[WoW] Thinking on coming back, how much has it changed? So, it's been years since I quit it out of boredom and I'm wondering if it's changed for the better. Has it stopped being EQ2 the loot whoring extravaganza or has it had new values added? Also curious about class balance: last I played shaman were being nerfed and shoehorned into crappy healer with totems status, warriors were tearing shit as long as they were proper geared and hunters were DPS madmen without agro control. Finally, if anyone here plays on EU silvermoon/alliance or EU emerald dream/horde, how's the server these days? Might be tempted to recover my 'old 60's.

Almost every talent spec is now viable for different settings, warriors are still great, shamans in terms of raiding can pretty much write their own ticket into any raiding guild due to heroism and each spec actually being very good for PVE, elemental being probably the weakest but still rather good.

| Resto shamen are terrific raid healers and every raid will want at least one Enhancement for the rogue/melee group.

Warriors are still popular in PvP. They're no longer 'the' tank for PvE content though they're still quite capable in that regard. Shamans are competent PvE DPS and also make excellent healers. Shamans are typically regarded as somewhat weak in PvP due to a lack of mobility compared to Druids. In a PvE DPS role, both Shamans and Warriors suffer somewhat from a lack of crowd control--many pick-up groups seem to demand excessive amounts of CC. I don't know enough about Hunters to comment. They stand in the back and shoot stuff. I can't comment on the part of your post that mentioned EQ2 since I never played that game, but loot is loot. Purples are about as commonplace as blues were when the game was new. I'd rate itemization as far superior to how it was in 2005, but with some large gaps still extant. I'm not on the servers you listed (I play on Medivh) so I can't help you there either, sorry. Danth

It's very late in an expansion cycle to be renewing a subscription, IMO. Now is a fine time to do the 60-70 leveling and very lazily dabble in 70 content, but by the time you do any serious gearing for PvP or PvE, the level cap raise will reset everything. I mean, I suppose it's not THAT late, lich king won't hit till xmas at the earliest, but consider yourself warned.

Very useful posts guys =) By the loot comment I meant the focus of the game was pretty much towards loot adquisition with less rewards in other areas like exploration for example since everything was pre-spoiled, mapped and youtubed a week after it hit live. If I decided to re-start from zero, how are druids/warlocks doing these days? Rogues used to be too twitchy for my tastes and I've always found purecasters ala wizards boring.

Warlocks level extremely fast. Going affliction and Dotting everything up and life tapping. Druids level extremly well also with Omen of Clarity, although a bit slow in the beginning. Both are fairley diserable endgame. Although everyone and their brother seems to have a warlock alt of some kind now.

Like Draz said, locks are relatively easy, quick, and fun to level, but everyone has one these days. Druids crawl along at first but pick up at 35ish+ when you can get some real gear...either class is potent in arenas and pve. Last edited by Repo : 03-25-2008 at 10:44 AM.

What are Hunters like nowadays? when I played mine about 2 years ago they were like lawnmowers in PVP. I could take 3 people down at once if I caught them offguard. Considering resubbing my 60 hunter, but if there gimps now may go druid.
