"Let me try to clarify that rather vague statement I made in the other thread.

We're aware that the way gems are currently implemented is not satisfactory. The problem is that the solution needs to be focused and as airtight as possible. This is why a quick fix is not necessarily the best thing to do despite how big of a problem it is.

Any change to the gems has to be looked at from a metagame standpoint as well. What does a gem nerf do to the economy? What does it do to player morale? It's a larger question than simply "fix the gems now plx."

It will be changed and it will hopefully be soon (and I know how dreaded the word soon is) but, right now, there's simply nothing definite that I can tell you since it's still being tweaked. I also value my ability to pay my mortgage too much to convey something not concrete to you guys.

While I can't tell you more I will absolutely, absolutely guarantee that the devs in charge of the parts of the game affected by the gem system are aware of the issues and are working hard on it." -Dev

These guys need to stop playing the fucking politician and fix fucking instant kills. If you look at the boards everyone is saying the same thing now. It isn't like an isolated issue it's EVERYWHERE...

None of that stopped them from gutting invuln. gems wholesale, making many level 75+ ones on par or even worse than lower level gems. I'm sure economy and player morale was at the forefront of that decision.

They are biased towards melee because of Jayde. That retard fucked some many things up. I still remember his rants at the end of beta talking about how casters were completely out of touch with the game.

Put a gem on your armor. While it is doing the whole "omg I am crafting timer" put that gem in a trade window. Wait for the item to be done crafting and reject the trade.

You have then successfully duped a gem. Rinse and repeat and you have a full set of gemmed armor.

The exploits in this game beats Everquest, and that is a hard feat to accomplish.

After gaining full Tier 2 armor, I'm done. Need a new game to play sirs.

Seems player morale is like that of goblins

Trouble is, funcon thought they were orcs and could laugh it off when the gobos gots scared and ran off.

The the biggest issue with the exploits these days is that
1) nothing is done about it
and
2) even if something was done people are so fed up with the game that getting a ban for exploiting is just the excuse they need to leave anyway

How the fuck do they actually with a straight face proclaim the need for a reasoned and well thought out solution to this issue when their typical response to any other flaw has been to hack it to death with a rusty bonesaw?

415000 subs august 14th which is more than most expected I suppose.

http://www.funcom.com/funcom/fronten...esentation.pdf

Also read that average age of AoC players is 29 years old. I certainly didn't expect that.

Over 400k subs.... I wonder how many of that are still actually playing the game, though.

Apparently the data is from June 30th. There is an actual investor report and not just the linked public 'presentation'.

Some key highlights are 'worst quarterly loss' in Funcom's history. Apparently the investors aren't buying into the 415k current subs either since the stock dropped 20% today to reach an all-time low of $16 a share.

Not that players should really worry about stock prices, it's the game that matters. Oh, wait..

When you read a lot of investor reports the company always makes it sound like they are going down the drain and fast. They always sound the same.

But that info posted up there is very interesting. Great find.

I was away a few days, so here we go.
It has nothing todo with griefing people. For many people PvP games are simply defined by the ability to attack other players and some focus around it like rewards. RvR/WAR lets you attack other players in certain areas, you get special rewards for it. PvP game!

But what guild politics does RvR offer? Why cant I attack that faggot right next to me? He is a total jerk and annoying as hell, yet his green name protects him. That are certain "areas" you go into to PvP or if you dont want to pvp go into the rest of the world and into safety. Not to mention that there is no risk vs reward.

And now you ask me why I do not accept RvR like in WAR to be a PvP game like EVE or Shadowbane? Think about it. Its carebear PvP, its RvR. Just because I use the word carebear I do not think that all RvR games should be burned by an inquisition or that you are an idiot for enjoying it. It is just not "the real thing". What makes PvP (games) great in my eyes and in those of many other old school pvpers is not only the ability to attack red names, but to pick your enemies, to make alliances and punish people that deserve it (vigilante justice).

I could also enjoy WAR if I could stand the slow wow-ish everquest feeling of the fights and the rather sucky engine. Hell, maybe I can enjoy it anyway. It still doesnt offer what made PvP games great.

the lack of politics is the worst thing in war.. but honestly i would rather play an RVR game than wow and i would rather play wow than play the unfinished pos that is AoC.
