As for HoX, I just hit 60 on mine. They're not tanks, they're pretty much like magic rogues. They can't tank for shit, but they deal a lot of damage, part of it being spell damage(mostly hell breath but depends on spec). They have the highest burst in the game, their combos are devastative, but suffer one huge weakness, they take a LONG time to cast. If you get stunned or kbed during the combo, you won't do any damage. If you don't however, you can and will one shot people(assuming you weaken them with a breath first later on). They're pretty good PvP class, both group and solo, but you should know to fear barbarians, because they absolutely trash HoX. The only way to beat one(one that's not a retard that is), is to root as they kb you, so they can't finish you on the ground, giving you a 50/50 chance to beat them after you get up. I love my HoX currently, very powerful pvp class, and very good at leveling too(can chain 2mobs of same/higher level with little downtime, and under 10secs fights, can kill 4-5mobs at once every 2minutes with morph, very good AEs for group leveling). Definitely not for everyone though, they're the perfect glass canon. Only that instead of a canon, it's a fiery sword. Made of glass.

| hopefully this isn't a double... AoC lvls seem maybe a tad longer than WoW? hard to say. people aren't as familiar with the game yet. I don't see it as being a lot longer or harder than WoW. Seems like Funcom intends for 1-80 to be a bit of an adventure, but they want people to be able to get into the group pvp/pve stuff without tons of time investment. |

| It's definitely faster than WoW. 1-80 is faster than original 1-60.. if you can grind effectively. Because after 50 you will be doing it a lot.

| So after reading this thread and giving up on WoW a month or two ago, I decided to try AoC.....So I create an Assassin on my first day only to see no character show up on the boat. My computer is by no means up to date (Pent. 4, 3.2GHz 1.5gb ram, >x700 Pro<) So I started thinking I was fucked. After messing around with the video settings I finally get to see my character for the first time! So today I wanted to push the limits graphic wise. Sure enough I lost all models again and most of the surrounding buildings. But this time I cant seem to get it to work at all after adjusting the settings. So, any ideas/fixes (besides an upgrade)? **up and running once again!** Last edited by porkyrogue : 05-29-2008 at 10:03 PM. |

Alts are no fun in the game though, you pretty much will do exactly the same thing leveling up on a 2nd, 3d, etc character with minor variations. No real reason to have an alt in this game though, at least yet. I'd say 180-300 hours for 1-80 is a good estimation, which is comparable to 1-60 in WoW. Thats a few months at 20 hours/week. I'm level 48 and around 44 hours /played so far, was in EA so thats almost 2 weeks of real time.

+8 Internets | I was really on the fence and I just pulled the trigger finally. I'm really pretty impressed so far. Granted I only played a few hours, just getting my feet wet. But it is like a breath of fresh air. |

Also is there an option to have names on top of players and npcs heads at all times? Starting to annoy me and I don't see the option.

| 1-80 in Conan is faster then 1-60 in original WoW. I did 1-80 in 6 days when 1-60 in WoW took me like 7.5 days. I'd say the average for most of the original 60's was around 9-10 days so I'd say the average player that is committed to leveling can hit 80 in about 7-8 days /played. The 6 days also includes all of the annoying pvp I had to deal with playing on a pvp server too so it should've been even faster then that as my WoW leveling time had no pvp. But as other posters have said, you will likely be grinding some of the higher levels. The game is closer to Everquest in that regard and unlike WoW, I actually had fun exploring the world in this game like I did in EQ. One of the Keshetta quests you walk down this winding tunnel and you can't see down there and as soon as you turn the corner a giant snake pops out at you. It was the coolest thing ever~ |

| the higher level grind isnt to bad, 60-80 there are prolly only enough quests for maybe half or a third of the levels. But there are a ton of good outdoor camps with massive spawns that you can do with a group, its fun cause group make up doesnt matter to much its like the grouping and grinding in old eq that i kinda liked especially since in AOC it doesnt last long enough to get really annoying. There are like 3-4 good camp spots in each of the post 60 zones for groups of 6... also you can make a raid and the exp isnt nerfed at all it seems except it gets divided more and theres really no need for 7 people, but if you have an odd man out or something you dont have to just screw him over in this game. Its also possible to solo to 80 in like noble district villas i guess but fuck would that ever be boring. Towards the end in this game its a much more group oriented game than wow was, especially on the pvp servers and i really enjoy it since in wow it always felt like grouping was really just slowing you down for leveling. Dungeons sadly arent great xp, they should have made the pre 80 dungeons filled with normal mobs or slightly above normal instead of the super high hp elites who end up really not being worth the time it takes to kill them.. i hope they realize that and go back through and make dungeons for leveling more like just big pulls of non elites instead of small pulls of elites, either that or up the xp by like 2-3x to make up for the fact that people can pull 15 non elites at a time and kill them almost instantly when it takes longer to kill 2 elites and the xp per mob is only about double. That said the dungeons are worth a once through if you have a group just for the quest xp. Last edited by Tolanin : 05-29-2008 at 11:11 PM. |

The main difference is, in AoC you have quest markers for everything, while knowing the game helps a bit with leveling speed, it doesn't help THAT much. In WoW, you either spent time looking at thottbot, reading quest log if you had a functionning brain or knew the quests. My first wow char had less than 5 days played to 60, at US release, with a shitty class back then(warlock, before they figured 32secs corruption and all this shit wasn't so great). I had been playing beta for almost a year and my leveling pattern was close to what you'd find a year later in the powerleveling guides(zone switching, HS setting in current zones to cut travelling, quest grouping and skipping bad ones). This is easily on par with aoc. AoC leveling feels easier because you don't ever look for anything, but at the same time combat is harder(I die more often in aoc than I ever did in wow, even though I'm a cautious player). Because the levels are more stretched, you gain levels faster, so you have a false feeling of progression, but you gain skills at a much lower rate. As for PvP detracting with lvling speed, it's not worse than it was on wow imo, and maybe even better. I played on a very active pvp server on wow, but since there were multiple zones for almost every level range, and 90% of leveling was done through quests(there were some "holes" in release wow), you didn't end up pvping that often, since people would rather quest peacefully and only kill you when they're done with the place than waste time. In AoC however since you end up grinding quite a decent lot, and spawns are limited since you can't generate instances at will and there's not too many maps, you get to pvp more. At least 50+, and especially 60+.
