And if you roll a 0 on need then it defaults to the highest greed roll.

Man what is with the log files being generated. After a few days of playing I have several gigs of log files in the 'oldlogs' folder. Is it like this for anyone else? These aren't memory dumps either, its all text information, mainly symbol not found errors.

Having a hard time playing. Everytime I start up I get anywhere from 150m to 3gig patch I need to download, I play for a min or two, I crash, and have another 10min wait to get back in.

Whats up with these download speeds, I was faster in 99 with dialup.

You have a choice between 4 epic items for your reward from the level 80 destiny quest (2 rings, 2 necks). Most people will probably take the ring although it depends on your class as to which is better. For a ranger I took the ring since it is clearly the better option.

The level 80 destiny quest is easy as hell but apparently some people can't finish it since they probably don't realize if they don't fight where the mobs run to, they can avoid fighting the entire wave at once. For any MMORPG veteran that should be common sense to try.

Anyone know if the answer you give at the level 30 destiny quest guy, when you finish the quest, change your character permanently ?

I picked as a guardian the 'my wounds closed something' answer and I think my life regen while in combat went up, however that regen is different all the time (I have the talent for regen during combat too). Don't know where to look other than the defense stance tooltip/info.

Yes. Your choice changes which attribute will be buffed.

Ok, I've had a lot of problems with AoC so I'm spoiler tagging this because it's long.

So far Age of Conan has been the buggiest MMO I’ve ever seen. My experience goes something like this:

Day 1: Installed game in 20 minutes and this was the smoothest part of all. Ran the patcher and seen it was going to take ~6-8 hours to download the patch, so I left it alone that day and let it download while I was sleeping. I have 320 Kbps Internet in my area right now.

Day 2: Wake up and the game still has 2 hours of patching to go. Excitement builds… I fix myself a nice breakfast and break out the manual while I wait for it to finish up. The patcher finally finishes and I register with FunCom and make it to the character creation screen.

While I’m double checking the class descriptions in the manual, my speakers emit a loud, long, and solid BEEP. I hit alt+tab and go back to the desktop. BEEP stops. Alt+Tab back to game and the BEEP starts again after about 30 seconds of inactivity (I grabbed a drink). Ok, so I guess it doesn’t like sitting still on the character creation screen. The only choices I can make on this screen are: Sex, Race, and Class. There are no other options, and the “name” screen is grayed out. I can’t progress beyond this screen because I keep getting an error message saying “You must enter a name before continuing”. But I can’t enter a name you stupid game! This error message will not go away. If you click “ok” or the X to close it, it simply reappears. The only way I could get the error message to go away was to completely leave the game with the Esc menu.

I restart the game about 5-6 times and end up with the same result each time. I can’t create a character because I can’t enter a name. I check the manual, and the Internet to see if anyone else is having the same problem (I didn’t find anything). I try to go to the official Age of Conan website, but when I enter in my age (I’m 26), it keeps telling me “You do not have access to view this material at this time, please see our privacy policy for more details”. I thought I fat-fingered my age, but eventually discovered their server was temporarily down causing this message. Great, I’m hitting problems every way I turn. The server comes back up in a few minutes and I find no useful information on official forums.

Not looking too good at this point. I try one last time to make a character and my computer just freezes up on the screen. I have to reboot my computer and restart the patcher, only to be greeted with the dreaded 15 GB download that other people have seen because the patcher directory is messed up. I run the program to repair the installation, and it doesn’t fix my problem. The only thing I had seen beyond that was pointing to a reinstall (I checked probably 10 different websites where people were having this problem). So I reinstalled it and let the patcher run, because I had stuff to do that day.

I get home after 5-6 hours and grab some dinner while the patcher finishes up. More manual reading. It’s done, finally! I click play and I can create a character, I even got to see all the fancy customization options and enter a name! Joy! I log in and talk to dude, kill a few of the guys on the beach, and get the quest from the shackled woman. Within the next 30 minutes of trying to complete this quest, I have 4 crashes. When I say “crash”, what I mean is that my keyboard and mouse seem to die, and the screen freezes. I can’t ctrl+alt+delete or anything. I just sit looking at the frozen screen until I reboot. I eventually get fed up after the 4th crash, and decide to just play WoW instead.

Day 3: I log in to the game and see my character dead (last crash was during a fight). There is a little window asking me which resurrection point I want to use. Before I click the one closest to me, I crash again! I reboot my computer and log in again (I’m a glutton for punishment sometimes). My character is still dead and now there is no resurrection window, the chat is fine, but none of the esc menus or inventory/social/map/etc buttons work… everything is grayed out again. I control+alt+Esc to open the task manager and kill the program. I then decide to write this essay to relieve some of my frustration.

Now I ask “What gives?” Is anyone else having problems like this? I’ve gotten to play the game all of 30 minutes in the 3 days I’ve had it. I haven’t had this many problems with a game since Dungeon Lords, and that was a big pile of shit if I ever saw one. I see a lot of people are enjoying the game, but I’m not sure if I’ll be joining them at this point.

Don't think its the game, those sound like a RAM/GFX or Driver issue.
