I do salute you for trying to turn +200.000 players in a "declining population". The absolute and definite proof of one poll of 1.000 players is of course very compelling evidence for 3rd graders i suppose. And off course there are 500k players who just throw 50$ at FC with no intention what so ever to even continu playing (i mean, they're all already lvl 80 full epix or whatever).....

No question the population is on the decline. Combined with the EXTREME incompetence of Funcom, the pigheadedness of Godager and core gameplay system flaws, it's damn close to a Vanguard-level failure. Obviously Vanguard is still around, and AoC will continue to be around. But make no mistake - fewer than 200k subs put it it a completely different light as far as the publisher and investors go, and doesn't give it the kind of future that they wanted. It's just an also-ran at this point.

| Most console games nowadays cost more than $50 and last less than 20 hours, so paying $50 for a game that gives you at least 100 hours of fun (1-50) is pretty decent imo. Especially if for $15 in six months, you can get another 40-50 hours of fun. One big diff between now and 2004 when WoW launched is that if you don't like your MMO, there are a lot more options. I remember when my WoW server would constantly be crashing my friends and I would play DOTA, but we kept our wow sub still on because we didn't want to play EQ2 and there wasn't much else, since I had played every ps2/xbox game I wanted to. Yesterday I finished HL2 episode 1 and started episode 2, great shit. Gonna play portal tonite and bioshock or mass effect this weekend. Got at least a dozen xbox360/wii/ps3 games lined up for summertime, all the games I never got to play while playing WoW, and I can buy em for 50% off usually too since they are a few months old. Those are much, much more fun than grinding another level in villas or aztel in AoC, especially since I know they will eventually implement quests to flesh out 50-80 - why pay now $15 when in a few months I can re-activate and not really miss out on anything? |

But yeah, I've pretty much stopped playing AoC, even though I have a month still going, but then again I'm having my usual trouble finding any non mmo interesting. I tried Mass Effect, but it didn't hook me right away, in fact I found the combat to be shitty as hell and reminded me of Tabula Rasa, which is not a good thing. Probably has to do with the fact that even though I chose the "sniper" class, I can't fucking put points in sniping until higher levels. That's like choosing sorcerer and not being able to cast spells until level 10. I'm considering buying a Wii and super smash brawl since it finally released over here, and would probably get the zelda and metroid while I'm at it. I just need to find a place where they sell Wiis. I still can't believe I can walk in a big shop and they don't have any wiis for sale because they don't have any in stock anymore. It seems I'd have an easier time finding cocaine asking random people on the streets. Still keeping a doubtful eye on AoC. Seems they're gonna skip the whole week in terms of patches, so next new interesting news will pop in a week from now.

| As much as I'm enjoying AoC at the moment, taken in relatively small doses during a handful of evenings a week, I keep feeling the urge to load up my copy of The Witcher, and finish the game for once. I think I stopped playing in Act II, due to not having enough time, but the game was simply badass. So much in AoC reminds me of The Witcher. Does anyone else feel the same? |

| Why are so many talking about a declining population as a fact? I cancelled and I'm sure others did too. Considering the state of the game at higher levels it's not exactly surprising to see the more hardcore players who have little patience at max level these days, quit. But I finished third grade and also came to the conclusion that going from 500k to 700k in a month would suggest the opposite of decline. Maybe I'm missing something though. Building a city with a guild with less than ten members sucked btw. |

| I don't see much that suggests they are losing more people than they gain, other than the poll on this forum, but whatever. If that is what's happening they surely deserve it for the unfinished game they released. |

Is it really any more unfinished than any other MMOG to hit the market? Why would AOC suddenly he held to a higher standard than every other MMOG ever released?
