| anyone else notice that chance to parry and dodge is way way up just in general.. i was swinging at the back of some rogue today and he literally was making me miss half my hits and even from the front lots of my combos would just completely miss... they musta fucked something up with dodge/parry. |

| uh i didnt read the note that said you would get something like a 50 percent chance to dodge if someone attacked your back.. cause i realize lots of people have like 8 evade but it was way way more than 8, either that or the calc they use for if a combo hits is pretty retarded. |

It doesn't require months of training to get some CS people basically functional, and the current situation is a complete disaster. Simple things like the lack of custom chat channels just totally ruin the game experience and are unforgivable in an MMORPG released after 2002, especially for RP guilds - like mine - that require guildchat to be in-character at all times. Unbelievably stupid bugs like being forced to log out (like when you get some stupid debuff "stuck" on your character, the client hard-crashes [which happens automatically if you zone over 8-10 times during a session or for any of 20 other reasons], or your graphics are fucked up) then back in and find yourself not in the same instance as your group and being forced to run MILES to the nearest res point to change instances really tests the patience. The worst problem is FunCom's total lack of communication, other than the propaganda bullshit of the totally uninformed forum mods. I'm sure you've all seen the threads pointing out that stats/skills are nearly completely non-functional (pretty damn funny and sad at the same time, and speaking huge volumes about FunCom's competence) with no dev response whatsoever. It's a gorgeous game and still fun, not to mention a great setting for role playing. But FunCom better get their shit together real soon-ish. Even people bored with four years of WoW are getting the urge to return to the old familiar setting of Azeroth rather than deal with this crap. Age of Conan badly needed another 3-6 months of work before release. | |

| uh grumpy weren't you one of those who kept saying the game was ready for launch when a bunch of beta testers kept posting here it needs more time? A ton of people did make it to 80, multiple times, and kept telling funcom the game isn't done past 40. Like months ago. Plus raids, sieges, itemization, etc which were never put into beta. The best suggestion I heard was reducing the cap from 80 to 60, but I guess Funcom didn't want to appear to have "less" than EQ2/WoW. I think the 1-40 game is fun, 40-50 is ok, past that is just bad. Its so close, yet so far. I don't really believe it but sometimes I think we're basically beta testing the game for them so they can polish it for the xbox360 version. I think I'm pretty much done with the game, I'll make some sporadic attempts to finish leveling up to 80 before my account expires in 2-3 weeks but its just boring as heck now, and I had more fun playing TF2 today evening (holy shit that railroad train level is awesome!!) than another snoozefest grind session in AoC. |

| Went from 3400 to 6600 exp per mob at 79 doing elite 80s in a full group. Very nice. Also caravan instances seems like it should be populated or something, way too easy to farm atm. I also don't see how 60-80 is any less complete than 1-60 now. All the 60+ dungeons are itemized, and there are plenty of quests. Now at the cap there might be issues, but the leveling ride seems fine.

| I'm glad I'm taking it slow and leave for London for a month on July 7th, one day before my free 30 day subscription ends. I'll then be back in August 7th and busy till September and by then the mid-late game should be much more polished. Huzzah. |

+9 Internets | Results on a poll of a few thousand people here : http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs25/f/20...y_mrhenrik.jpg 65% of people give it 8-10/10 with another 20% giving it 7/10. Proof that this forum really does have more than its fair share of whiny bitches that mostly post for attention, whose natural personality is to just bitch and whinge. Personally, I'd give it an 8/10, with a 9.5/10 in regards to the future of the game with content patches and expansions. The key is to find a class you enjoy, as they don't all do what you expect of them ahead of playing. Having said all that, theres a small number of people with valid concerns who have serious bugs hurting them. Folks who just don't like the game please fuck off and find something else to play - we got the message in your first 200 posts. |

+4 Internets | Come on, I don't care how much you love this game, it's not an 8, and certainly not a 9.5. I know the whole argument that all game reviews are totally subjective, but I think there's some fairly common objective points that can be scored. The game shows promise, and there are lots of cool/fun parts, but there are also massive holes in AoC in almost every aspect of the game. The people that keep telling other people to leave the thread or GB2 WoW because they are OMFG BIAZED have become far more annoying. Completely ignoring or downplaying the game's flaws makes you no better than the people harping on and magnifying them. |

| I've been plagued by hardlocks and forced-reboots of my rig since AoC released. As of yesterday, I've removed 99.999999% of them, going into my third full day of play without any untoward interruptions. There are two things that I did on this try, so I'll post them both. First, the incremental changes: This step was finding error logs of frequent attempts by the game to find various texture mesh files within the RDB archive files, failing, and often locking up or crashing the client. Over the course of the last week, I would manually rename a couple of the big RDB files to RDB.OLD or something and start the patcher, letting it pull down fresh copies of the 1GB (one or two per night while I slept). I got the latest of these new files downloaded Friday night. As I did this, I went from a hard-lock every 15-20ish minutes a week ago to once a day or every 3-5 hours of gaming, steadily getting fewer in frequency as I got more files replaced. Second, and this is the one that I don't think many people will be able to work with, but it appears this was the 'silver bullet' for me: I used to overclock my rig quite a bit. About a week before AoC's release, I dropped in a new CPU, and in doing so removed all O/C tunings and put everything back to stock or 'auto' in my motherboard's BIOS, with the idea that after a couple weeks of use, I'd start tuning things back up again to crank up the speeds. I've got a P5N-E, E6850, 2 gigs of DDR3-6400 dual channel, and an 8800GT/512. I changed my RAM timings from 'auto' (where it was running something like 6-9-7-31) to a tighter, manual lock at 5-5-5-12. Doing this on Saturday morning removed every single lockup and hardboot issue I had. My framerate went up marginally, but the stability is what I was looking for. Not a single lockup since then...and I had 15 hours of play on Saturday, and 11 on Sunday, without a single hitch. Obviously, these two things are not applicable to everyone. But the RDB files helped me quite a lot, and if you're not running a big-box PC, the RAM timings may help you out like it did me. |

+4 Internets | Apparently Rangers own me. Granted I'm not a particularly good PvPer, I'm playing AoC to get a better feel for PvP in general, but I couldnt do anything vrs a Ranger 6 levels lower than me. He was 24 I was 30 and I may as well have been level 5. Root Mez Traps, whatever the hell else they have and just disappear if I get close. Fuck. Anyway I respec'd my feats last night and I'm trying out DW now. Any Conqs with some advice on what Feats to make sure I take would be appreciated. This is how I was thinking of going at level 31/2 Age of Conan Feat Calculator | Conqueror Feats |
