| Twobit, nobody is arguing stats or facts with you because you are biased and full of shit. Admit you have an Axe to grind and hate Funcom and then back out of this thread, You canceled You fail to answer why after slamming this game as horrid, bad, not ready for primetime, and going to flop on release, you went ahead and purchased it. There is certainly a lot to criticize and there are many who bought it and disliked it, but that's different than someone being hypocritical and pretending to have a clue, when they obviously do not, such as you and your 'friends' stats. The other thing is it's July, which is a slowdown time for many of the casual gamer types with families and lives. The mainstay of AOC, just like WOW will be the casual people who play it now and then, enjoy it, but don't have multiple 80s and are complaining about the endgame a month after release. Most of them are in Field of the Dead or Khopshef still exploring and playing on their limited schedules. |

Please, provide some data to support the 'facts' pulled from your sandy vagina. I've done you the courtesy of presenting something, you have done nothing but offer insults. Maybe while you are at it you can explain the obvious difference in trends here. Both MMOs, both in the same time frame. If your assertion had any basis in fact then we wouldn't see that right?

It's okay to call people liars and not expect them to respond? Would you do the same?

+23 Internets | Your taking it personally when they are talking about a game, yes your name was mentioned and they asked you to back it up and blah blah. Still you gotta know when to back off and say this isn't worth the time. Unless your name is Tad that man is relentless haha. |

I don't take the game personally, but when people bandy big words like 'liar' about and can't back them up then yeah.. maybe I do take it a little personal. Of course I am confident that Gecko's punkass wouldn't dare say anything of the sort to a real person.

| its xfire (irc/hosting/buddy list/etc tool) which tracks how many ppl are playing games while their tool is running. top is aoc and bottom is wow I'm guessing. pro-aoc users will say that nobody runs aoc under xfire since it makes it crash, and that most xfire users are 16 year old turds who shouldn't be playing aoc anyways. anti-aoc users will say it shows a decline in aoc usage. all we know at this point are 3 facts (1) at least 1 million copies of AOC have shipped out. (2) as of June 1st 500k copies of AOC were sold (worldwide) (3) as of June 30th there were 700k accounts created on Funcom's website (worldwide) for AOC. We have no idea at the moment how many subs Funcom has, and won't for at least a month or two. We do know they sold 500k in the first week, and more than 200k in the next 30 days. There is 0 info on what their retention rates are, how long an average user plays, how long between box purchase and someone creating an account, whats the average subscription type, etc. We'll probably see the buddy keys muddy things up a bit more as well once they let those loose. Their 1st half ends on July 30th so we should see financial info on how many customers are paying a subscription fee a few weeks after that. Last edited by spronk : 07-03-2008 at 02:32 PM. |

| TwoBit, the new Jayreb! Jesus, you post wayyy too fucking much and all of it is the same biased hate mill. Yes, I'd for sure recommend this game to friends and in fact I have and they're playing it now and loving it. The 1-60ish game is absolutely great. I don't see how people can't get enough entertainment out of that to justify the 50 bucks. It's tough to explain why but the pvp is really fun. I like it so much more than WoW and cannot wait for the full pvp system to go in. |

| http://www.funcom.com/funcom/fronten...ual_Report.pdf is an interesting read, gives breakdowns of how much AoC has cost (around $40m in 2006 & 2007, probably $70m total?). They got a 10 year Conan license in 2003, and updated it to be active till 2023 last year - they are the only ones who can make Conan games. Some interesting tidbits: page 11: their next MMO, Secret World, is already playable (dec 2007) and after AoC launches they will be transferring devs from AoC to Secret World page 12: Secret World will also be targeting the Asian market, and their Beijing office is playing a big role in asset and art production page 14: the casual gaming segment is one of the fastest growing areas of online gaming and Funcom has R&D ongoing on two new casual MMOs. Funcom intends to become a leading independent developer of casual MMO offerings. Last edited by spronk : 07-03-2008 at 03:13 PM. |

| If 3 sentences is too long for you to read then I weep for our future. ![]() It's funny how I can calmly present a point and back it up with data yet that is some sort of 'nerd rage' meanwhile it's totally cool to call people all sorts of internet insults and accuse them of lying for no reason. That sounds awesome! You have something to confirm that? Or is that just your opinion? Is Xfire the Next MySpace? - Feb. 17, 2006 One is WoW and one is AoC. I was simply using that to kill the idea that summertime is somehow unique and that gaming takes a nosedive across the board simply because it's hot outside. Obviously I have shown something that suggests otherwise. Of course, maybe AoC is so unique and advanced that only people who play it don't play during the summer while every other game is played just as much and in most cases more. That must be it!
