Single target threat is thru the roof. Unless I get a knockdown immediately, and you get a series of crits during my "alternate state" time, it isn't coming off me. 2 mobs I can handle just fine, as long as no one is whacking the 2nd mob from the start. Three mobs? Did I mention I can handle 2 mobs no problem?

Also, with the time it's taking to kill some of these elites in Mistmane...Getting mezzed mobs off the CC player is a PITA. I pretty much need to blow my load to guarantee control. I hate not having an "oh shit" taunt ready to go.

This is a double edges sword though. I LOVE getting the tells for a group soon as I log on, due to the lack of quality tanks...But I NEVER EVER can relax and go into cruise control in higher lvl zones. Sorcs have it bad also I know in that regard... But this is about MY whining dammit!

THAT being said, I pretty much have gone 100% crit, which obviously helps me with my threat, but makes my mitigation or soak pretty lame. Helps a fuckton when I do rarely solo. I went full HP and full block just do test it out, and damn I was damn near unkillable in PVE and PvP.

MY only complaint on money is this. These enchants I swear to fucking god are a 50/50 or less thing. If I blow 100k on a lvl 42 enchant, it SHOULD enchant the damn item! I may spend 300k to get +1 on my gear because of that 2nd failure. Is there a trick to this? Now, I am making gold NP with just vendor/AH loots, but I am pretty much staying put at 2million at lvl 37. It will catch up I think sooner than later IF I want to stay geared and chanted.

I PRAY that they continue to add PvE content, because at lvl 50 I just don't see a viable role in PvP for the Templar.

Overall I will give it one more month (to hit lvl 50 and give the endgame a fair shot) because I LOVE the PvE content thus far.
On enchanting:

Quote:
Once you know your item's level, the next step is figuring out what level Enchantment stone to use. In order to do this, you must know whether the item is of White rarity, Green rarity, Blue rarity, or Orange rarity. You can simply do this by looking at the item and seeing what color the item's name is written in. Once you know the item's level and its color use the following to figure out what Enchantment stone to use:

White Item = Item's Level +1-10 Levels
Green Item = Item's Level +5-20 Levels
Blue Item = Item's Level +15-40 Levels
Orange Item = Item's Level +30-50 Levels
From Guide on Enchantments, Manastones, and Godstones - Guides - Aion

I doubt a lot of this information is completely true. But the chance of success seems to be a correct assumption. I am getting fair successes by using stones +10 levels on my Green orb.

At least this game encourages world pvp.

Go through the rift and log off, log back on during non peak hours. Finish the Spy quest, done deal

Today my guildies got invited into a dreadgion run and fuck I was jealous hearing them on vent, sounds like a blast, gotta rush 1,5 levels quickly.

They earned 3K AP for winning and extra points for their punctuation (2x the points you obtained).

Which makes up for the clusterfuck that so far is Armorsmithing. It's hard to compete with people who have bought kinah and can "afford" to sell items for less than the manufacturing cost of charcoal and acid.
You're missing the part that you can sell blues for 10 times the cost in some cases.

I sold about 40 worthy noble titanium shields a little over a week ago for 375,000 each and they cost like 20k to make.

About tradeskills: Anyone knows if there is a Character level minimum to raise tradeskills past X99? Do I have to be level 20 to be able to get past 299? Or level 50 to master it past 399 - or something like that?

I'm leveling Alchemy up on my first character, which I do not play as much as my 2nd one anymore. I wonder if I'll be fucked and will be forced to level him up or start from scratch on my new "main".

Note, those cutscene quests are not necessary. All you need to do is the "Important Delivery" or message or something. It's from Konto inside to Lisya. She then gives you 2 quests and the guy beside her gives 1.

I don't think so I was 200+ before I hit 20. I think you just need the money but I remember hearing about a quest or something higher up =O

Dare I say a good post on Aionsource? It's long so I'll spoiler it:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I've been following Aion for nearly 2 years and I am now about to reach level 41 as a Cleric. I've been playing MMOs for nearly 9 years now.

Needless to say, I'm also the founder of Curse.

Regardless of that, there are three issues I want to bring to the front page today that need to be addressed or this game will end up being a 300k subscriber game within 6 months, not the one-million+ subscriber game it should be.

Facts:

* Aion is a good game - very enjoyable and rewarding for the hardcore gamer.
* Aion will fail in keeping the crowd of casual gamers, along with those that can't stomach the grind.
* Aion's 3d engine is performing great, but tens of thousands of players can't play during fortress sieges because of crash issues.
* Grouping is not rewarding enough.
* Spammers and bots are annoying.
* It's about 15-20 days of played time to make 1-50.

