[Lost Ranger]

I really like the combat system. In fact because there is alot of grinding from 50-80 I am very thankful the combat system is a little more busy because auto attacking and spamming insta combos would make it sooooo much worse I think.

Also, some of you make it sound so much worse then it is. If every combo required 1,3,2,E,Q to fire off then I would agree that the button mashing is retarded. Alot of my combos though are just 1-2 button abilities. Some are 3 button hits. Pretty sure none of the classes have nothing but 5 button combos. If all you use as a HoX is firelance then you are doing it wrong, simple as that.

As for the age thing. We have required all recruits to be 21+ for years now and it has been awesome. When we do raiding drinking games everyone needs to join in! Word of advice on that though. Don't set one of the rules to "everytime a rogue dies, drink"...

Fire lance is actually easy to get off, it's 33 1 2, it's other stuff that's annoying, however I agree, for leveling I almost used exclusively Hellstrikes starting lvl 40, and it was always a combo with one less key press than the other combos. At 79 it was still 3arrows, none of which were "low" hits.

What really bothers me most about the combo system is that you have to press a series of buttons to execute a single move. It's not like you are pressing a series of buttons for an increased or synergistic effect.

I'll use WoW terms of a made-up example: using scorch before fireball increases the damage of your fireball. Take it a step further and now lets say fireball also snares the target if it's used after a scorch and fireblast. But if you use fireball after scorch and blastwave, it gives you back mana. That would be an interesting combo system.

Mashing a series of buttons to produce a single effect which can be mostly negated by the placement of somewhat random shields is kind of dumb, and also the main reason I'm playing a caster instead of melee.

I see your point but its not like the the series of buttons don't do damage. Plus I have a melee debuff and an unholydebuff so I can do more dmg with my other combos, that a type of synergy.

I realize that. My main problem is the button-mashing. I find it gets very tiresome very quickly.

I just wish you could queue up button mashes a bit more effectively. I do hate having to a button, wait a few seconds, hit another button in the chain, etc.

I know it queues up one extra move, but with lag it's just a crappy thing to deal with.

Yes would be awesome if the combo was 1, 3, Q, 3 and you could just do that real quick and be done with it. I find myself going 1111,3333,qqqq,3333 until its finishes.

I get this and I can only slightly agree.

The spam method makes for easier combos. It's easy to press a wrong button, and if you're quick enough, you can effectively continue a combo in the event of a mistake.

I don't have a preference, because I do make mistakes somtimes.

I lose my combos all the time due to lag. I click to initiate combo... waiting.... wtf... click it again -- then the combo pops but registers my second click on combo and cancels it gg 30 sec cd.


At first i was turned off by combat system, then i kinda liked it , now as it gets more "complex" (aka mashy) as i level, i'm beggining not to like it again.

I don't find myself losing combos often to anything but pressing the wrong key(half my combos start with A, other with E, and I often end up pressing the first key very fast, but sometimes wrong one cause I don't even remember what I was doing ^^). I don't lag, but I'm not an aussie or have a laggy connection.

To be honest, I really love the current melee metagame, and I really love the HoX, today I was trying to figure what class I should get out of tortage to leech xp from my guildmates who are still grinding, and I can't just find any class that'll be half as fun as my HoX is. The whole power mode with avatar is so fun, all of a sudden everything seems(and is I'm pretty sure) faster, and I start swinging for a shit ton of damage, breath for more, every combos is pretty much a one shot, and I pulse AE damage and I use demon maw and exultation of xotli and it's even more brutal... Then people focus me, and I pop phoenix cloak, spam evasions and active blocking, and I'm unkillable for 15seconds at least. The whole class is so so fun. I'm frapsing some of these fights and once I have enough I'll make a video, I can't even understand how people cry that HoX is weak in PvP, I've been a powerhouse since like lvl 30.

All my combos were taking an activation + 3 keys minimum to perform. That's 4 clicks, button mashes, whatever. Per ability. Do that 3-4 times per fight, add in a couple of HoTs, a stun, a roar, a knockdown and a couple of whatever and you could easily approach 20-25 clicks per 3-4 mob even level solo fight.

Some classes may have it easier, I know casters certainly do.. but some of them have it much worse.
