| After they released Zone 3, they decided to completely redo the game basically. who knows how long until open beta to be honest, I think its been a much larger undertaking than they thought. |

| Honestly I'm surprised flagship hasn't gone under yet. I'm even more surprised that they still have resources to continue developing a supposedly f2p game. Smells like they're planning on monetizing mythos to recoup their HG:L losses. |

The problem is the failed horribly and ended up ditching the entire pvp aspect. That's the biggest problem. Thats what makes FPS games great hits. Next they just called the single player campaign a MMO and made quest hubs instances. Other than the quest hubs most people just go solo the rest. There was nothing deserving a subscription at all in my opinion and many others. Its a great single player game to run through a few times. It deserves no subscription and they offer no real multilayer for a FPS type game.

| Just tried it again. Game is still slow tedious grind with random maps as the thrust of it. Itemization is much better but ranged trounces melee easily, no question, not even close. Spec for AE/minions if you're going to focus on PVP. They've added robust crafting since last I played. What that means is revisiting randomly generated maps for reagents to craft stuff. Interesting is the % chance to fail a crafted item as you buff it up. The pace is just slow, even slower than hellgate, and aside from the few "wow this ability rapes" talent progressions the others are just flat, boring passives. D2 got away with the grind because the grind was as fast as you could handle it. A slow grind just to gain 1% more power? Zzz. It'll be interesting to see where this ends up. They're pushing the seamlessness as if it's a big deal, when basically their hyper-instancing blew in the first place. OK, great, so they've caught up to 3 years ago. The look and feel of the game has gotten a lot better later on. The first time I ran through it I forced myself to hunt down epic upper level maps. Now I couldn't get past level 10ish because of the tedium. D2 is still the best out of any game similar: Hellgate, Mythos, Titan Quest, Revenant, Dungeon Siege... I'm sure I'm forgetting others.... I really think that 3D does not work for this style of game, have yet to come across one that really felt fast paced where you were really integrated into the environment. Dungeon Siege tries to make up for that by having hundreds of items shit out at you to the point that you need the mules... |

+23 Internets | I agree, and the seemless zones they were talking about don't exist. You still zone and all that so maybe I don't get it. Only level 14 but yeah its is sloooooooow leveling and the stuff you get on leveling up is lame until the next tier. Saving up for a respec so I can get minions as opossed to my bouncing fire trail of death. I imagine it wil be nice when it splits into more but right now its just tedius. |

I find it fairly decent and play it on and off, but many of the skill trees and builds you might make do suffer from a lot of repetitiveness. A few builds have 4-5 skills used, but a lot has just all of 1 or 2 different skills that is really used.

| Is the fastest way to level just grabbing quests and going into said dungeon to the final floor and anchorstoning out? I want to try out some later tier specs but its taking sooo long to level. Also it seems they still can't fix the shadows in this game. I think it existed since day 1 and just recently on test server said they fixed it and what do you know, the very first dungeon I go in starts off all blacked out. |

+4 Internets | I played a bit a long time ago. Haven't touched it for a few months since. Hearing the new stuff they added/changed, I've decided to log in again to take a look around. Since crafting is new, can someone briefly explain what it is? I see lines, like skills? But I also see crafting recipe books? So I need the skill for the book to make 'X' item? Does that make sense? Terran/Sylvan/Ethereal? Haha, things just looks all mixed up to me. Or better yet, just tell which crafting 'tree' I should go down? What slot is a pita to find for but can make a decent craft? I'm running around as a gadget tinker if it matters. The game does look smoother then what I remember last time I tried. Maybe I'm just biased since tring to play some of the newer games these past few months has gotten my eyes used to seeing lower fps and this was a refreshing 'jump'? Hehe. I figure I'll give the game another fair shot to see if things are better inbetween the current free month of EQ1/2. |
