The key to doing spy quests is just form a balanced group. If you try to solo them, you will obviously die from the other faction leveling up. If you bring an organized group, you will slaughter the random solo players of the opposite faction, even if they outnumber you.

I just bought the game today. Felt really well polished although 1-10 felt pretty much exactly like WoW, but I guess what can you expect now adays.

I chose gladiator and my friend chose a sorceror. We dueled and he obliterated me. Didn't hit him once. Is that what I should be expecting in end-game pvp. Is the consensus really that range will dominate everything?

Sorcs will dominate you until around 28, then you get ankle snare. By 35 I have no problem with any Sorc of equal level, if I loose its usually very, very close.

So I'm "trialing" on my friend's account, and man I hate to say I am enjoying it. Got an 11 Cleric and a 10 Templar to check out my two favorite things, tanking & healing.

I can't say I like the Templar much at all, for some reason the skills and abilities aren't doing much for me, fun-wise.

I really enjoy the Cleric, but I'm curious about the Chanter. What is the Chanter's role in groups? Are they main healers or back ups?

Also, do Gladiators tank or are they just DPS?

Also, can I "respec" my Cleric to Chanter or do I have to start from scratch?

Yea, I learned this the hard way. Apparently 'spy' is kind of a misnomer because nothing about the spy quests involves small scale clandestine operations. They should be called 'SPAAARTAAAAAA' missions.

I didnt care much for the templar too...was the first class i tried n it just wasnt quite what i wanted.

Chanters i have a really good feeling about in late game...why im making it my main. Their front line Buffer/Mob Debuffers and off healing. Think of the Paragon from Guild Wars, pretty much the best way to describe them. Only thing that they lack is a dispell..which my friend pointed out but they have alot of utility once they get rolling.

From what i cant tell just by asking or hearing about Gladiators is they can off tank relatively ok, but their better suited as Dps (more so AoE)

And im pretty sure u have to start over if you already ascended a priest to cleric.

Scratch, they are different classes. You just choose your Archtype then your class.

FINALLY. Was getting worried tons of people would quit if they didn't do shit about it

Aion™ Online :: Notices - Addressing Gold Spam

Quote:
While Executive Producer Lance Stites took time to address some of the most prominent issues raised in the Aion community last week, we want to specifically address another issue that is a top priority for the team here at NCsoft: in-game real money trading (RMT) advertisement, sometimes referred to as "gold spamming." These activities are something we're actively combating right now. They are also something you can help us with, and something that we are committed to addressing continually in the future.

We currently have Game Masters monitoring all our servers. They track chat channels closely and have been banning thousands of spammers every day. This form of active monitoring is a part of a much larger network of tools and sensors that we're currently utilizing to help create a better game experience for the Aion community across the board.

If you're experiencing chat spam, there is a way for you to address this immediately on your own and help us create a better gameplay experience for everyone. You can use the Block User feature. All you need to do is to right-click on a user's name and choose to block that user. While this doesn't eliminate the problem, it is one small step you can actively make to improve your game experience. Using Block User also helps us identify spammers much more quickly.

We are considering a number of methods to address this chat spam that have been implemented in previous games, as well exploring new technologies and what they may have to offer to improve your game experience. One upcoming feature for Aion will be an improved chat filter to help reduce the overall chat spam. This filter, along with new tracking and monitoring methods, is the first of many steps that we'll be taking to help resolve the issue of gold spamming.

We appreciate all the feedback and ideas you have been giving us so far. We will continue to scour the communities out there for other ideas as we go. We absolutely recognize how important this is to you and a good game experience in Aion, and we reiterate that we are currently addressing it. Thank you for your patience and for all of your input.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Think I'll reroll my Templar as a Chanter and check that out, though Cleric plays so terrific, at least at this low level.

Just did a fortress fight, was laggy as hell and the player models didnt load past floating names.. and dying was a sure crash cause the death animation is so intense.

I think there was like 5x more people there than would have been fun... if thats what fights are actually gonna be like i cant see it being very fun... same shit as in EVE where theres just to many people to do anything but zerg.

About tanking, Gladiators can maintank any of the elites/instances fine so far. We do everything with a Gladiator main tanking (since every pug Templar is slow as fuck or just sucks with his pull skill).

At the start i had so much gold spamming, i couldnt read chat. But i kept blocking (like what, 20 blocks) and never saw a spam for days again.

My cleric is getting to a point where i want to crunch the numbers. Where is a good place (aion class specific forum)? I want to see how the effect is with full physical attack manastones (someone mentioned it speeds up the attack animation, making also your spells faster wtf?). Or concentration, how much do you need to make a difference, or magic def or or. Anyone?

Stack HP, you can never go wrong as a healing class in a PvP-centric game. Don't number crunch for PvE-
Mana is a non-issue in this game thanks to Potions.
It's really not worth thinking about the rest-

On a unrelated note, one of the members of my Legion who played C-Aion up to 40+ mentioned that High Level Sorcerers all stacked HP.

ALOT worse, that's what you could expect.

Frankly, 1-10 in Aion has WoW's 1-10 beat by a long, long mile. Are you kidding?

The only thing WoW's noob game has over Aion is the variety of starting areas.

But c'mon. 1-10 in Aion you are involved in little storylines with cutscenes, you are taking flight paths, you're strongly encouraged to up your gathering skills, and when it's all said and done, you can freakin' fly. Don't get me wrong, I know that the bits and pieces that make the whole noob experience are still comprised of kill/collect/deliver, but at least it makes a pretty decent attempt at illusion. In the end, the game gives you that epic feel by the time you hit 10 for the first time. Personally, I love the campaigns in Aion, and the fact that there's always that big epic one you can't finish until you've done all the rest in the area. How cool is it that they give you that from the very start?

WoW's 1-10 is straight up kill/collect/deliver and every single step of the way there's no illusion about it.

I'm not dissin' WoW's noob game, I'm praising Aion's - it's really about the best I've seen 1-10.

Hell, the game in general is ENGAGING to my taste, and it's been awhile since I really felt engaged by an MMO.
