I've seen nothing that specifically says you'll do a quest to be able to use flying mounts in Northrend, but they did indeed specify in the last big release of info that you can use them again at level 77 and that there is NOT a new rank of riding skill. Whether there will be a quest to do, a small fee to pay to someone, or you simply ding 77 and hop on your flying mount is unknown.

They did say that the flying amounts available in Northrend would all be the faster speed of the Armored Netherdrakes. They also said that they are considering lowering the cost of epic flying as they did with epic land mount riding skill, although they stated very clearly that this was just something that they were discussing and made no promises if this would actually happen or, if it did, how much the discount would be.

I would love to see it drop to something like 3000-3500g.

They also said there will be new mounts that carry passengers, thats probably going to be the new gold sink, now you gotta buy land and flying mounts that hold passengers of the EPIC ones that hold two!!!!

Also I bet the ice continent has at least one jungle / desert. Remember in WoW you can go through a tunnel and it's winter on the other side.

Right, because we all complained about how unrealistic EQ's topography was when it would switch from grasslands directly into a desert into a swamp. Man, we hated that shit.

No desert but there is a jungle: Sholazar Basin. However, it actually has a justifiable reason for being there. Just like Un'Goro, it is a sort of "life experiment" started by the Titans, and it was magic stone pillars or something that create its unique climate and so forth. This is also where the Wolvar and Oracle factions will be IIRC.

Also, am I the only person who totally does not give a shit about passenger mounts? Unless it's like 1g or something I cannot see myself feeling any desire to purchase one.

Depends on how many passangers you're allowed to have. It'll be nice for two-boxers at least. Auto-follow fails quite regularily when flying.

It'll be probably be fun to pickup random people for a "free ride" then unequip your armor and dismount in the air. 10% durability repair cost for your passenger. I foresee a world of funny screenshots and videos.

Honestly with all the dailies that exist now there really is no reason to drop the price on the epic flying mounts any more. All it takes is a bit of will power not to randomly buy useless crap from the AH for 2 or 3 weeks and you can likely get your 5k to buy the fast mounts.

The passenger mounts usefulness will depend on if there are any quests that need a gunner/bomber passenger. I can see land mount ones that would be nice in the old world. I help out friends alts a lot and it would be freaking nice if I could take them with me to run them to dungeons faster.

Someone once said that while leveling sell everything that was white. EVERYTHING. I was skeptical of this but on my last character I have leveled up I did exactly that. I figured what the hell. I sold literally EVERYTHING that was not grey on the AH. (Auctioneer ftw) I have 1k by level 50. This character is now 62 and has his epic land mount and another 1k in the bank.

Please note that this characters professions are alchemy/herb not two gathering professions. I have used 90% of my herbs to level alchemy and sold all the potions (even the stupid ones) on the AH. So I didn't make all this money by selling off gathering professions. I fully believe by 70 I'll have over 5k.

Also who the hell needs 7 gorilla fangs? Or scrolls of spirit?

I'm just too lazy to list everything in the auction house, I feel like it's faster to vendor everything then just farm the gold once I'm 70.
