They need to be able to say.. "ooh, that was a bit much, here you have 5% back and this'n that thing is now 650% better" or they'd get bus-shock'ed on their forums. If you give people a chance to whine before the patches even hits, it'd be a TON worse. I expect patch notes and the test server to be better in a few months, when basic balancing is done. Also, their QA team seem to be 3 people with one of them the boss, so you got to admit they'r doing a decent job. | |

| From today's patch: Combat * Active blocking has been revamped to bring it back in line with the original design. Active blocking will now correctly display a buff in the debuff GUI to indicate the effect. You will now have an initial stamina cost upon activation and shielding bonus rather than evade chance. Attacks and heals performed while in “Active Blocking” will also have a reduced effect. Interesting... haven't tested it in game yet, but it sounds better than the old one. |

| The whole trend reminds me a great deal of AC2. Many interesting ideas, many overpowered classes (left to be overpowered for a long time) and with exploits (left again for a long time) followed by draconian nerfs in a vain attempt to bring it all back under control. Hint: It does not work well. I did love my Hivekeeper in AC2 though and my ToS in Conan was amusing too. At least AC2 made me feel bad for my thousands of vassals.

| Yes, it's fun being powerfull.. the same happened in city of heroes. It's fun for a while.. so get in early and enjoy the getting while the getting is good. Getting repeatedly sodomized does however reduce the fun. Hopefully the next mmo will learn from the mistakes out there. Gradual buffing is a TON better than massive nerfs. I wish they'd launch with what they got working and when in doubt, underpower spells/abilities. While people are stupid, as long as they can see some classes getting upgrades, they can wait for their turn. And with that approach, you promise upgrades in the beginning. Sure there'll always be a few nerfs, but for someone that just had a milllion specs where they could kill 6 mobs, getting reduced to where the good specs can take 3, that won't ever be fun. They'll hate it every time they log in and re-roll at best. Last edited by painbringer : 06-26-2008 at 03:31 AM. |

| Heh TOS probably abused it moreso then most, but it's definately not a nerf related to TOS. Everyone could use it and take advantage in dungeons / raids and it gave casters a pretty big advantage in PVP. On one of our Yakhmar raids where I pulled agro, I was able to tank him for over 4 minutes as a Ranger until I eventually lost agro. I'm pretty sure that isn't intended. |

+9 Internets | I think I found the reason why ToS are coming so high in parsing atm. i) ToS are critting at a rate of 18-20% in raids, where Demo crits at a constant 3-4% ii) Healers get feats to not only crit more but also to do increased damage when they crit - a Demo crit will typically be 1.5 x damage while a ToS crit will be 2-3 x damage. |
