For anyone interested, I just posted my experiences with GTX280 vs ATI 4870 relating to AOC in the general forums computer post.

My guild defended our Battle Keep for the first time last night. It was pretty damn fun, minus the bugs.

If only they could delivery most of what they promised... sigh

defending a battlekeep is fun because you are basically sure to win no matter what the other side does.

Yea just open the door and let them kill the keep. You still win.

Attacking a keep would be fun as well imo. I just like pvp and it becomes a good concentration of people to fight with for a few hours.

Brings back TM-SS memories.

attacking is dumb because you have to read about how the defending side owned you for a week after you do it even though no one has ever taken a keep and most people who arent retards agree that its basically impossible.

Not to derail, but I just grabbed 2 4850's for $300 on Newegg. They demolish a single 4870 and equal or surpass the GTX280 in many instances. I'll post some benchmarks once I get the new PC built later this week.

The Eminence takes Keep from Genesis on June 29th

Not impossible, but it's so buggy atm that you probably have to get lucky to get it done.

Yeah, Only reason I didn't go that route is cause I still have an Nvidia motherboard.

Funcom sold their mobile telco games unit today for $600k, prob just divesting themselves of stuff to stay focused on MMOs (hopefully not desperate for cash).

Did see this : http://hugin.info/133182/R/1232098/262042.pdf

Funcom gets 20% of the boxed retail revenues. Their revenue is $11-12m in Q2, when they sold the 700k boxes, which is about right - $50m or so in boxed sales (including CE) is $10m to Funcom plus another million or so in subs. Losses for Q2 will be 5-6m, so it cost them quite a bit of money to launch AoC.

We really won't hear official sub numbers from Funcom for months, their August report is just going to be official Q2 numbers which only counts subs on June 19th, the end of July numbers won't be heard until Q3 numbers which we won't see till early October.

Black Castle is a fabulous zone.
The whole part with the fire triggers, snake eyes and boulders is so not idiot proof, I laugh and cry at each run.
Loving the game so far, went to Fury, it's well populated and I play a popular class (35 PoM atm).
Can't wait to try sanctum

Black Castle is the best playing experience you can have in AoC now. Prolly the only thing in age of conan right now thats not in pre-beta condition.

Sactrum is a piece of boring trash with nothing but elite mobs without any special abilities in. That includes the bosses. Enjoy your incoming disappointment.

A. Power gamed to 80 and now log in every few days to farm resources or do random pvp. They are generally bored, but probably wouldn't be if there was more than a handful in the guild at level 80 and there was a reason to pvp. None of them have quit, but they don't log in that often and are waiting for the pvp patch.

B. Quit before level 30 because they just didn't like it. A lot quit before level 20, which kind of surprised me because 1-20 was done pretty well IMO.

Every single person that quit was sub-50. Out of the dozen or so that quit, 8-10 didn't even make it out of tortage. A lot of them thought the 1-20 content was horrible for some reason, and a lot of them quit based on what they heard the end game was like... all of which they read on the forums or heard from the people that rushed to 80. Word of mouth is what got Conan so many early subs, and word of mouth is what's going to kill it unless they do something fast for the players that rushed to 80, and for the casuals that are now experiencing the 60-80 content.
Well said ... the majority of my guild falls under "A"

In fact we have been so bored with AoC's End Game that we have taken advantage of the free play available in EQ2 until 7/31. It has been a really fun way to keep our guild connected/active with each other. We still raid twice a week in AoC and should unlock T2 tonight since Funcom reportedly fixed Vistrix and his teeth. Hopefully T2 will renew our interest but I am not holding my breath because I (like many others) picked up AoC for the end game PvP and well um yeah ...
