I canceled my sub. Maybe when the game is finished I'll try it out again.

I've never had so much fun guildhopping in a game than AoC.

I'm pretty sure my main goal of this game is to join a guild and see how crazy I can get before I get booted. That's the only way I can stay entertained.

The anti-pvp drama on pvp servers is hilarious.

I came back after a 6 day break to learn that our guild was in some sort of convoluted no-combat pact with 3/4 of the server. I killed 4-5 people in E-Mountains before getting tons of shit from my officers/guild leader. Better yet, the leader of some other guild actually asked me to apologize for ganking one of their lowbies.

Speaking of guilds, how are your guilds doing in AoC?

We just lost 5 people who quit, and there's definitely a bit of a lull of folks online compared to a few weeks ago. Some people app to the guild and I can never find them online after that.

I have to echo the other posters in having little motivation to farm for crafted. I do still want to see our T2 buildings but the resource requirements means a long time coming for our small guild. Considering I've been having more fun playing Diablo 2 lately says a lot!

The german community manager "Waldgeist" just told us that farming epic field of the dead is an exploit and people doing it are "logged". I have never seen a that stupid cm ever.

Next thing he said is that aoc has game masters that do work (like banning gold sellers), so I guess it all is some kind of big cruel joke. The only GM my guild ever met could neither speak english or german (on the german server).

Speaking of GMs, I actually had a somewhat positive experience with my first petition. Managed to delete my horse like a retard when clearing inventory on the run, sent a petition, a few minutes later I get whisper from a GM who promptly teleported to my location, told me he has logs of me selling(?!) my horse and that I'll have to pay him 20silver to get it back.

Still better than buying a new one for 2g though.

I'm in a more casual guild that is allied with a couple of other small casual guilds. We've done all the tier 1 stuff and with 1 more vistrix kill will be able to start tier 2 raid mobs. We've got our tier 3 city started and battlekeep up. We're still having fun for the most part, but I think some people are getting frustrated.

I just stopped logging in a week ago. I don't really plan on playing much anymore. It looked like they were patching in some good stuff with some good speed. But that failed. Maybe once it's better. There is no end game. It's funny. I was having a great time leveling and playing. I level to 76 then rerolled and leveled to 62. I've never did that in any game before.

It was fun. Then one day I just didn't feel like playing anymore. It's probably that 60-70 grind that hit me. Good thing WAR beta came back up.

if it would just not show on vendor (or if there was an option to show or not show certain items, resist gear / horse etc), like other things that do not show up at vendor for some unknown reason

I fucked up my level 80 destiny quest by spamclicking the get thru invis thingy until it was apprently out of its - invisible to the player - charges, before actually getting to the zone for the destiny quest. On my low pop server its hard enough to find groups for anything, the chance of finding one that can deal with three elite level 82 caster mobs at once is going to be, well I think my sub runs out before that happens (I tried to reach a GM, after 6 hours I was at position 0 of the queue (starting at position 5), 2 hours later I was still at position 0 and well I had enough.

haha field of dead bosses an exploit huh, well maybe killing 2-4 bosses there at once and making 12g/hour might get me some attention afterall. wonder how good they tracked the gold then cause I spent most of it buying mats for guildbuildings / gems etc.

The retarded amounts of material and the similar retarded way of getting that material in a non exploitive manner is that starts people like me to get more and more into 'shady' areas.

Most of my guild quit shortly after the first month. Everyone got 80 and bored. I couldnt push myself through the last 2 levels, grinding blows. The grind alone is bad, but getting ganked every 10 minutes by bored 80's no matter where you go gets old. I tried joining a new/big guild but it's just not fun. Down the road i might go back, but for now i'm back playing WoW bleh.

Honestly, if the August PvP patch with full reward and ranking systems doesn't go in or is terrible... that's the end.

Probably 95% of my guild has canceled, I can only think of one guy who hasn't. Obviously he's joined another guild so yeah our guild is pretty much dead (especially now that we got a bunch of people in WAR guild beta).

What really astounded me was a big zerg guild - and the top guild on the server is basically dead. Ebonlore is still around but they're recruiting anyone they can. And another one of the major zerg guilds can barely... zerg anymore. Tyranny sounds like it's pretty much a ghost town aside from the people who haven't hit 80 and figured out the game is a pile of shit yet.

My take on it, the game is great, it's actually really well done from an artistic and gameplay standpoint, one of those I really enjoy like EQ and WoW.
There's just not much of an end game.
To me it really does the same as City of Heroes, it's very refreshing and the levelling is a ton of fun but at some point there's nothing left to do so you just stop or you get bored.
So what? It's still a great game, just not the usual MMO we're used to where you can stick with it 3years straight without getting bored.

I agree. The only thing left to do in AoC is go on an antisocial warpath and troll guilds and former friends. This was more humorous in EQ1 PvP and Vanguard PvP, so AoC even fails in that aspect as well.

The news about Tyranny being a ghost town is very revealing. I thought about rerolling with Ebonlore for the lulz, but it seems the game is already on its last leg.

Id rather re-do Vanguard launch than relive AoC. AoC was the most hollow gaming experience thus far for me personally. I can look back at VG and recall having some good times. I now realize that the VG game experience was influenced greatly by public perception and negative pressure. VG, before being placed on life support, was a decent game capable of generating some fond memories. Brad wins, Funcom loses.

AoC was less filling than beer and peanuts.

It's not a total ghost-town yet, my friend reports there are still multiple kheshatta instances, but they're full of new faces. So I'd guess it's people who haven't gone the full cycle yet heh.

And yeah trolling their main forums is pretty fun but kind of sad. Like heckling a funeral.
