I dont feel like reading some 300+ pages. Quick question: How solo friendly is this game?

I prefer groups, and wouldn't mind some PvP. But, I hate logging in and spending the first hour of my game LFG before I can start enjoying myself.

For a casual player, that could only play a few hours here and there - is this game worth it?

1-70 is solo friendly, but you need some grinding
70-80 requires groups to be playable

Why do people say this? You can solo 70-80 in this game just as well as you can in any game in the history of MMORPGs.

You 'can' if you can find an instance of Kheshatta that doesn't have the 100 square feet of viable levelling area perma-camped.

he prob means on a PVP server where your chances of leveling alone in keshetta are about as good as getting alcohol in china if you are mongolian.

but really there's no point in getting AoC now, while you may enjoy 30-40 hours of the game you run into a very, very hard wall and there is virtually no enjoyable endgame to speak of, especially solo style. Its possible Funcom may fix their problems in 2-4 months, no real reason not to wait until then. Because its also possible the game may end up dying a slow death as people bail on it, many people already think its pretty much dead now.

The WAR open beta should start fairly soon, that game is a lot more fun than AoC.

He says you hit a wall after 30-40 hours, meaning he's probably talking about level 50-60 where the leveling content goes to absolute shit.

Think I've shelved AoC as well now. I don't think it's a horrible game, I was still having fun when playing. But considering I got a War Beta invite a few days ago... (Thanks btw for posting that survey from funcom thing, I went to my e-mail and didn't see that there, so I decided to check my spam, Low and behold... I had given up hope at this point really). But all and all, I still think AoC is a decent game if your going to play it on a limited schedule or enjoy playing a bunch of toons and don't really have high intentions of an endgame. I was on my 3rd alt that I was seriously playing, and still enjoying myself. I couldn't see myself playing it though if I was stuck at 80 and only had one character with no intentions of trying out some alts, from what I've heard from others. I may check it out again though if they do pull off the mystery "huge PvP" patch before my sub runs out, since I have until Sept as I bought a game card when I purchased the game.

Cancelled until Funcom gets their act together.

I strongly doubt this will happen in the next 2 quarters. Assassin and Conqueror were more fun then the WoW iterations, and world pvp was a nice concept with decent execution. Furor & Co should take notes on what made players want to free roam like barbarians for their future iterations of WoW pvp.

The game fails due to poor execution, some crippling AI /exploits, shit itemization and a weak raiding game post warcraft.

It had perhaps the best shot (since Warhammer is a likely writeoff ) of retrenching WOTLK, but when your design team lacks directive 2 months after launch on early concepts like BOE... well, I think Mr. Colbert can summarize my concluding remarks:

WoW isn't designed with 'pvp as the ultimate end game' so it will never be open ended. If you want that, go play eve.

Because certainly there isn't another high level easy to farm zone like Atzels.

Yea. Nevermind that it takes forever, you will be ganked alot on pvp servers and you prolly didnt know that they made the mobs stronger some patches ago.

Yes: You can solo.
But No: It doesnt make sense trying to do it.

right now i'm putting all my points into the carnage tree.

Going from 70 to 80 for the second time with my BS now and some things have changed since last time. The non elite sentry archers now murder you, all archers have three times the range as before and random non elite bosses will hit you for over 1k damage a hit. Kesh might be the shittiest zone I've ever played in, in any MMO.
