends with higher level toons there that are willing to PL and give some starting gear/cash. I have no idea what the population is like but I guess as long as you are just looking to level and have some fund, a group is as good as a guild.

Anyone else on Xeg or looking to start, give me a shout and we can group up.

I press close to 20 different abilities every fight and none of them are emergency/situational type abilities. I enjoy it a hell of a lot more than the 5-6 I pressed playing a similar class in WoW. But like Pinski said, its all preference.
