| There's a new villa quest, and they bumped up the villa quests to give more XP (29-33k at level 63). The new one is kinda cool, you have to go in and rescue a slave girl from a stygian sorceror, very Conanish stuff. Unfortunately Funcom typical QA shines through, the boss you have to kill teleports around, and of course... they put him right next to a bunch of walls. So he teleports inside the walls I guess after a few seconds of combat and you are done. I finally got him by kiting him to the big courtyard under his room, anywhere else and he would go away after a few seconds. Still the villa xp bump makes them nice for leveling an alt, I'm just leaving my shaman in noble district now, log in to him once a day, spend an hour, knock out 200-300k xp, and eventually he'll hit 70. | So here we are one month after release, and I find that I'm still enjoying AoC quite a bit. What about the rest of you? Of my reasons: 1 - Graphics. Just stunning. From cities, to outdoor regions, to general artistic direction, not to mention combat blood splash and beheading, it just awesome. 2 - Quests. Believe it or not, the fed ex and collection quest make sence in the world they have. From killing wolves and werewolves to find a cure for someone bitten who is going to turn into one, to showing your battle prowess and collecting token by killing the enemy in their keep. It all keeps with the overall story and feel of the game. Not to mention you can be a bit of a dick to quest givers and see thier reactions. 3 - Combat. This is a big one. When you get in a fight it seems to matter how you fight. I find that I have a lot of fun in the fights themselves. Add in the ease of leveling, making this a very casual friendly game, to Funcoms active patching, I see staying with this after the first "free" month and maybe much longer. Especially if they start to add in more content. |

| I think they are doing well. Patching is extremely agressive, sure theres lots of stuff broken and still tons that needs to be implemented but they are doing a fairly large patch twice a week now and I cant ask for more than that. They have fixed sieges, first battlekeep has been claimed, crafting(armorsmithing) is fun and very very worthwhile for me. I enjoy the pvp battlegrounds, theres lots of map variaty and they are good maps, so i really hope they add rewards to them soon so people actually do them. I think pvp is very very skill based, knowing when to block, when to dodge etc how to use combos etc. The PVE raids are pretty fun, we have only raided a few nights casually but it was fun. |

+23 Internets | I am still playing mainly because of the guild I am in and a high second is combat. Quests are pretty standard and graphics don't matter all that much to me, they ar stunning though. Still stop a moment while in thunder river to look at the waterfalls and such. Still waiting for the polish and balance and the whole crafting thing not working is getting old. |

| On the one hand I want to be mad at Funcom for charging me $40 to continue beta testing their game. The success they have had will have a big impact on the MMO market, people will think its ok to publish early as long as you patch often, which is bullshit. On the other hand my /play time is 4 days on one char and 2 days on another, so thats almost 100 hours so far which is pretty awesome on a $/time ratio. Plus I can appreciate that if they had delayed another 2-4 months, they would have drowned in the WOTLK noise. For now I'm treating it on a month by month basis, I renewed my sub for another month so I can try out TOS. And my god, TOS is fucking OP, at least compared to bear shaman and ranger. jesus, at 30 I am taking on 6-10 mobs with active block and storm, or I can take on elites around my level with some pots, kiting, and luck. My bear shaman has headaches anytime over 2-3 mobs, and forget killing elites, they usually 2 shot him. If they super nerf TOS's and don't buff shamans I'm out, no interest in rolling a 3d alt. It does suck that there is no way to jumpstart alts by yourself to higher levels, you really, really don't get a great feel for a class since 30, 50, and 80 change a LOT about class balance. Its just crap how much time is required to level, especially since its all the same and this is supposed to be a PVP game. Glad I ended up on a PVP server though, although I've rarely killed anyone and been camped dozens of times myself, there is something infinitely satisfying about knowing that you can find and kill any douche who mouths off in chat, steals your node, or is eying your grind spot. |

+24 Internets | Every dev since the dawn of mmo released beta versions and figured it was ok to get paid to finish the game. Even the almighty blizzard released a rather unfinished product(very stable client, almost no bugged quest and leveling experience to cap well done, but broken talents, when they existed, raid content vastly untested untuned and/or bugged, itemization totally crappy and no pvp functions), especially compared to their usual standards. It's nothing new, and patching a lot fast is better than not patching at all. I might not be playing the game 1month from now, but I definitely don't think the launch was a failure, or the game total crap(like it was during beta). It's rather fun, and PvP combat mechanics are well done, even though quite a lot is still unbalanced and requires some nerfing/boosting. |

| Stop running back to old times | You hold down X or which ever key you use for it. It will let you mitigate quite a bit of dmg, but drains your stamina by quite a bit. The reason this works so well for caster classes, is many of them have some nasty pulsing aoe's, so they lay those out while mitigating most of the dmg taken since they do not need their stamina for any thing, unlike melee =/. |

I do get a kick out of the npc and quests names. I like the solo quests and dungens quite a bit as they allow me to experience different aspects of the game with out having to devote a ton of time. | |

| I should add that for all that I like about the game, as posted above, it does have a couple of things that irk me. Travel for one. Hopefully when I hit 50 or so, which is only a couple of levels away now, the horse will help out a bunch. But it irks me to no end that running from Noble district to Field of the Dead take 20 minutes. It's also annoying that a lower level character can sprint more often, and hence get places faster then a high level character. This is because sprint uses stam as a percentage and recovering those amounts take much more time as a high level. Time to add a few more wagons/boats. They need both more quest and a few more mid and higher level zones. The upped exp for the villas will be nice, but lets face it, those are simply grind quests with a bow on top. I have not messed with crafting yet, but from what I hear there are some issues. Especially with gems. Hopefully they will get it straightened out soon. But all in all, I'm much more pleased then not. The fun of the game certainly is weighing more then the rough spots.

| Stop running back to old times | Do you mean the double tap left/right and double tap backward? The side steps makes you straight up mitigate quite a bit of spell dmg and the back step makes you evade 50% attacks and miss 50% melee attacks. I know has no effect on casters, how cool right!?!? Ugh. Last edited by Caocao : 06-16-2008 at 02:38 PM. |