Problems and Solutions

Leveling Curve:

* Why is 18-20 and 22-25 a pain in the ***? A decent amount of people quit Aion at that level fearing that the game will be a massive grind all the way to 50. 1.5 was supposed to remove any grind within that level bracket, but the way the elite difficulty and XP were nerfed made it even worse. 1 to 25 was more FUN in CBT than at release as killing the 4 dots elites was GREAT xp.
* I agree that 40 to 50 should be challenging. I would make 40 to 45 easier. At least lvl 45+ people can have fun in PvP in big level 50s battles.
* It is faster for dps classes to solo grind than to group up except for the campaign quests.
* Right now at 35+ you have a choice in doing solo PvE/PvP and group PvE/PvP. When we have a lot more 50s roaming in the abyss, the PvP part will become almost impossible. This will reduce the variety of gameplay even more, not to mention encourage botting.
* A lot of quests are just a waste of time right now.
* because of all this, leveling is not as fun as it should be.

Solutions:

* Increase all quest rewards by 15%.
* Increase XP from all elites by 25% to give an incentive for grouping. This will also create more stickiness in the game as people interact together, create friend lists and guilds. Add abilities to those elites to prevent rangers/Sm/sorcs from soloing them (pull, 10 seconds silence, snare immunity).
* Increase XP from all normal mobs by 15% (I realize that in a few months it will be much harder to find groups for lower levels, at that point you can probably boost solo quest xp.)
* Applying the above changes will reduce the 1-40 grind.
* Double the duration and effectiveness of rested XP.
* Increase drops from elite mobs.
* Reduce 1-50 to 10-15 days played time. Aion has a great PvPvE end game. Let people reroll toons without having them think of the countless hours of grind they will have to do to get to 45+.

Fortress Crashes:

Where is the communication NCsoft?
This is probably the top priority for the Korean engineering team. Why not talk about it? At this point it's useless to go to sieges if you have a high end pc, as you'll just chain crash. Funnily enough, low-end machines seem to be exempt from this most of the time.

Solution:

All the engineering staff should be working on this along with NCWest providing far more communication regarding progress/changes/fixes. This is a game breaking bug.

Spammers and bots

The latest patch reduced the amount of spam for sure. Good job guys, but we are still getting a few an hour. There is a decent amount of bots on all servers. It's really upsetting to see them, but yet fun to kill them.

Solution:

24/7 GM support. A spammer should be banned within 1 hour. Require level 20 for /1 and /3 chats.
Develop an in house anti-cheat program, this will benefit all your games.

Itemization of NTC, Fire Temple, Alchamia and Steel Rake:

When it takes 5-15 hours to level up, getting a nice blue drop is like getting your mother to buy you candy when you are a kid. It motivates you a lot. Long character progression in leveling should also translate to progression in itemization . There are no excuses that you can't get decent gear from these instances(at least 1-2 blues a run for the group and a gold 20% of the time.)

Solution:

Revisit the itemization of all instances pre-50.

Addons:

No offense, but the UI is poor. The chat is very not user friendly. Targeting sucks and is buggy, especially as a healer it will drive you nuts.

Solution:

Please bring UI addons faster and let thousands of volunteer developers fix it for you. Make sure the API is limited, so addons don't play for you like vanilla WoW.

In conclusion, the level curve needs to be tweaked and the grind needs to be reduced. Group play needs to be encouraged and players need to have the ability to make choices. Greater communication with the community needs to be established and maintained. UI addons need to be pushed along with itemization improvement throughout 20-45. One sticking point for western players is certainly spammers and bots, NCWest's stance on this needs to be far stronger.

Ncsoft Korea, you have not won in the west yet. Please look at these issues that are not considered end game for you in Korea if you want to win here.

I agree with most of it and if NCSoft went with these changes, the game would be awesome.

Who thought this mist mane shit was a good idea? Having elites that drop an item that sells for 10k-20k every time and non-elites that drop garbage and no hairs just pisses me off. I always seem to get stuck with the non-elites when my turn is up to loot. Now I realize that the easiest solution is to use master loot and just pick them all up and split at the end, but I just don't think I know anyone that trustworthy. Plus, I would miss out on white drops.

They should just drop 1 hair each for everyone in the group and be like every other quest item in the game.

Oh, and fuck pug groups that intentionally kill the nunus and the tayga to screw people out of loots.

If you mean 33229 in charcoal and acid, plus harvest-able materials that have a value of 65k on my server to only cost 20k, then sure.

Must be level 30 to get over 399. No requirements under that.

The Lv. 25 shields don't require nearly as much charcoal/acid. But yeah, re-doing the math its a little over 30k each (worthy fluxes a week ago were under 1k each on my server). I still made over 1000% profit on each blue, and myself undercut on greens (I generally sell greens at 85% of the cost to make)

Its a great post. I agree with most that is said. While I'm still enjoying the game and don't find the grind to be too terrible, the bot situation and the lack of any bannings on the pull a mob to guard exploit has be incensed more than I'ev been in years over any game.

Id be willing to bet 3/4th of Farlin's bots that he quit over, weren't even bots, but other players that walked straight to mobs to kill and/or had a leveling buddy.
On a side note I just want to say I hate the auto follow in this game... Had to put it in a macro so my heals reselect auto follow because if you so much as fart in this game you stop auto following.
